Gem Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 '@Skalhuno: It was good till the end!! #forevergratefulcfc' '@Skalhuno: I got in by the guest door n left in the front door with my head high :)' ---- So looks like he's off, I know none of us had Kalou shirts or posters on our walls but I've got his big soppy face clinging onto the Chanpions League trophy on my canvas on my wall forever. Thought of stick this in rumours but if people think it needs to be elsewhere then by all means move.
dkw Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I think he`s been an excellent squad player for us the time he`s been here, scored some very important goals and has been worth the money we paid. He gets some unnecessary stick at times but has never given anything other than his best, though sometimes that unfortunately just wasnt good enough. Good luck to him.
rougvie13 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 that about sum it up for me as well , good luck to him wherever he ends up (unless its the dippers)
sals Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 God I hope he dosen't end up at Liverpool, one of the most likeable players we have had at the club in recent memory. I think the reason he frustrates so many people is it is clear to see just how talented he is but he just never got close to reaching that potential for us. Nonetheless was a good servant of the club. Hope he ends up at a club like Schalke (who i believe are interested) and with more gametime he does show what he is capable of
bluedave Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I have been waiting for us to move him on for years, but now I feel like a bad person. Hope he get a lot more games at his new club wherever it may be.
DanDroy Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I'm gonna miss Kalou he's been a favourite of mine ever snce arriving. :(
PloKoon13 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Sorry to see him go, he always gave his all and was part of some serious trophy-winning sides. He is well worthy of Chelsea fans' deepest love and respect. To be honest I would like to see him stay; his wages can't be much and he is happy even when not always starting. Plus he gave us these absolutely beautiful moments: 85th minute volleyed equaliser in the 3-3 vs Tottenham in the FA Cup: 88th minute offside winner in the 2-1 vs Tottenham in the League: http://rd3.videos.sapo.pt/play?file=http://rd3.videos.sapo.pt/1slKQDeva7YDjndc7Vog/mov/1 Winner vs Benfica in the Champions League: (Approx. 1:37) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwD_IgxUkyk Hat trick vs Stoke in the 7-0 win in the league: I also remember goals against Man Utd, QPR but can't find the videos. 60 goals, 40 assists, 1 Premier League, 1 Champions League (in which he scored 3 in 6 games), 4 FA Cups and even a League Cup and a Community Shield. Take a bow son, you deserve it.
Andreas Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Good bye Sala and thanks for everything. Perfect squad player and never really moaned about being exactly that, wish him all the best in the future. The squad will also now be short of some banter! Seems like a very nice and humble person as well, also replied twice to my tweets!!
Adam Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Will always remember him for THAT cross to Riise. Great squad player, always put 100% in. Will be a tragedy if he goes to the bindippers.
Damnation Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Vs who, did he score that phenomenal solo effort last year?
ace Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Vs who, did he score that phenomenal solo effort last year? Birmingham? It's number 6 in the video I posted below:
Damnation Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Birmingham? It's number 6 in the video I posted below Yeah, this is the one. Such an incredible shot at the end, looks like it's totally gonna miss.
sals Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Number 7 in that video is an exquisite team goal, absolutely beautiful
Greg Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 He's never been, nor ever will be world-class, but he's always given it his all and is a player I trully admire for enjoying every second of his time here at the Bridge. He may be subject to criticism from a section of fans - myself included at times - but he never let this affect him and still continued to give his all for the club. Plus, he's leaving as a Champions League winner - an accolade not many players can boast. Farewell, Salomon...
Spiller86 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Not a bad way for him to go out. He has won everything here. Deserves to go somewhere he can play every week. I think he may even improve with regular match time.
Zola Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 (edited) He always played with a smile on his face and never took himself too seriously. I like his personality and the way he carries himself. Good luck to him. Edited July 1, 2012 by Zola
dkw Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Lille or OM is ny guess. Hasnt he mentioned returning to the Dutch club he was at?
Englishman Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I think he`s been an excellent squad player for us the time he`s been here, scored some very important goals and has been worth the money we paid. He gets some unnecessary stick at times but has never given anything other than his best, though sometimes that unfortunately just wasnt good enough. Good luck to him. Spot on. I also recall his ice cool penalty in Moscow, sadly forgotten because of what happened next.
ace Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Hasnt he mentioned returning to the Dutch club he was at? I thought it was the Turkish club that Kuyt just went to, as they were good friends from their Dutch days.
chelsealovefc Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 He deserves to move on and get some play time elsewhere to finish off his career, so good for him. I don't think he'd be expected to be anything more than a squad player at Liverpool, so I don't think he'll end up there. Not sure there's any real interest anyways.
blizeH Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I love Kalou and hope he does well after he leaves us, so its disappointing to hear him being linked with Liverpool and Arsenal, hopefully he will move back to Holland or to France after all!
That Boy Brandinho Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Kalou was often infuriating to watch and that sometimes made it easy to forget the depth of his contributions. He was no star, but every great team needs somebody to provide a bit of spark from the bench. Unlike a lot of footballers, he didn't have an inflated perception of himself. He realized what he was and always seemed content to play the role he was capable of playing and contribute to the team's success. In an era of out of control egos, I respect that. I wish him the best, although I reserve the right to amend that statement if he signs for Arsenal or Liverpool.
Uno Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Reports have mentioned going back to Holland, 2 teams in Germany and i think a french team. I thought we would have heard by now where he is going.
