A few years ago I used to use Torrents for my downloads, then Rapidshare. Haven`t went looking for anything for a while so what does everyone use thats safe to download now? I`m after blu ray mkv`s if possible, but also HD movies.

We have to try and avoid any links to dodgy download sitez- we could get the boot before you know it. I am not sure that is going to change any time soon.

I was wondering if you could answer a question that I've been curious about. Do you think pirates or ninjas are more badass and which do you think would emerge victorious from a fight? I lead towards pirates myself, but I think a bird who was well fit and half-pirate half-ninja would make me orgasm in record time.

Depends what it is. Music I just download off youtube usually. I don't download other things really, unless i've paid for them/free.

scanbits.org or thepiratebay. Those are the ones I use the most. Not sure if they're safe, but they work anyway. The first one is probably the easiest to find a solid fast download on.

^ Register there, they have a whole forum split into glorious sections of everything.

Get an Rapidshare account for 3 months, its excellent value considering the speeds you will get with it.

Then download a wee application called JDownloader. Use this program to store your RS login details. Now all you have to do is find the links you want off warez. Copy them to Jdownloader and hit go. It will download everything at once for you and even extract all the zipped files automatically (provided you dont have to enter a password).

Ok make that 2 then!

Teh main thing that gets me is that even though downloads are a problem, paradoxically the industry is doing better. Companies in the film and record industries are filing record profits.

I don't use so many of those sites too much, not comparable to buying the DVDs.

I buy all the music I download legally. Anything else less than honest is crackers!

Whilst I am both intrigued and fairly confused by these posts, I feel it my god given duty to point out that the government will be on to you like a ton of bricks if they find out you've been downloading illegally.

There's absolutely no way they can stop everyone. Even the most hardcore of downloader has to be legally given 3 warnings by their ISP. If your are taking the odd TV series or movie here and there you will never be caught if you download from safe links and don't take the piss.

Think how much bandwidth us chewed up on the iplayer and YouTube etc. they don't give a Fook as long as you don't go over board or look up sick sh*t lol

Back on topic, if this three strikes thing takes off, it'll make SSL tunneling all the more attractive (encrypts all your web traffic via a proxy so they've no way of identifying you)

Cheers people, found what I was after. As abigsmurf says, if the big IP`s start clamping down all that will happen is SSL tunneling and other proxy work arounds will become more prevalant, or the old BBS systems (ahhh, them were the days) may be the way to go.
