I would'nt be surprised 1 bit if he scores tonight...due to the fact its gonna be a lower standard of defence in front of him again....but then again

Really though, this isn't a big game. As much as we hate Leeds, it's still a league cup match against a team in the bottom half of the Championship.

Agreed, but i'm under no illusion whatsoever that its gonna be an easy game

Unfortunately, you're right about that. Between the enmity our clubs share and our uninspiring form, I can see us losing a match that we really should be able to sleepwalk through.

When/If Torres scores tonight, he'll be 'back' again, only for him to not score against Villa, Norwich or Everton. He'll never be back. I think Benitez is the only one still clinging on. If he does score tonight though it would be nice!

If I hear this once more....

Hence why I put the 'back' in inverted commas.

I'm fed up of hearing it as well.

That is exactly what he means Omnidroid, NO ONE IS SAYING IT. I haven't seen a single Torres supporter say the words "he is back" on this thread since atleast page like 80 something? Where are all these "imaginary" he is back posts coming from??

Apparently, thanks to the largely aggresive anti-Torres movement, the phrase "he played decent tonight" now means "HE IS BACK"

Spot on.

Ah, I see. Apologies.

You're dead right. I can't remember the last time anyone on this forum so much as hinted that "Torres is back." Excuse me if I blinked and missed it. However, what does happen, every time Torres does hit the back of the net, is that the media bring out the same old: "Torres is back"... "is Torres getting back to his best?" type headlines.

Looking at it like that, you can't help but think there's more than a bit of confusion between what certain people have read on this forum and what's written in the press.

That's effectively what I meant when I put 'Torres is back'. It's not us that say it, but the media most certainly will. A lot of the Chelsea fans I know in real life also seem to say he is back a lot.

Torres is BACK!! Hahahaha

Lol.....Yes, confirmed, he has proved all his doubters wrong! Lovely finish as well, textbook poacher goal. Who needs Falcao when we have Torres!  To be fair, leeds were just playing their way back into the game, but i reckon Torres has single handedly killed them off with that one.

is he our top scorer this season?

I was in the middle of making the following point to a friend when he scored:

How many first choice PL strikers would you swap for Torres, realistically? I'd take Le Fondre, Cisse/Zamora (yes even if they play for the scum), Di Santo/Kone, Fletcher, Lambert, Ba/Cisse, Benteke/Bent, Berbatov, Suarez, Cole/Carroll (yes), Michu, Crouch, Holt/Morison, Long/Odemwingie (+ Lukaku), Jelavic, Giroud/Walcott/Podolski, Adebayor/Defoe...

Honestly, how many of these players would you not swap for Torres, with the movement and touch he's shown over the past few games?

Honestly that list shows the lack of talent in the PL outside of the top 4 clubs!

Being centre forward for Chelsea is a lot different to being centre forward for Villa or Newcastle!

Not sure I'd fall over myself for any of the others.
