Alan Hudson Interview

Featured Replies

Thanks for that mate. A good listen. Be of interest to the likes of BlueBeard, who remember those times. Interesting what he has to say about Lampard at the end.

Went to listen but apparently I'm not authorised to access that page, which probably means no longer available.

Loved Hudson as a player at CFC, but could never understand his later bitching that the club owned him a living.

Its unfortunate that he feels so let down by the club that he feels the need to constantly slag it off, especially as he only seems to name Chelsea yet played nearly as may times for Stoke.

There was no sense of this oft-quoted bitterness in yesterday's interview though. In fact he stated this bitterness to be an invention of the media. He spoke fondly of the team of the day, referring to them (incluiding himself) as a bunch of rogues. He spoke of Ossie as the outstanding centre-forward in an era of great centre-forward, and - this will surprise you, I'm sure, compared Torres to Ossie, stating that Torres had the potential to be as good as Ossie.

Of his departure from the club, he laid the blame fairly and squarely at the feet of Dave Sexton, but again without rancour or bitterness. It was a miracle that Sexton and Ossie never came to blows; Sexton may have been a great coach but his man management skills were appalling, and it was his tendency to play favourites that cost the club so dearly.

Excellent interview, a must listen indeed, and I would urge those of you who have not done so to give it a listen.

Won't let me listen either...gutted as I loved Huddy in the day and would like to believe his slagging of the club has been exagerated, I'd certainly believe that if I heard him say it before I'd believe Torres could be as good as Ossie

I'm not authorised either, bugger!

Me neither, Steve. It must only be friends of Alan Hudson who gain access! Maybe Tommy can arrange it for us?

I will try and give it a listen if I can access it, but I dont think his bitterness is completely media invented, Ive seen a couple of interviews where all he does is talk about how badly the club have treat him lately etc. No doubt it has been embellished by the media, but it is there in him which is a shame.

I can but try. Ok, how about this:

Many thanks for that, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Huddy - especially the stuff about Ossie!

Fantastic player Hudson and one of my favourites at his time with Chelsea. Did not hear the same anger in his voice when referring to Chelsea as I have heard in previous interviews he has done. Seems he may be in a better place at the moment.

Interesting that Frank jun contacted the show to pass on his best wishes from him and Frank sen. Hudson relates that he advised Frank to join us rather than dirty Leeds when leaving the spammers. What a mistake that would have been Lamps.

Just watched it and it was very interesting, and as goose said he seems to have mellowed when talking about Chelsea.

An enjoyable interview, and a pleasant surprise not to hear him slating us. Still it shows the differences in attitudes these days, it was hardly out of order for Dave Sexton to expect the players to turn up for training sober. I'm not sure why anyone would want to kill him though!
