You are forgetting that we are in a stronger position already without Cech, he is past his peak. We have made an improvement. Yes he'll be good for Arsenal, what will it change?

We got Cole from Arsenal just as he was became the best left back in the league, and he went on to win a hell of a lot of things. That hurt Arsenal fans. What will Cech realistically win with Arsenal IF he goes there? A league cup maybe?

At least with mata the fee was massive and it was obvious that he wasn't really the player they needed. Arsenal have needed a keeper for years and they might get one of the best around for cut price. We can't just go around filing other teams needs and as RFC said youd never see our rivals doing the same for us.

Nah, it really wont.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, but I think that most Chelsea supporters will recognise that the decent thing to do is let Cech move where he wants.

Decent Chelsea supporters will understand that he has more than earned that right and that we should strike a fair deal that is best for all parties. He's declined as a keeper, we've strengthened in that position and Arsenal also seem to be declining.

Arsenal need a defender and a DM far more than they need a keeper. They also arguably need a new manager.

But at what point do we ignore a player likes Cech`s wishes? He has been an incredible player for us, never caused problems, won us trophies and been worth every single penny we paid. If he is in a position where he wants to leave surely we should be looking to let him choose where he goes and how. If he wants to stay in London then his options are limited, same as when Cuducini left. We as a club shouldnt really be looking to piss him off by selling him to a club he doesnt want to go to.

Arsenal arent a threat under Wenger but I would still hate to see Cech go there and for 7 million is a joke. When Mata went to United we milked them for every penny we could. Selling Cech to a "rival" for 7 million? We would be mugs to do that.

Exactly.

Next season with a new manager and players like Sanchez, Cech, Ozil, Ramsey and no doubt 1 or 2 more top players it would be foolish to say Arsenal wouldn't be a threat....of course they would.

Currently Arsenal under Wenger are powder puff, a change of manager and a few decent players and that all changes.

£7 million? Even at double that it would be a steal.

Maybe it's just me but I've always been of the thinking you never sell to a rival...DO people want this to become like Italy where players move freely between rival clubs in the same City?

If so the games going bloody hollow.

My sentiment exactly. We arent trying to do Arsenal a favour, we ate trying to do right by Cech and let him choose were he wants to go. Classy move by CFC imo, lets hope the majority of our fans have the same class and respect his decision.

7 million might be a little low, but its around what I expected. I doubdt we had that many offers for him

What actually is the market value for a 32 year old goalkeeper? Lloris was about £8 million when he went to Spurs so is £7 million for a keeper who is no longer first choice for us really a joke?

How many keepers in the league would be more expensive than him?

Next season with a new manager

So we're selling him to a club who need a new manager. The transition from Wenger to whomever they appoint will be as big an upheaval as Fergie leaving United and they're starting from a weaker position.

Truth is Cech has been declining since 2012, has questions over his long-term fitness and is too good of a man and too good of a servant to this club for us to act like dicks.

He's a family man who has a young family and is seemingly settled in this country. For us to demand he go abroad so that a tiny minority of fans don't have to watch him play for Arsenal is simply not something I'd expect us to do.

Cech is a multiple PL winning and also CL winning GK.

32 is not old for a keeper he has 3-4 years still at the very top.

£7 million is far too low.

Who is better than Cech? Bayerns keeper but that's it. So you are selling the 2nd or 3rd best keeper in the world for the same price as Demba Ba?

Nah

Long term fitness?

Hoow many times has he been injured since 2012?

That's just a out and out lie.

'Chelsea’s goalkeeping coach told me he doesn’t know how much time Cech can play at the top level,' the 19-year-old told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

'I know he has problems in his knees and on his back.

'Chelsea told me to spend two years at a club like Atletico. After that one season in an English team so I can integrate myself into the Premier League.'

So a player with knee and back problems has been playing for god knows how long while only missing a handful of games due to injuries not concerning his knees or back…….

Aye that sounds plausible…

Haha, Hardly missed a game to injury in the past 5 years whilst his stats actually improved.

Goalkeepers will always go for cheaper than outfield players. But yes, 7 million is a damn steal for a goalkeeper of his calibre.

I’m not expecting 30 odd million for him but certainly a world class keeper like Cech would be going for well over £10 million.

Madrid NEED a keeper

PSG could be doing with an upgrade

There will be teams sniffing about Cech for sure.

I dont think we would get more than £10m for him really, we arent really in a position of power for selling him unfortunately. Everyone knows he`s now second choice, he wants to leave, he will be on pretty big wages etc.

I'm just reposting what Courtois was apparently told. Maybe he was lying or Lollichon was fibbing....equally plausible.

I'm just posting my opinion that as a keeper he has declined in the last two years, and seems to have developed something of an issue with crosses.

How far over £10 million? He's 33 at the end of the season and whilst there are keepers who go beyond 35 at the top levl, they're the exception rather than the rule.

You're suggesting he moves abroad - what if he doesn't want to? Again we come back to the point that footballers are humans and whilst it's easy to revere him as a legend who has done so much for this club, maybe you need to take that a step further and acknowledge his decade's worth of service to this club by respecting his wishes for where he goes next.

I understand cech may want to stay in London. But at 31 he could be a top goalkeeper for a rival for the next 5-7 years.

If this happens then it is more proof there is zero loyalty these days. He's been a fantastic servant and after 10 years some may say he should be able to choose where he goes. I think after 10 years, you would hope he is very much a chelsea fan, and wouldn't want to go to a rival.

All ifs and buts at this stage. He will always be a club legend.

Agreed.

I'm just bemused players are moving between rivals like this if it did happen.

Not the way I remember football growing up in Glasgow.

I'd hate for it to get like Italy.

Personally I think all players who want to leave us should commit Seppuku on the pitch, in front of either the Shed or MH Stand and preferably at half-time during a match.

All youth team players should watch and then smear themselves in the blood.

Alternatively players should be encased in carbonite, Han Solo-style and placed either in the museum or club shop so that tourists can have their photos taken with their heroes.

I'm not trying to start an argument and I'm still relatively new here so not that familiar with individuals but you're talking a lot about things like loyalty etc. so I've got a small question for you.

How many football clubs do you support?

Why the hyperbole? I didn't answer your comment with a "f**k it let's sell hazard to to qpr"

I just think after 10 years you would expect players to feel, what fans feel.

Not that this has anything to do with it but I get the impression you are trying to have a dig at me.

I’m born and raised in Glasgow, brought up a Rangers fan. My dad was English and from London he was/is a diehard Chels fan but couldn’t afford to take me down to see Chelsea back then. We moved down when I was 11-12 and from then I was taken to the Bridge every other week. I now go between Glasgow and London due to work, I love both cities and glad I have ties in both so I can get to see the two teams I was brought up to love.

So if this is about my loyalty you may as well take it elsewhere.

Madrid bought Navas in the summer they have no need, neither does PSG with Sirigu. Even if they did want him, Pete might not want to go there. If either Madrid or PSG really wanted him he would be sold a while ago. Hard to get a huge fee when theres no interest
