Courtois is the easy choice for me. He's young and already one of the best in the world. He deserves all the chances we can give him because his potential is unbelievable. At the moment, Neuer is by far the best in the world but who says Courtois can't challenge him in a couple of years?

Neuer isn't fit to lace Courtois' boots, let alone Cech

tongue in cheek? gotta be! lol. Neuer is a beast, he's just everywhere as a GK.

Peter has serious problems with corners. If you've spotted, the team is more stable in this situations than ever. Peter is a legend, i love him, i trust him, i respect him but Neuer and Courtois are the best undoubtedly. Last but not least - Thibaut is younger, much younger than Peter. It's going to be stupid if you choose Cech. Unfortunately, i have to say it, he is the wrong decision right now.

Yeah I'd rather have Courtois than Neuer if you give me a choice. He's 6 years younger and is already one of the top 3 in world and is only going to improve. Plus I really don't want Courtois to sweep like Neuer it makes me feel uncomfortable that we might concede.

Honest assesment.

We all know Petr will be leaving soon.

To be honest i think he is an accident waiting to happen. I can't believe managers don't set their sides up to force him into a mistake. All of this charging out of the penalty area and showboating should be targeted. I think that if he was doing it in the Premier League he wouldn't get away with it. Teams would pressure him into making mistakes.

What, like this?

I like Neuer's style of play; yes it's higher risk (although he's good enough to barely ever get caught out) but allows the team to play a higher line, pressing more effectively and leading to fewer chances for the opposition to attack. Similar to the passing the ball out of defence vs clearing it, imo - it's highlighted when the mistake inevitably happens, but the style of play in itself leads to fewer chances in general.

Bit of a back-handed compliment really from Courtois...

What Thibaut actually said:

“As a goalkeeper you want to play. If I was in that situation where I didn’t play a lot, then I would leave too,” Courtois told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I think Petr is still a goalkeeper with a lot of quality and one of the best there is.

So Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Cech for 7m apparently. Good for him, he deserves to play every game. And Arsenal might finally get a decent goalkeeper!

Bizarre if we again choose to sell such a highly rated player to one of our rivals even if they are no longer 1st choice for us.

Considering the reluctance for sides to sell to us it just seems odd that we appear so much more accommodating.

Would prefer if he went overseas but the guy has earned the right to make the decision that is best for him. We made the decision to replace him so I think the decent thing to do (considering he's a family man who has lived in the south-east for more than a decade) is give him the option to do what he chooses.

He's too good to stay on the bench for us and Arsenal's problems extend further than a goalkeeper.

I'll be fuming if we do this.

Arsenal? FFS Chelsea what are you doing?

Cech is worth more tha £7 million also.

Better be sh*te

Lets just wait and see if this does happen before the gnashing of teeth begins. I f we had signed every player we were told was a done deal then we would have a squad of about 500 players.

The guy has lived here for the last decade, has a young family and may not want to uproot his family at this point in time. What exactly would his other options be? Spurs don't need a keeper and that's the only other viable option.

This is one of those instances where it's not just about sports and rivalries and we need to use phrases like 'human being' and 'basic decency'.

He served us brilliantly for a decade and we've now made the (correct in my opinion) choice to replace him. £7 million is probably at the bottom end of his value but keepers rarely command a high price at that age, and we'd benefit more from trimming about £5 million per year from our budget.

What's more important is getting a capable number two in.

I don't care, I'm not for selling one of our club legend and still world class players to f**king Arsenal.

It's not on.

It's because he's a club legend that the club will respect his decision whatever he chooses. No-one will like that he's going to Arsenal but once the shock clears, I'm sure he'll be thanked and his decision understood.

Nah, it really wont.

I wasnt pleased we sold Mata to United but this would be ten times worse.

No English club does anythign like this for us, why should we be doing them any favours? We get nothing else in return.

I don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't be able to stomache seeing Cech playing for them, I just wouldn't.

I hope it's all speculation and we sell abroad and for FAR more than a measly £7 million. How many world class players go for £7 million?

Chelsea better have other ideas.
