The problem with having Courtois and Cech is there will always be a call for the other one to play when an error is made.

Keep's both on their toes at least.

I'd imagine Cech will get a game soon enough with cup games comming up and maybe in CL early stages.

Until that contract is signed by Courtois I'm still edgy.

Disappointed with the lack of support for Cech at the moment. We always complain about players lack of loyalty. He's been at the club a long time and the first chance to replace him and a large portion of supporters put their weight behind Courtois.

 

This situation just shows that fans can be almost be as bad as players. Its not like Cech had been making gaffes all last season or the season before that. He's still a top keeper, admittedly not the same player he was when he joined but still imo good enough to start.

Problem is that Courtois is the future, and if we let him go, we have to look for another quality goalkeeper somewhere that has the potential to be the world's best...and that is a tall order.

Yeh I do agree with that argument. I just feel with Cech people are guilty of having double standards. I do realise that Courtois is a quality keeper and it would be a huge loss if he had gone to another club. I just wish that the club could have dealt with it in a more dignified manner instead of pretending that it'll be brilliant to have competition between keepers. We all know that no one likes sitting on the bench, unless youre Henrique Hilario haha!

They are both in the 1st team squad until January at least so can't we just enjoy having the prems best 2 keepers

Honestly, if I was Cech, I wouldn't mind. 10+ years of service to a top club, with plenty of trophies, chance to mentor a younger talent, and still get paid the big bucks? Good deal I think. But everyone views the world differently.

He is an elite athlete... He wants to cement his legacy not act as a stepping stone for some kid.

 

He'd probably rather be number 1 somewhere else for less money.

Totally agree. Twilight period of his career and he wants to go out on a high.

I will be missing him, all the excellent service he provided over the years.

Really surprised he didn't go. I thought there would be 3/4 clubs sniffing around him.

Looks like we've pretty much missed out chance to get a good fee for him.

We werent going to get much for him anyway, maybe we get some decent offers in jan but if we sell him its more out of respect for Cech then it is about making a profit

Id rather make sure Cech goes somewere he wants to be at a club not in direct competition with usthen worry about the transfer fee. Should be able to get 7 though. 8-10 would be my guess

I like that Cech stayed, didn't throw his toys out the pram and is willing to fight for his place.

Think he may be in the last 18 months of his contract so I can't see us getting anything like that figure.

Was certain he would stay, didn't strike me as the sort to complain as soon as he got a bit of competition.

Since Courtois won the starting place, the club wants to prolong his contract. It was predictable to ensure.

As for Cech, we need to wait whether he gets to play in the CL games. If he gets the nod, he will stick around.
