Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Needs to start against United, they would be unsettled just by his presence. Hopefully the fact he was a sub in the last 2 matches means that he is next in the scheme to start a match since we need our striker to do a lot better than Ba did tonight or Torres did against Hull. He did start a lot of games in the friendly matches so he must be raring to go

Perhaps Jose intends on using him as more of an impact sub this season, given his physicality it's certainly effective him coming on against tiring defenders who have been chasing around Hazard & Co. for an hour.

It certainly worked well today.

That would work if the players he was replacing were in fact superior to him.

He doesn't get caught offside at every run.  He takes shots at goal.  He creates his own chances.  He works the opposition backline and creates a lot of space.  He is constantly making himself available for passes and he presses from the front.  Torres and Ba do none of this.  Torres runs away from goal and Ba doesn't seem to understand the offside rule.  At this point I just don't see what we have to lose by playing him.  He couldn't possibly be less effective.

The debates go on in other threads but the fact is other top strikers have already opened their accounts.  RVP and Aguero did it with their first chances.  Benteke did it with his only chance against us.  How long are we to go on settling for hard work running away from goal while those two duke it out for the golden boot?  It's too frustrating and I really don't want to go though a third year of it.  I'd rather see Lukaku out there, even if he's making mistakes and learning.

I think he proved in his 20 mins against Villa that he should be at least the second choice striker. He's better than Demba Ba and could quite possibly take Torres' spot by the end of the season. If anything he is good enough to challenge torres and force him to up his game to keep his spot.

I guess. But I'd sooner see him get a few starts.

My favourite quote is "If a player can improve us, why not? Samuel Eto'o, Wayne Rooney, I have heard everyone. I am not scared. Let them come."

I love this guy, the confidence he has in his own ability at his age is amazing, I really hope we give him the chance to start against Man Utd.

Sorta funny, but a little off topic. Okay a lot. Girlfriend asked after we scored against Villa if our striker was named Bukake and I was like no it s Lukaku love. Then a couple of minutes passed and I thought "Hey, how the hell do you know that word???" Was a bit awkward after that.

Well, i've got some bad news...

That's great to see from Didier and David.

I was gutted for Lukaku last night. Credit to him for being the last penalty taker, despite being just 20-years-old. Hopefully the miss won't affect him too much as I'm desperate for him to do well at Chelsea.

Bayern players said that their heartbreak in Munich motivated them to the heights they reached the next year.  Hopefully Lukaku draws from this as well.

Posted the link on match thread too, where too many are trying to kick Lukaku while he's down...nerves got the better of him and who can blame him for that...didier is such a legend

Tough break for the kid but he'll have more opportunities yet. Reminded me a bit of when Gael Kakuta was up to take a penalty in the Shield game. Its only upwards from here on for this kid though

I've basically blacklisted anyone that has talked sh*t about Lukaku because of that penalty.  It absolutely disgusts me.  I'm quite a young guy, 24.  To think that I've got 4 years on Lukaku... He's a bloody kid and he ballsed up and took the 5th penalty against Bayern f*cking Munich, the best team in the world.

One thing that I take as a major positive is that we had Cole, Terry and Lampard.  3 of the most experienced guys going around yet Mourinho asked Lukaku if he wanted to take the last penalty.  Tell me now he doesn't rate the kid.

Every player has missed a penalty.  It's not as easy as it looks.  Let's not forget Schweinsteiger of all people missed one on a bigger stage...  Are you going to sit there and tell me that he's not a good player?  Absolute gun.  Lukaku will be okay.  He will grow from here.  Look at it this way... I doubt he'll ever kick as poor a penalty for the rest of his life.  He will perfect it.  Seems that kind of worker.

The way he reacted after was the key. He was devastated. Much better than indifferent. He will only get better. And this is a small speedbump in his career.

I love the way Drogs and Luiz have consoled him. Especially Drogba's message is pure gold. What a gent.

my mate who's a villa fan seems to think villa will get Lukaku on loan and then the odds for it in the bookies got slashed. If this happens i'll be seriousy annoyed

Your mate is a moron dude.

They have Benteke.  It'd be more plausible if it were Everton or even WBA again.  But I believe Jose when he says he's getting first team opportunities this season.  He was sent out against the European Champions when Torres was having an unusually good game, so we've got to assume Jose rates him.
