July 30, 201411 yr Cavani would be the worst purchase at this point in time. In the last 4 months all that he has done of note is miss open goal in pretty huge matches. We need some one rather low key here who can play and score from the deep. Some one like Pedro of Barcelona or the likes. There's this kid...played for us last season...German...think he's called Shirley or something? In all seriousness, we need a goalscoring striker that can lead the line and chip in with 15-20 goals coming off the bench/not being first pick every week. Cavani maybe in a bad spell but I'm sure Jose could turn him around. The guy is quality but it really depends on the price. Wouldn't mind Chicharito as a back up as he's a poacher and gives you something different.
July 30, 201411 yr Cannot see us fitting in another forward really unless we sell Torres. While he is at the club and on 175k a week he will be involved. 2 more years to go there and we can then move on. Hopefully Costa really lifts us this season.
July 30, 201411 yr To be even more fairer, he came on very late in the match when the US back line was completely spent and Howard didn't have anymore tricks in standing on his head in goal. To be even fairer we could stop using cliches
July 30, 201411 yr I see Jose is talking sh*t again. Nope, just confirming what a lot of Chelsea fans thought about Lukaku. Edited July 30, 201411 yr by Scott Harris
July 30, 201411 yr I don't care what Mourinho has said. I don't believe most of what he says, there's two sides to this and I'm not going to blindly believe what Jose says especially considering the sh*te we've had up front the last two years whilst Romelu has been impressing and improving and generally doing what a striker should whilst on loan. As for what did I want the club to do? If you actually read the post you've quoted you'll see I've typed down what i would have wanted the club to do. To repeat "The club should have told him he has this year competing along side Costa as that's what happens at most top clubs and if he still wasn't happy at the end of the season then sell." This is a Chelsea forum for Chelsea fans to discuss matters relating to Chelsea so don't have a little pop at me or others at the end of your post for daring to post about how we disagree with what the club is doing. You don't have to believe Mourinho. The evidence is there. Lukaku was intended to be a part of the first team last season but he forced his way out. He also said as much in an interview. If he did not want to compete with a 33 year old Eto'o and a past it Torres, then that says a lot about his mentality. It had to be obvious to him that he will be competing for a place in the team, but he did not want to do that. Do you see how quickly his transfer went through? Did you read his pre world cup comments where he basically put himself on the market? The player wanted to go. And if he stayed this year, his value would have been slashed due to him only having one year left on his contract. So yet again, Chelsea did fantastic in a situation that they did not create. And lastly, you're free to disagree with how the club does things, but expect other fans to point out when you might wrong. If he actually ever had any plans to use him then he could have easily just told Lukaku no, kept him and given him chances to prove himself. Just because Lukaku wanted a loan doesn't mean we're obliged to get him one. Jose could have made him stay and he would have inevitably got the chances he craved. As with Mata though in the end I feel Mourinho was happy to let him go without giving him a chance. Then turn round to the media and say it was a lack of patience on the players part or that he wanted him to stay. He was not obliged to send him on loan, but we don't know what pressure Lukaku or his agent put the club under to send him out on loan. Let's not forget that Mourinho is not the only one who makes transfer decisions at Chelsea. The club probably lost patience with Lukaku as well. Also, not to mention, this is a player who said he is a complete striker, who said he is ready to play in the Champions league, etc. Yet he had to settle for Everton. July 30, 201411 yr I see Jose is talking sh*t again. Are you even a supporter or are you here to wind up everybody with your Borat-esque posts...No wait, excuse me not Borat it is Balkey, that character from the American sitcom from the 80's Perfect Strangers.
July 30, 201411 yr I thought 3 needed to leave to make up the space? Not sure how it works to be honest. I thought we were only 1 over therefore only 2 would need to move for us to bring in a non homegrown striker It's definitely 3 we need to move on, 4 if we want to bring in another non-homegrown player. We are only allowed 17 non homegrown players, and currently we have 20. Here's the list of non homegrown players. Cech, Courtois, Schwarzer, Ivanovic, Azpilicueta, Luis, Ramires, Hazard, Mikel, Salah, Van Ginkel, Marin, Oscar, Schurrle, Matic, Willian, Romeu, Torres, Costa, Drogba. 3 of these won't make next seasons squad and my choices are Mikel, Marin and Torres, and if we do go in for another striker i think Schwarzer will be left out of the squad. We really are struggling with the homegrown players right now, so i think we will see a few of the younger players used this season. Ake and Baker being the main 2 i think. July 30, 201411 yr Only a result if we reinvest back into the squad preferably in the form of Cavani and/or Pogba. Lol
July 30, 201411 yr Someone needs to change the thread title, it's clear the man does't want to have anything to do with Chelsea for now. I'm glad its over, only surprise was somehow Everton came up with the money, hopefully it's not deferred payment over the next 140 years. The guy is not interested in trophy or titles, he wants to play carefree every weekend, so good for him. 2 or 3 years down the track, he will have a different priority, and we will hear him on twitter begging to move to a bigger club. We will be bidding for him when he's 25. I don't think the club is at fault for this one. Anyone who prefers to play for Everton instead of Chelsea should just f* off ( provided they have paid up). Jose has let go Ba and Etto to accommodate the return of Lukaku, and I believe Drogba only came back because Lukaku has made up his mind already. Lukaku just can't expect a club like Chelsea not to have any other strikers, and makes him the automatic first choice. A smaller club offered that opportunity, and he took it. Despite his potential and ability, let's just remember if Marin scored more goals for Chelsea than him in the last 2 seasons, He really hasn't done anything for Chelsea. Don't trip on your way to Goddison, Romelu

We aren't buying anyone Maintain my stance - mourinho gets sacked this season because we come up short in terms of goals

Schwarzer will likely not be included in the squad if we have too many players. Blackman would act as third choice and Mark would still get paid. If Cech or Courtios got injured he would replace them in the squad when we can re list it I would imagine. Just because Romeu signed a new deal does not mean Jose wont loan him out imo. I would not rule out MvG going on loan either. Then you have the list of player that would go if we got suitable interest in, Torres, Marin and Mikel.
July 30, 201411 yr Sage, I can't work out if your a truculent teenager or an eccentric old man. But the way you've constantly repeated yourself i would go with the latter Sage, Oh bloody hell it's catching
July 30, 201411 yr To be even fairer we could stop using cliches Cliches? Is there anything in my statement that is not correct?
July 30, 201411 yr Cliches? Is there anything in my statement that is not correct? Sorry mate it's just all the football pundits especially on 5live constantly say "To be fair". Danny Mills being the worst but to be fair Steve Claridge is not far behind
July 30, 201411 yr Hello all, just thought I'd log in to see your views on lukaku leaving and what your views were on him as a player in general. Have to admit, 28 mil is a bit steep, especially for a club in our financial situation but I'm delighted we got him all the same. But come on, please don't have a pop at Everton, calling us a "small club","he'll move onto a bigger club than them" etc etc. There was a time when chelsea were in a position similar to ours and I'd give me right plum to have a billionaire owner but we can all dream. We've lost a few big names over the years but I didn't personally benefit from any profits, nor was I out of pocket when we splashed a bit of dosh but still love my club all the same and will always follow them just like you lads and Chelsea. So good luck this season lads and let us enjoy a bit of good news for a change, it doesn't happen often for us. I'm looking forward to seeing how you do now Jose has got the team he wants this season and have tipped ya's for the title.

July 30, 201411 yr Let's go for Rooney, he's homegrown... Do we have any serious homegrown options available?

I for one have nor ever had a problem with EFC and the things Moyes and now Martinez have and are pulling off is nothing short of miraculous considering the budget. Surprised to see them spend so much on Lukaku. I assume they feel Lukaku is their man and that he fits in very well. It's a bit of a tragedy to see this whole Lukaku/Chelsea unfold the way it did but in the end it works for everyone. Lukaku gets his starts, Everton get their man, and Chelsea get a nice fee for a player who didn't want to be there.

I don't think i have seen anyone call Everton a small club. If anything, most Chelsea fans only have good things to say about Everton.
July 30, 201411 yr Let's go for Rooney, he's homegrown... Do we have any serious homegrown options available? Only if we can take his contract and cut his wages and the amount of years off and let United deal with the rest of what he is owed.
