Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

I havent been on recently so ill weigh in with my two cents/

28 million pounds for a kid who wouldnt get in our starting 11 is a great price, almost robbery. The transfer value of players is rising so quickly its quite scary really.

We all wanted him to succeed, Chelsea fan, passionate, that video etc. But he didnt want to succeed.

This is the second season he refused to compete. I want fighters in this squad, not brats.

There was that moment in the World Cup when he was subbed. Not the kind of attitude I'd want at Chelsea.

Overall, Im happy to have him gone for such a fee, just a shame to a premier league club.

£28m is an excellent price for him. I think he'll do well at Everton, but if he was not happy to fight for his place here, where he supposedly wanted to play, a Champions League club as well, then so be it.

I just pray that Costa doesn't have a significant drop in form or injury, because Torres and Drogba is a weak strike force. Schurrle may have to step in.

Schurrle, if IRC, has done so, and rose to the occasion with a hat trick.  He did it once, he can do it again if he has to.

Same price as Sanchez for an unproven talent ..... Come on.....that has to be a good deal.

Sure he could turn out to be a world beater but equally things could go the other way. If Jose felt he couldn't work with him for whatever reason or felt he didn't have what it takes then we would never see the best of him in a Chelsea shirt....end of story.

I doubt any of this is personal so all decisions appear to have been made based on legitimate evidence. Jose has had plenty of time to assess Lukaku's development after all. What we're fed through the media is all fluff anyway.

An excellent point regarding Bamford earlier.....

I would be staggered if we don't bring in another quality striker before the close.

Don't begrudge him a bit for leaving, but also don't blame us for selling.

He's found his level for now I think. His touch wasn't good enough for here, but his goalscoring meant he didn't deserve to be third choice striker either.

Best of luck to him, thanks to Everton for the 28m and we can all go on our merry way.

Lukaku's career has to go up. Under the guidance of Martinez this young and talented player will get better. I wouldn't be too surprised to see him scoring close to 20 goals in the next season. He certainly has the potential to do it.

Will that even get him a Premiership medal or a shot at champions league games? do not think so.

While he may not push on at all, I've seen goals from him but his general football ability needs vast improvment.

The very top footballers need desire and mental strength to get to that level...I see none of that in Lukaku.

I have no bad feeling toward Romelu, he said he wanted to be the man (rightly or wrongly) and we said no guarantee. We got a great price for him and it satisfies a few other criteria as well. Good luck to him at Everton, hope he has a nightmare against us and scores a hatful against everyone else.

As previous poster said, if he takes points from teams in with a good chance of winning the league, it's a great deal. If he doesn't and takes points from us... well, FFS.

I don't, because I don't think its ever happened. Maybe Borini scoring the winning goal in the COC for sunderland. Am I blanking the rest that proves this is a thing ??

Quitter, if Josés quotes are true then him demanding a first choice role at a club like this and accepting no competition at all hes not a player I want at this club.

In 2011 Lukaku was bought to replace Drogba. In 2014 Drogba was signed to replace Lukaku. Lol.

No he wasn't.

Im not entirely gutted about this. He could have done a job for sure but IMO I don't think he was as good as some are making out and will never be worth more then 30 million. I was upset with sturridge leaving because I rated him a fantastic talent.

We do however need a more then what we have up front.

We will also need to seem more of Andre this season, Lampards goals are gone and Andre looks like the next best option from deaper positions

Both sides have embellished their side of the story quite a bit, I think reality lies somewhere in between.

Either way, I always have respect for those who just want to play regardless of where/who it's with. I wish him all the best.

Can't wait for the massive influx of depression posts whenever he so much as makes a good run.

I'll be more depressed every time I see Torres come on to the field knowing it didn't have to be this way.

Part of me is glad he's gone.  Instead of buckling down and fighting for his spot, he complained to the press at every turn.  Jose doesn't want whingers, he wants fighters.  Add to that, we got a cool 28 million for it.
