Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Would anyone be interested in a Matic type deal, maybe some 3-4 years down the line?

I know he's looked upon as bit of a twat here at the moment, but he's still one of the best strikers around at his age.

Honestly it would depend on cost, considering we sold him for the best part of £30m in the first place even 3-4 years time Everton are going to want some serious coinage for him to recoup their cost... Can I see him developing into a player I would want us spending £40m+ on?

No.

Basically I think he had his chance with Chelsea but for whatever reason felt he should be playing every week rather than trying to seize on opportunities when they presented themselves... He'd much rather big a big fish in a little pond than trying to prove he is actually good enough for a top side.

Most Everton fans I've heard speak about him really don't like him and think he was a amssive waste of money.

£28m, thank you veyr much  :laugh2:

Who says this sort of stuff when they are playing sh*t?

Get your head down Lukaku score goals and then tempt for a move when you actually look worthy of it.

This says a lot about his character. Honestly when the lad first came I really liked him as a person, I thought he wasn't arrogant enough, he seemed like a big softy, did anyone see the video when he was crying and expressing how much it means to him to be at a club like Chelsea? Amazing isn't it how times have changed. Seems his attitude has took a turn for the worst.

I don't think 28 million is going to look like great business in 5 years time. He may be a spoilt kid, but he's confident and ambitious. Reminds me a bit of Sturridge in that way and we know how much he'd be worth now.

If I were rich I'd put money on him not making it as a top player at least in England. Sturridge is very different actually has a decent first touch and is a much better finisher than Lukaku. Plus he always worked hard unlikely Romelu who wants it handed to him.

I dunno to be honest.

He obviously has a talent but who knows where he will take it. Had he been like Costa who stuck in, did his time on loan and waited for his chance to come even when Falcao was still about then maybe he would have been able to fulfil his Chelsea ambitions?

On the other hand he could be another Ballotelli type who was regarded as a potential superstar as a young kid but has never been anywhere long enough or had the patience and mind set to evolve into a top footballer.

We made in our situation the best decision getting a near £30 million for a player who hasn’t proven anything yet and who clearly didn’t want to wait it out for his own chance and get in the team by merit.

I'm not saying he'll become this world beater who will make us deeply regret selling him. But if he stays in this league, and ends up at one of our rivals, I.can see him being a real pain in the ass for many years.

Bobby, there were many negative comments about Sturridge on here around the time he left also. And a 21 year old can definitely improve his first touch and finishing. In fact, when you think about how far he is from being a finished product, that is the actual scary part.

He has a worse first touch than Paul Furlong, and its not gotten any better since his move. As zeta said the Everton fans I know are sick of him wasting attacks and wouldnt be upset if he left. Great business by the club to get that much for him.

Completely agree, he's absolutely sh*t.

Got a bit of muscle and thats it.

I still think he looks a bit too 'chunky', he's obviously not as bad as he was when we had him in the squad first time but still needs to lose a few pounds.

His first touch has always been brutal, at the world cup it was laughable how bad it was. Everytime the ball came to him his second touch was a tackle.

To be fair are we sure that's what he said? When speaking his voice would have been muffled because he's still in Zouma's pocket.

I think I've posted that about 3 times in and around various threads, that'll be the last time, still true though.

I've just looked up Furlong on wiki as I couldn't remember what happened to him after he left Chelsea.

Turns out he was playing into his 40's! Retired at the end of the 2011-12 season have scored 6 goals in 22 games for St Albans City.... what a lad!

Is that right, I used to like him, even though he was a bit pooh .

We shall see, no doubt in my mind when Sturridge was here he looked better than Lukaku does right now

One of our big three signings in 1994 along with Scotty Minto and David Rocastle (RIP) and the thing he's remembered for is a goal going in off his arse in a Cup Winners Cup match.

With Romelu's latest rant to the media I think we were lucky to get £28m for him. He really just needs to get his head down and learn his trade, something we've all been saying for ages.

What a clown.

Just didn't get the service he needed was all *ahem*

Should have went and played in Spain.

I lost respect for Lukaku a long time ago but now he's justified why it was worth selling him and why he'll never be a great player until he trains hard, works hard and actually earns the plaudits and respect he deserves by playing good football rather than talking himself up in the media.

He's attitude pissed me off when he was with us and I was ecstatic he was gone and I was even more delighted by the 28m transfer fee we received from Everton which was an absolute rip-off for the Toffees. My impressions is they wouldn't be disappointed if he was gone as well especially after his latest declaration of wanting to play for a 'top club'.

He has a terrible first touch which I can't see improving too much and his body language can be very poor when things aren't going his way. His upper body strength is his biggest advantage otherwise he's a good ordinary player who will contribute well as a striker but won't ever become elite.

None of the bitters that I know are impressed with this lad. Has the potential but not the fight or desire. Wants it all now, and on a plate. Whether he'll change will probably depend on who's managing him.
