October 23, 201411 yr My only issue with hazard is that he seems to lack 'clinical' finishing, his build up play to get in front of goal is immense but 9 times out of 10 he seems to produce a lazy pea roller, if he could work on his shooting he will be the best player in the world in 2/3 years in my opinion

October 24, 201411 yr I guess Hazard's apparent lack of killer instinct in front of goal is the difference between him and say another highly rated young player like Neymar. Hazard's ability to take on players is awesome but imo he doesn't seem to use his pace to run in behind as much as he actually could. I do feel that Hazard in 2/3 years time will easily be a top 5 player in the world in comparison to the other talents of his generation. But players like Neymar, Bale will have the edge in terms of goalscoring. Take nothing away from Hazard he is absolutely world class but without the ridiculous goal scoring stats he can't be the best. A prime example of this was the game against Maribor where Drogba played him in and he chose to try and cut back instead of hit it first time which most probably would have went in to the net. But those are the fine margins that differentiate players from being good/great and the best.
October 24, 201411 yr I do apologise if I sound a bit 'grass is always greener on the other side' I am completely a fan of Hazard and what he brings to the team maybe even a fanboy of sorts. But I'm merely acknowledging that he could be even better.
October 24, 201411 yr I think the comparisons with Messi are unfair. Messi is possibly the best player to ever play the game, it's very unlikely that another one like Messi is going to appear anytime soon. It's an interesting point, because he has so much ability, he can do a lot of stuff Messi can do, obviously not like Messi though. Just he can really take advantage of his skills, sometimes it's not even being a better finisher it's just actually taking the shot or doing another step over. Even when he finally scored in the last game he still took about 2 turns after his first touch, that can become predictable if he isn't going to hit it first time half the time. Although I will say that we don't need a Lionel Messi, Hazard will be Hazard not a Messi. We don't just train players to be the next Messi they are going to be something completely different, Hazard will always be a more wider player but I do believe he can add more goals to his game and if he does he could be over 20 goals a season player on average. I do genuinely believe that.
October 26, 201411 yr Game by game our Hazard is climbing the leader I wish he scored that goal it would of made our night
October 27, 201411 yr The thing keeping hazard from being absolute top tier is finishing the move off right. His final ball be it a shot or pass has to be more clinical for him to have any chance of reaching the very top. He's an incredibly dangerous player though...his ability to dribble through congestion is unreal.
October 31, 201411 yr Chelsea forward Eden Hazard could sign a new long-term contract within a month says Jose
October 31, 201411 yr His brother scored another cracker on Wed night. Think the goal was on the daily mail site.
October 31, 201411 yr I really hope he signs a new contract, possibly a 5 year deal. We need to keep him out of the grasps of madrid by any means possible. We are building an empire here and eden is the man we got to build around. Edited October 31, 201411 yr by enigma
October 31, 201411 yr Eden could have had 4 or 5 against Maribor. That would have been something special. Scores 2 goals. Misses a couple of opportunities by trying to be too fancy. Gives Drogba then penalty that was earned. Edited October 31, 201411 yr by AlexTommo
October 31, 201411 yr I'm still not impressed with his goalscoring form... he just doesn't score enough I mean he gets decent amount of chances but he just doesn't take them I mean he's not clinical! 13 apps 4 goal (2 pens). He just doesn't do justice to the chances he creates for himself. Even Sanchez is scoring for fun, and he's relatively new to the league... Hazard is a good player, but unless he starts to shoot more he'll never be considered as good as the likes of Reus and Neymar and be more clinical.
October 31, 201411 yr How many did Reus and Neymar score last season at club level? I'd be surprised if it was significantly more than Hazard.

Why don't you wait until the end of the season before looking at how many goals/assists Hazard has. Did you also ever consider Hazard's general overall play is better for the team than simply scoring goals? You'll notice his runs etc start moves off and he often gets the pass that leads to the assist. Have a little patience.

"He just doesn't do justice to the chances he creates for himself." Like I said I think it's true, I know Hazard is overall a better player than Sanchez. But the thing is he lacks killer instinct in front of goal, I know his runs, his creativity, his dribbling ability is second to none.. it's just killer. But he needs to be more clinical, and needs to develop that killer instinct in front of goal. And yeah I agree, Hazard's overall influence in our gameplay has been excellent this season but it could have been much much better had he converted the chances he has created for himself. I dunno how you guys disagree with me.. I think he can very well be a 25-30 goals a season player for us if he just improve those aspects. And he really needs to do that to be considered a genuine contender for top 5 of Ballon D' Or or other awards. P.S just my opinion.
October 31, 201411 yr £180,000 a week. Surely not lol. He wa son like £25k odd at Lille I remember reading. Doubt any team would give someone a £160k wage rise.
October 31, 201411 yr Surely not lol. He wa son like £25k odd at Lille I remember reading. Doubt any team would give someone a £160k wage rise. They would if three teams triggered his release clause and were in a bidding war for him. £180k a week is regularly reported in the media.
October 31, 201411 yr What's his current salary btw? €185k per week. That's the amount which was enclosed to the media when he signed for us.
November 1, 201411 yr I think he's worth it due to his ability. However, if if you want to talk about the morality of it, then he is paid way too much, same as any other footballer to be honest. At the end of the day, he is our best player and should be paid the amount to reflect this.
November 1, 201411 yr It would be wonderful if a law was passed requiring footballers earning above a certain annual wage (and other sportspeople/entertainers/directors earning ridiculous money) to donate 5-10% of their annual income to projects in Africa and other developing countries. Edited November 1, 201411 yr by Jonty
November 1, 201411 yr they're 'overpaid' because there are hundreds of millions of people around the world willing to fork out their money to watch them ply their trade if there was no demand for it(football in general) and they were still getting paid what they are then that reasoning could fly always irks me sometimes when some people might say oh they get paid millions for kicking a ball! It's like the years of training and applied knowledge that went into their game from since they were children somehow doesn't mean anything. Hazard became a paid pro at 16 and spent 13 years of his life training himself to get to that point. supply and demand
