Posted March 22, 201311 yr The Worst Player To Get Consistently Picked For England? Might score the odd good goal, but overall his play is appalling!
March 22, 201311 yr Glad I wasn't the only one to notice just how poor he was. In their prime though would you pick Young or Carlton Palmer?
March 22, 201311 yr No chance, Milner is the worst, this guy gets picked even though he does nothing EVER. Lescott ain't far behind, the guy can barely move, he needs to do a little hop to pass the ball, that's unacceptable for an athlete.

March 23, 201311 yr He's bad but we've had so many sh*te players get so many caps for us in recent years. Jamie Carragher, Wes Brown, Stewart Downing, James Milner, Emile "7 goals in 62 caps" Heskey, Nicky Butt, Darius Vassell and Jermaine Jenas. And that's just players in the last few years. I'd still take Young over Milner or Downing, but really Adam Johnson should be the man out on the left wing, I think he has bags of potential.

March 25, 201311 yr Emile Heskey has no place in a worst England players topic. He could have dominated and scored shed loads of goals, but he was too humble. Instead he was a working man's forward and consistently aided his teams, even when he looked winded and ineffectual. It's because he gave so much. He could have been Pele but he chose to be Heskey. Legend.
March 25, 201311 yr We really are crap aren't we? There has been opportunites to pick better players and give them a go but we never do. It's basically like this, English player plays for one of the top sides/most supported clubs they get picked, it doesn't matter if they lack any real quality. I hate this excuse "Well if he can play for top side like Manchester United then he is good enough for England" What a load of bollocks that is. Edited March 25, 201311 yr by Scott Harris

Adam Johnson had his chance and proved he was yet another overhyped english player who was no better than the likes of Downing. I don't think Young is bad per say, I just wouldn't ever start him. He's always been better coming off the bench if memory serves me right. If you're talking about him in general then yeah, he's pretty f**king dire.

I've ended up watching a lot of Sunderland games this season (not sure why but they always seem to be on before our games), and he has always posed a big threat on the wing, he's a great dribbler, puts a good cross in and can score goals, Young, Milner and Downing can do none of the 3.

Milner can't do anything, i would love to know what it is that this guy actually does to deserve a England call up. I hear it's because he's a typical hard working English player So if working hard is all it takes to get into the England team then maybe everybody should be called up. March 26, 201311 yr 2nd half dire, watching from 10 mins in and i proudly declared what do Milner Carrick and now Gerrard, but especially Cleverley bring to that team, no creativity, no pace, nothing, and now Gerrards pace has gone he looks Cleverley-esque, no subs of note, no out and out Striker, hodgson is the return of Graham Tayor..
September 11, 201311 yr Author I just thought I'd bump this thread after Ashleys superb performance (sarcasm) against Ukraine last night. This guy is 1 of the worst players I have ever seen for England, last night he was shocking when he came on. Oh and he's a coward as well.
