Jose Mourinho is considering bringing goalkeeper Diego Lopez with him from Real Madrid to Chelsea to provide stronger back-up to first-choice Petr Cech next season.

Mourinho stunned Spanish football by picking Lopez ahead of Iker Casillas for the second half of the campaign.

The decision caused a lot of friction in the dressing room and Lopez is believed to want to quit the club now that Mourinho is leaving and expected to join the Blues early next month.

Chelsea have had a problem regarding their second and third-choice keepers ever since Carlo Cudicini joined Tottenham in 2009.

Current duo Hilario and Ross Turnbull have struggled and are out of contract this summer. However, the club are considering offering Turnbull an extension despite him making just 19 appearances in four years.

Funnily enough I was thinking this might happen last night. Wouldn't be against him for back up at all.

We would easily have the best goalkeeping duo in the Prem.  God forbid Cech suffered a nasty injury again, Diego Lopez would be a great man to bring off the bench and fill in for Cech while he recovered.

I wouldnt be against it. It has been ages since Cech actually had what you would call a real challenger for his place in the team.

For backup hell yeah.

Lopez has been so good since signing for Real. Hell yeah.

Would be a good signing assuming he isn't overpriced. He'd probably be the best back up in the PL.

I would be very happy if this happened. Quality back up keeper and id be far more comfortable seeing his name on a team sheet then Turnbull

Can you really see him wanting to be a number 2 again after playing for Real Madrid for most of the second half of the season? He could go to a lot of clubs in Spain and be their number 1.

If he's happy to be backup, then hell yes. Can't see it happening though. Although I don't think he'll stay at Madrid. When the new manager comes in Casillas will go back to being first choice.

I think Madrid will move him on as soon as possible. He is a living symbol of Jose's reign, and his insistence on playing players on form rather than reputation, which is antithetical to what Madrid stand for. "San Iker" lost his starting place and I'm sure they will want the head of everyone involved in that to roll.
