The 20-year-old's agent recently confirmed he had received "many offers", including two from Chelsea and Premier League champions United, while Tottenham are also rumoured to be showing interest in the South Korea international, along with clubs from Italy.

Ok there are no solid rumors yet but I think this lad would be a great fit for Chelsea.

First, he's a promising player.

The club has made it a priority to extend that as the 20-year-old attacker is on fire in the Bundesliga. Shinji Kagawa may have impressed for Manchester United but no Asian footballer in Europe has had the same impact this season as the South Korean

After impressing in the reserves, he earned a debut in November 2010 against Koln and scored. Ruud Van Nistlerooy waxed lyrical. "After a training session, you can see that he is something special," the Dutchman said. "Son is the future. With him, HSV will have a lot of success. He is young, has a good head, and even at the age of 18 is making a significant impact in the Bundesliga."

Next, it is important for Chelsea to grab a foothold in critical asian markets like South Korea. Now that Park Ji Sung is gone from Manchester United it is the PERFECT time for Chelsea to grab the Koreans loyalty by getting Son.

Manchester United = no Park Ji Sung, no Alex Ferguson plus Shinji Kagawa being there (bitter history between koreans and japanese) means Koreans are a bit more lukewarm towards United than before.

Arsenal = Signed Park Chu Young then didn't play him at all so that move backfired and many Koreans don't like Arsenal.

Liverpool = No particular links with korea other than they're always linked with acquiring korean players like Son or Ki Seung Yeoung but never do.

Manchester City = Basically in the same boat as Chelsea in the korean market.

Also no doubt Samsung (a korean company in case you weren't aware) will be very pleased by this so they'll proabably express that through some kind of expanded partnership or something.

So Chelsea should do this for both footballing and marketing reasons.

If buying him means we get a massive windfall of shirt sales in Korea and he pays for himself 6x over then whatever, play him in cups and put him on the bench.

Do you mean Heung-Min Son?

I am always getting a bit hot-and-bothered when the Asian names are not turned around to how they would be in non-Asian countries.

"Son" is the surname, and "Heung-Min" is the first name of this bloke.

Remember the "Park ji-song" saga?  They finally got around to calling him Ji-song Park, as it should be over here.
