I have Pauls book, which I actually still have to read.

Can't help but feel a bit depressed after reading what some of our own lot did to this fella. Also, my appreciation for Pat Nevin continues to rise.

Why does it make him a piece of sh*t? As long as hes a good father to them all then what exactly is the problem? There are plenty of dads out there who have only one kid and are dreadful fathers, they are pieces of sh*t.

An incredible man by all accounts, to put up with what he did was pretty remakable.

 

I'd be interested to meet some of the people that used to abuse him to see if they were just following the herd or if they had strong racist feelings, then to find out if they have changed.  I bet some feel terrible about what they used to get up to while there's bound to be many that will just brush it under the carpet as "the way it was".  Fortunately there were people like wee Pat Nevin around that knew the difference between right and wrong and weren't affraid to speak up.

 

What's really good is to see that Canners is so enthusiastic about the work he's doing now, using all of those negatives that he's experienced to help others.

You forgot he nearly died of cancer.

I read his book a few years back, bloody good read, he's certainly turned his life around.

Actually well yes..... Not every one gets a fairy tale life, people change over years and some times the things that brought to people together aren't there any more. I can tell you kids are better of with with non married parents then being in the middle of a miserable marriage....

Calling someone a "piece of sh*t" for having kids goes beyond just having an opinion. Then going on to imply that children born out of wedlock don't "turn out great".  

 

If you don't see why that may be interpenetrated as offensive then there's the problem right there. 

I was born out of wedlock, in fact I've never met my real dad. But in my opinion I'm a decent person, I'm a good husband and friend and I will do everything in power to he the best dad I can be. This pillocks views are imbecilic and moronic. But that's just my opinion.

Met him on the US Tour last year in Seattle, was there with Sinclair and Spy.  Spy was decent, Sinclair was not saying much, but Paul was a true gent.  In with the supporters, having a laugh.  Talked to him about his book and he was very proud of it.  I thanked him for being a key figure in the history of our club.
