Dzeko or Hernandez

Featured Replies

Hi there

I am new on here so this will be my first post

I hope you are all well.

There has been alot of stuff in the papers this morning about Jose being ad odds with Roman over some transfer dealings. Particularly the need for a striker.

I don't believe that for a second Roman who is an intelligent business man cannot see that we need one.

What I can appreciate is that currently we have Lukaku on loan making a nuisance of himself with Everton and despite the "public spat" I believe jose feels that Romelu is a perfect fit for the team and just needed him to go out and hone his skills again.

I also feel that jose has sent him on loan because i feel that he is tied to getting the best out of Torres so that Roman can see a return on his investment. If he can then fair enough but if he cant Roman will ave to act so its win win for jose.

I follow a fella on twitter @fizzyjacko who says contrary to what the papers are saying jose has been given the green light to spend on a CM and a striker.  It wont be a big  one and has linked us with Dzeko and Hernandez, The former i feel would be a good fit for our current set up.

yes i know its some guy on twitter but he is very good.

what would be your thoughts on this ?

Firstly welcome to the forum.

The striker is obviously a position a lot of us want to see improved.

We was linked with Dzeko during the summer and I personally wasn't against the idea but the same goes with Hernandez, if they aren't good enough to be first choice for their current clubs, then they aren't good enough to be first choice at Chelsea either.

Hernandez is a great squad player but I have my doubts about whether he could lead the line for a top side week in, week out.

Dzeko's scoring record for City is actually very respectable and if I had to choose between the two it would be him but he has shown for City previously that he can go missing for long periods and does he have the ability to have the quality of link up play required to help get the best out of our attacking midfielders?

Dzeko's all round game is pretty poor, for such a big guy his hold up play is awful. Although, surprisingly, he's actually a really good passer and has great vision but you will have to suffer through a lot of horrible misses and him losing possession before you get to see it.

I haven't watched him a huge amount I will admit.

He seems a player capable of doing some really good things but can infuriate as well, like you say from not being able to do things you would think he can do (such as hold up the ball well).

He's a decent player I think but perhaps not the style we striker would ideally like to see.

Having said that, looking at his goals last season he scored 14 goals in 32 league appearances which is respectable but scored 15 in 44 appearances all competitions, which is close to Torres numbers so would he really be an improvement?

Overall just to throw it out there he has 46 goals in 118 appearances for City.

You can have Dzeko by all means, he does get goals but his overall play is frustrating as hell compared to Negredo and Aguero. Disgusting attitude at times as well.

Why on earth would City or United want to sell us any of their decent players? They dont want to help us win the league!

I dont even think silly money would convince them to sell either of those players

I think it was generally accepted that Lukaku wasn't sent out on loan by anybody (especially not Jose) but actually pushed for the loan move himself so that he would get more games. I'm only guessing here, but I have a feeling that the World Cup next summer might have had something to do with it, at least a little bit.

Anyway, to answer your question, I'm another one who wouldn't particularly want to see either of them in blue. Good players but not really enough of an improvement over the players we already have to make the signing worthwhile.

Really wouldn't be opposed to someone like Dzeko, but I'd rather if we went for someone like Luis Muriel from udinese, seeing as we have lukaku to come back, he's a different style of striker, very akin to aguero, and he'd be a good addition to the squad.

muriel has 3 goals from 11 matches so far in serie A

thats hardly any better than what we have now

He was injured from the beginning of the season to october and he got injured again in november. Hard to get a run of form going. When you watch him as opposed to looking at stats on who scored then you see that he's a good player
