Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Chelsea shying away from Costa is very good news...

I simply don't think he has the skill set to mesh with our creative players and when you play 20 games per season against 10 teams who more or less sit 10 behind the ball Costa won't be the man that gets us the breakthrough.

We need a striker with more touch and ability in tight space.

I still hold out hope we will sign Benzema somehow. If not we should look at Falcao, or go all out for Rooney.

First of all, from where did you get that Chelsea are shying away from Costa? Secondly, Costa is our most realistic option, Benzema isn't for sale unless Madrid sign a big name striker and even then it isn't guaranteed, Falcao is 28 and just had a serious injury and going all out for Rooney didn't end well for us last time (he will also be 29 in October and is on crazy wages at Man Utd).

We do not have many options, but if Atletico are being unreasonable after us loaning them a top young keeper for 3 seasons and allowing said keeper to play against us, contriving clauses in a contract they were willing to sign to get him, then that says a lot.

Time to move on to another target if this is the case, if the Spanish taxes force this deal in to the upper regions of 50mill plus then is too much money imo.

Chelsea is the club that is willing to pay a lot of money to Atletico. If they are not ready to deal with Chelsea, then it's time to move on. Atletico is in deep financial trouble, I read. Therefore, they are not in position to dictate the conditions.

It's our own fault we are in this situation. A few years ago instead of signing Torres we should have gone for Aguero, we seemed interested in Aguero for years but we go for the player who was clearly fading.

Then not too long later we have Sturridge and instead of playing him up front we stick him on the wing, which he played very well even when he wanted to be the main striker.

Sturridge was the solution to our problems, but because the club have this facination with buying ridiculously over priced strikers we gave up on him. Now we are looking at Costa, a player who in my opinion isn't anywhere close to giving us what Aguero or Sturridge would have given us.

We need to keep in mind. Chelsea is undoubtedly one of the richest clubs. Roman is not going to sign a mediocre player.

Which Costa isn't

I'm repeating it I know but still I don't think he's worth 32millions especially for his quality. Mind you this is just my personal opinion just that's it.

Well Mourinho said we are in need for a striker who scores goals out of nothing(Yeah that fool will come up with that one goal again) and creates goals for himself when there is very less space and who is like a fox. FWIW most of Costa's goals are from counters and when there is space given.

And in Premier league especially small teams they are not going to give Costa that kind of space they will just sit back with 8 players inside the box. So here we need a clever and a striker who can create chances for himself.

And Diego Costa is certainly not that type of striker. That type of striker is Cavani, Suarez, Aguero, Falcao etc.

Costa is average neither too good neither too bad.

Don't call me a fool just because I disproved your statement you bell end.

Atletico just won the title with counter attacking football and Mourinho is arguably the best manager around for playing on the counter, that's how we won back to back titles with him after all.

So maybe, just maybe, Costa a player who thrived in a counter attacking team might just be a good fit for the Daddy of counter attacking football?

Or you could just carry on being a c**t and resorting to insults when people debate with you.

Oh my my someone is hurt here.

Yeah we do play counter attacking football mainly against good teams away from home but when we come up against small teams(who like to sit back most of the time) and have majority of the position we need a striker who is able to create the goals for himself and do score smallest of small chances.

And P.S read the comment more carefully before commenting.

And now who's insulting haha.

Anyways, I'm really sorry for insulting you(maybe I was in bad mood), please don't bother my comments. I just want to share opinions here not to make enemies especially with my fellow Chelsea fans.

Once again I'm sorry for my bad behaviour and don't bother my useless mocking on upper post.

I really just wish this would resolve itself.  Either get a deal done, or officially announce you are looking elsewhere.

Not sure we'll want to announce such a huge deal in the midst of all the World Cup news.

It deserves maximum publicity.

Kram,

Costa is much better than a mediocre player.

Thats what I was saying . I'm one of Costa's biggest supporters on here.

Of course AM haven't received any money yet, they won't get anything until Chelsea and Costa reaches an agreement and he passes a medical. He'll be signed next week you can bet on it. Well you could if betting wasn't already suspended on it...

Fact of the matter is that we need a new striker though, and Suarez isn't available to us. Neither Is Agüero. There are strong rumours that Falcao is going to sign for Real Madrid. That leaves Cavani, who PSG bought for around 60 million euros. I'm no businessman, but I'd assume PSG would at the very least want to break even there, maybe even make a profit, and suddenly the Costa deal doesn't look so bad considering it would be about half the price. I actually think it's a super deal. There have been plenty of top level forwards that weren't able to create chances for themselves, for example Raul, Inzaghi, and in the Premier League most notably van Nistelrooy. Not saying Costa will definitely reach their heights, but it's pretty far from doom and gloom.

Yes but JM wants someone who can make something out of nothing. Costa doesn't seem able to do this. He'll end up with the same service others have had here and likely with worse results.
