Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Well personally I think what he did does deserve punishment, despite how inconsistent the FA actually are with these kind of things.

What makes me laugh though is the lightening speed at which this has happened. We played Liverpool on Tuesday so a charge, appeal and ban have all happened within the space of 2 days. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but that's pretty damn hard to ignore when you think other charges have taken sometimes up to a week to make a decision.

Bunch. Of. Twats.

I don't think it has. I'm sure something similar will go unpunished between now and the end of the season.

You're probably right, but if that does happen it's power to the arm of those who there is an anti Chelsea vibe.

If I was a member of that panel I wouldn't accept a cup of tea from Roman.

What was the point of him even appealing, FA looked at it and dismissed it straight away.  I doubt they even looked into it, the decision was made so damn quickly.

f**ktards.

Don't understand why they bother with the pretence of a hearing, waiting for player response etc...once a player is charged they always find them guilty...Jt knows that better than anyone

Agree with latter statement, but reason it was so quick is cos of the significant difference in how incident was handled...as it was in league cup and under football league rules, they could just ask useless ref if he'd seen it and if not, would he have sent him off? Which out of depth Oliver confirmed he would and it snowballed from there..for league games, they have hassle of setting up three man panel to judge it, talk about the footage and come up with unanimous verdict...makes the whole process take a lot longer

Hoped he might get away with it but if I'm honest I think a 3 match ban is probably right - but it's not great timing.

All we can hope now is that FA show consistency going forward. If they don't, they they can expect problems!

Didn't think of that, fair dos. Still think if you have the chance to appeal, you should get a fair shot at it. Surely the morning after the night before isn't enough time...

The good thing is a lot of people on Twitter and other media (e.g. Gary Lineker, Paul Scholes) are kind of sticking up for him...where were they when this all kicked of?!

All those people thinking this sets a precedent, or expecting the FA to show consistency from now on ..

Excuse me for asking, but what planet are you on?

Have they ever shown any consistency about anything, why should they suddenly start now?

On the one hand it proves it's a stupid kangaroo court and is unjust, which sums up all of football's governing institutions tbh, I mean why not 6 matches then for treading on Skrtel too? Both incidents looked as intentional as each other (i.e. not).

On the other hand I don't care because Remy deserves more game time.

let's not be blind here, he deserved a ban for what he did, but it shows how inconsistent the FA are, looking back at things they just let go, Sterling swipe in the players face, Yaya kicked a player in the back last season? its things like that, that makes them a joke

But this case has been made so high profile Davey, I think they have now made a rod for their own back.

Next time there is any sort of similar stamping incident, they will HAVE to hand out same penalty. If they don't, there will be mutiny. And to be fare, as long as that is the case, then I don't have an issue. I know you love Costa mate, but what he did was wrong and if it had been say Rooney on one of our players, I would be calling for a ban.

I'm just surprised that an incident that took place in front of the technical area where the 4th official is located was also missed by the referee and his two assistants.

Thank god the Sky TV cameras were there showing it on loop from every conceivable angle in super slow motion so that the officials ineptness could be rectified retrospectively.

The two Liverpool sending offs and missed penalty? Oh they don't matter, all part of the game that.

Justice is served and let anyone tell you any different.

Yes I love Costa, my favourite player to make his debut for us in the last 15 years, but I'm not stupid, I know he's no angel, and I believe he meant what he did, but neither is Gary Neville stupid and IMO he got it right, as have others.

This case has been made so high profile Nibs, by the media. Their agenda still staggers me to this day. The headlines on all the back pages on Wednesday, incredible, mind-boggling, staggering.

I don't get what makes you think they will hand out the same penalty next time. Last season and this, we saw players get away with far worse, wasn't that a precedent? Besides, it only went before the FA because all the officials didn't see it and the media went into meltdown.

What are the chances of that happening when Steven Gerrard "accidently" stamps on someone, as he's done on more than one occasion?

Whoever the player whichever the club, it just won't warrant any attention, unless it's a real act of violent conduct.

On Tuesday we all saw what Markovic did, in the first-half, about halfway through. He barged deliberately into Luis, from the back, off the ball, and scuffed him round the neck. It was right in front of the fourth official.

I'm not saying it was a red card offence but I am saying it warranted a replay surely, did it not?

No-one's talking about it because nobody showed it, and that's just the way it goes.

Against Derby this season, their player got sent off, a blatant red. The co-commentator was beside himself with rage, he couldn't believe such an injustice had taken place.

Hoddle was in the studio and he's not only fair but has a Chelsea connection. He just said blatant red and moved on.

We don't get that kind of representation very often, and we very rarely get a fair hearing, IMO.

I wonder if the appeal was more about Jose and the club showing Diego they will back him all the way, rather than any real feeling the appean would actually overturn the decision. Anyway, f**k the FA.

It wasn't an appeal, you aren't allowed to appeal, if we could appeal we would and he would be available tomorrow.

I think you're right, they knew they stood no chance, but they wanted to place their feelings of innocence on record.

Think you're right dkw...they knew like the rest if us the fa had made up their mind, but backed their man anyway...good move and will fire up dressing room to do it for Costa tomorrow as well as for cfc and themselves

Our players will walk out at the Bridge with chests held high, Jose doesn't need to do a team talk tomorrow, the FA have done it for him.  I'll wait to see what our results are for the next three games. If we win all three, Costa will have had a nice long break and it won't have affected our league position in the slightest.

Time for the FA to start asking themselves how did the three match officials and a fourth who the incident happened right in front of all miss it.

Can we expect an apology for the missed penalties.

Michael Oliver is their golden balls at present.
