Available Dosh this summer?

Featured Replies

With the FFP kicking in, how much do you reckon we can spend this summer sorting out the squad? I'd like to see 2 or 3 decent strikers brought in and the wasters cleared off.

I know its hard to be accurate, but does anyone have any sort of idea of what we can spend?

Well with CL money and PL money you are looking at £70 odd million.

Then I think we have some money left over from the Mata/De Bruyne deals so maybe £80-85 million in total.

However if need be we could easily sell a few players to raise another 20-30 odd million.

Costa would cost 27-32 million going by reports but we still need a midfielder and left back cover. I suspect we will go for another forward if Lukaku isn't staying either.

I think money wise we should be OK.

I think the cash is there if the player is there FFP or not. We have the resources to mould the squad quite well. Its why I argue we should push Utd all the way for Shaw. £30mil is alot but to guarantee our LB for the next 15 years with an obvious England regular for the future (Present) will seem like peanuts in the long run.

We can never know properly how much the team have but relistically I dont expect a Net transfer of more then £50mil. We dont NEED it for a start, any purchases beyond a LB and a Striker will be offset by transfers out. I cannot see Jose being too busy unless we get insane bids for Oscar, Luiz, Hazard, Courtois.

+    I cant see us buying a CM unless Mikel and/or Luiz leave (£10-40mil).

+    I cant see a second striker (Bar Costa) coming in unless Torres AND Ba go (£20Mil combined ish)

+    We will will not spend £20mil on a replacement for either positions unless the right player becomes available. (Cavani, Khediera, Modric etc.)

Wages wont be an issue as Terry Lampard and Coles wages will either go or significantly reduce, Etoo wont renew, Torres probably will move

If reports are to believed and Luiz is indeed set for Barca after the World Cup, then we have a further £32M to spend.

Was always going to happen.

If we get £32 million for him someone deserves a medal.

I think he will be excellent for Barca.

He's a natural fit for them and Bayern Munich as well in terms of what they demand from their CB's. Puyol, Pique, Dante etc all basically play as auxiliary holding players pressed high up the pitch, a role in which Luiz would thrive IMO.

I think he will be excellent for Barca.

This is why I wont be disappointed if he goes. If ever a defender was made to play in their system, its Luiz. Within a year he'll be compared to Beckenbauer if he plays for Barcelona, mainly because of the Anti English sentiment around the British media and anti Chelsea (Foreign = Good, English = Bad, Fat Sam was right about his Alardici comment) But also he is that good, but just not in a Jose Mourinho defence.

But even if we did break FFP rules, does it really matter?

Didn't City and PSG get a fine of â‚¬60.000? If so then FFP is a joke.

If they don't get sactions like (for instance) banning teams from the UCL what good will it do?

I'm not really up to date on this, so could someone elaborate?

Plus City have had their Champions league team cut to 21 players next season, if they fail to meet financial fair play rules again i am expecting it to get worse.

€60m fine (spread over 3 seasons), 21 man squad instead of 25 for the CL next year and no rise in CL squad wage bill allowed.

We don't want that. :)

I take no credit, WAGNH is a great site to add to your favourites if you haven't already!

I usually only go there via links from here or newsnow, will have to check it more regularly.

Sure I read somewhere that it's a six figure fine they will pay and their squad will be deducted or whatever to just 22 in Europe... also have to play 8 "home-grown" players. I'll try and find out where I read that cause obviously it's a lot of bollocks with no source lol.

Point being though I'd rather not the break the rules when it comes to FFP.

How accurate is that ? Surely Man City would get a fair bit more than anyone else, they did win the thing afterall.

I guess it makes sense that the prize money isn't too top heavy, it would help to keep the Premier League competitive so that the same one or two teams don't win it every year like in other leagues.

That's indeed starting to sound more serious.

I don't know if there is anyone else from Holland on here, but I heard this when I watch pretty much the only football show here.

They were lauging at FFP and only mentioned the fine. Not the first time they aren't well informed though, but other than MOTD it's pretty much the only football show I can watch.
