Filipe Luis to Chelsea... and Back Again.

Featured Replies

Im sure he and Robbie Keane will get on well. Loves the Chelsea so he does.

Haha no one will ever best Robbie Keane, he supports every club he joins.

My point on Luis was he clearly just said he liked Chelsea but nothing about supporting us lol

Yeah, I hear what you mean re Luis

But everyone in Ireland grows up watching Inter Milan, leeds, spuds, liverpool, aston villa and La Galaxy.

Realistically, Filipe Luis is the most suited left-foot back in the world for Mourinho's tactical approach.

I doubt Atletico Madrid would have conceded that late goal equalizer in CL final if wasn't for Alderweireld replacing the injured Luis.

In fact, as soon as Luis went off at 83', Real Madrid's pressure became so unbearable that Atletico conceded four goals in the end.

I'm happy to have Luis in the team, age is a little concern because some players take a while to get used to the league. Luis may need a year or 2 in England before we see the best of him, but does he have the time at his age ? Like i said though, it's not a huge concern because i think he will start well.

I like having a mixture of experience and youth in the team, it's what you need to win major trophies.

Great point. I honestly don't think his age would have come into question if he was 27, about to turn 28.

He may be over here already but if he isnt you would think he would travel over here to discuss the contract and stuff. I would if it was me.

Yeah I get what you mean, he'll probably join up with the squad for the European trip

Brilliant signing, he's as defensively solid as anyone we are likely to find. He is consistent and his tackling and positioning are both brilliant, plus he can whip in a decent left-footed cross and add width down the left without abandoning his defensive duties. Not bothered by his age, in theory a full-back about to turn 29 should be at his peak, and it's not as if pace or physicality were ever a huge part of his game anyway. Great addition to the team, should slot straight into the first XI in a position which needed filling.

Great business by the club, we have spent the entire transfer window directly attacking positions in which the squad was previously light, without failing to sign anyone, signing more players than we would end up needing, or desperately signing someone at the last minute who was never really good enough and loaning the only alternative out to Arsenal/Everton/Liverpool/West Brom/whoever. What an enjoyable novelty!

All the important in coming transfers done before the world cup players link up with the squad.

Very happy with how we have conducted our business so far and with 40 or so days left we might have a surprise (or two) left up our sleeve.

Indeed, for me the best piece of business was having Fabregas wrapped up before the World Cup.

I'd be more than happy to go in with what we have now tbh but if we are to bring more in then all good.
