April 15, 201511 yr According to the BBC, Klopp is standing down to 'take a break from football'. I wouldn't blame him with the season he's just had. I hope he pundits a few games while on his sabbatical, he comes across as a really good guy when I've seen him interviewed.
April 15, 201511 yr Gundogan, Hummels and Reus could all follow. I'd take all three at Chelsea in a heartbeat.
April 15, 201511 yr Klopp would be perfect for City because he's very much about the project, rather than bringing in instant success... but it depends if the Man City owners will aceept that. But it wouldn't surprise me if it's for a rest, the guy looks like he's been through it recently.

Yes Arsenal and United have finished the season strong but if you're looking for a long-term coach then there's not many better options in my opinion. We haven't finished the job yet either....if Jose doesn't win the title from this position then he'd be a perfect fit for us too. But if he says he wants to take a break then I'm inclined to believe him. I think City are still focussed on getting Guardiola next summer and will go for a short-term solution until then, Wenger has done enough to allay the fears that always crop up amongst their fanbase and United will stick with Van Gaal, spend another £200 million and be more competitive next season. He does this last summer or next summer and he has the pick of jobs.

Do City bring in an interim, such as Benetiz for a year and then try to persuade Klopp or Pep to sign on? Question is would you trust someone like Benetiz to oversee a transition year at City? I certainly wouldn't.... So here's hoping it happens.

What if after a years break United decide to recruit Klopp and cut van Gaal's contract short by a year because the opportunity to bring in a long term replacement is too good to ignore? Alternatively, Madrid stick with Carlo for one more year and then replace him with Klopp should he fail to win La Liga?
April 15, 201511 yr What if after a years break United decide to recruit Klopp and cut van Gaal's contract short by a year because the opportunity to bring in a long term replacement is too good to ignore? Alternatively, Madrid stick with Carlo for one more year and then replace him with Klopp should he fail to win La Liga? Well the rumour is he's taking a two-year sabbatical but I think you're right - next season United could be on the lookout if Van Gaal doesn't win the title, Arsenal will be if it's another false dawn and City could be if they repeat this season and don't get Pep.....as could we. Maybe it's the perfect time for him to have a break. Of course there's options outside of this country too.
April 15, 201511 yr I've said it before and I firmly believe it - Pep wouldn't want any/the Man City project. He came into Barcelona and Bayern with the team united (i.e. playing well, good balance, established etc) and the players their peak. It wouldn't be the same at City and I think he'd get found out, aging stars, complying FFP, it's not a 'quick fix'. Maybe in a few years once someone has sorted them out, he'll sweep in, claim success and be hailed again. The PL has too many bigger teams, too many rivalries, there are too many upsets. How many true rivals did he have at Barcelona? One. How many at Munich? None by the looks of it, nothing serious anyway. In the PL he’d have to contend with us, Man Utd and Arsenal, the pressure of getting into the top 4 is big enough, let alone winning the league. Go for Benitez, coz that’ll be totes hilar.
April 15, 201511 yr He's gone to City.Definitely now I reckon, so they will have gone behind another managers back for a replacement. Seems to me he could have asked to leave Dortmund anytime this season with their form but the timing now is suspect. If City don't win against West Ham Pellegrini will be sacked and replaced by Viera and in the Summer Klopp will join. Edited April 15, 201511 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
April 15, 201511 yr in the guardian they reckon hes looking for another club, clearly not going on a gap year as rumoured.. Representatives of the 47-year-old have already received several inquiries for his services since the news of his departure broke on Wednesday morning but they have not entered any formal contract negotiations. Klopp is expected to take the next few weeks to carefully weigh up his options. Unlike Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel, however, he is unlike ly to take a sabbatical from football altogether. imo I dont think he's all that as his 'project' has ultimately failed and now hes jumping ship.
April 15, 201511 yr bollox...yeah dortmund have had a poor season, but he's worked wonders to beat bayern to title in 2011 and 2012 in the first place and in getting to cl final in 2013...his project was fcuked cos bayern stole his best players and dortmund won't pay big money to get replacements etc...don't blame him for quitting...what's the point of building a team if your club just keeps allowing themselves to be fcuked over by their fierce rivals
April 15, 201511 yr imo I dont think he's all that as his 'project' has ultimately failed and now hes jumping ship. Borussia Dortmund T-Home Supercup: 2008 Bundesliga: 2010–11, 2011–12 DFB-Pokal: 2011–12 DFL-Supercup: 2013, 2014 UEFA Champions League runner–up: 2012–13 I don't think any manager that wins back to back titles in a major European league is a more than competent manager. when you consider he's lost Gotze and Lewandowski for peanuts in the last couple of years you can't really expect him to achieved much more than he has.
April 15, 201511 yr lol. Dortmund are as big if not bigger than bayern and have loads of resources plus they were almost relegated once a few best players went. if he was a genius, he would of found more etc just like Jose, even without arab style funding. Everyone was crying about sam the eagle last year and now look. cant dispute his trophy haul but meh for me.
April 15, 201511 yr lol. Dortmund are as big if not bigger than bayern and have loads of resources Bayern are the fourth richest team in world football, so based on what you're saying Dortmund should be in the top 3? Or are they 11th, worth roughly a third of their rivals?

Klopp has done a great job and deserves respect.
April 15, 201511 yr I'd take an intelligent, insightful Tottenham fan over a moronic Chelsea fan on this forum any day. Agreed.
April 15, 201511 yr Saying Dortmund are as big as if not bigger than Bayern is the stupidest thing I've heard all year.
April 15, 201511 yr Their wage bill doesn't touch Bayern Munich. Klopp has done a great job and deserves respect. i read that qprs wage bill in '11 was bigger than Dortmund's which is amazing but im not even talking money, just in terms of stucture fanbase etc they have amazing ticket prices and amazing att (maybe by choice that they don't spend every penny of rev and low gate prices probably lowers it too) no doubt he deserves the respect, im not writing him off either im just saying i don't see a genius is all..bit like the 'eagle' german league to boot.
April 15, 201511 yr Saying Dortmund are as big as if not bigger than Bayern is the stupidest thing I've heard all year. lol. you're talking money though.
April 15, 201511 yr if we compare clubs by wealth then man city and psg are the biggest clubs in the world in front of madrid and barca if its how much money they generate then i presume real/barca if its trophys.... cumon boys this is silly lol
April 15, 201511 yr Klopp has said one of the reasons he's going is because of the players that were sold
April 15, 201511 yr lol. you're talking money though. I'm talking stature Bayern are a massive club. Dortmund isn't even close
April 15, 201511 yr I'm talking stature Bayern are a massive club. Dortmund isn't even close go and read dortmunds wikipedia mate. they've won everything, their history is amazing and arguably the most legit club in europe. ffs they beat juve in 97 to win cl after back to back league titles (the juve team with zidane and del peiro) Edited April 15, 201511 yr by Bigthrobberus
