Newcastle have to be the worst team in the league right now.

A clueless coach, and a bunch of players who stopped caring weeks ago.

Apart from against us(!) I don't think I've seen them put in a performance in the whole season, they’ve turned into a nothing club without an upset against the other top 5/6 teams in them. It still wasn’t that long ago they were relegated, not sure if Ashley is the sole reason for their problems but they do seem to have regressed under his reign.

Papers saying City are interested in Rafa Benitez as an interim manager for a year until they can get Pep Guardiola. Two things they obviously want Rafa in th hope he'd advance them in Europe and do they know for sure they'd get Guardiola? I'm not convinced. If they want Benitez then fine for me.

They did knock City out the league cup but then gave up after.

'...until they can get Pep Guardiola' - he wouldn't go there, not with FFP in place. The team isn't already in place like it was at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, fairly easy to get the best of out players who are already united and at their peak. Man City is a re-building job with financial penalties (although let’s face it, a point's deduction would be more of a deterrent), would he want that hassle?

I didn't realise Newcastle knocked Man City out of the CC, I guess it was a pretty weakened City side though?

Sterling needs to sort his sh*t out by the looks of things. 

 

I think as a 20 year old he's had his head spun a bit and I don't think he's coping with the pressure Rodgers and the Liverpool fans are putting on him to perform seeing as he is now arguably their best player since Suarez left and to be honest, I can see why he is reluctant to sign a new deal. 

 

Maybe the thought of moving to Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City or Manchester United appeals to him because the weight of expectation won't be so high and he can more freely express himself on and off the pitch. 

I think Sterling needs some help, maybe a stay at Betty Ford or maybe he should find a guru to live with him and balance his chi.....clearly he's on a downwards spiral. Makes Sid Vicious look like Peter Crouch.

It's a slippery slope though, if he wants to a top athlete he really shouldn't be seeking "legal highs" and worse yet getting filmed and photographed doing it.

 

Just look at Ravel Morrison for example, he's clearly a very talented lad but his off the field conduct has left him currently without a club at just 22.

 

Supposedly he's signing a 4 year deal with Lazio come the summer but you'll excuse me for thinking he might not be a success in Italy.

 

Sterling's a huge talent and hopefully he doesn't lose sight of what got him to where he is.

There just seems to be this media image of him, that he's some feckless youth who just wants money and doesn't take his career seriously.

 

Fact is he's played more minutes than all but 3 of our players in the league this season and will likely get more goals and assists than last season despite playing in a team who lost the best player in the league and have had their main striker injured for most of the year. He's 20 and he's been their best player. He'll be fine.

I think he'll be fine too, he's too good for his parent club to let slip. 

 

That said I don't think it's a coincidence that this is happened whilst a very difficult contract situation is going on. 

 

I mean him being heckled at a kit launch by his own supporters, that can't be easy to take for a 20 year old can it? 

 

Going to be interesting to see where he ends up next season, if there is any hint of him being available I wouldn't be surprised to see us, City and Arsenal sniffing around.

Also I think that the two Man Utd fans who have just joined seem like a decent pair, no need to judge them pre-emptively in my opinion. And I agree with Joey, Kinkladze is a great poster.

 

I think the forum is richer for having top-notch rival fans on here, especially when they can give us some insider knowledge as to what's going on at their club or when they are able to give us the temperature of their fanbase. Obviously you get a few arseholes who sign up for the wrong reasons but every fanbase has those, I'd take an intelligent, insightful Tottenham fan over a moronic Chelsea fan on this forum any day.
