United have agreed a fee of £59.7m for Di Maria, according to Sky sources. Insane money.

I think with this Torres is almost or already out of the top 10 most expensive transfers

What do people think of this transfer for Real Madrid?

I think them replacing Di Maria with Rodriguez leaves them worse off. Let's be honest, they only bought James because of him having a good World Cup.

Bit of a typical RM transfer to sign the flavour of the month. I haven't really seen enough of Rodriguez to say if he is an improvement or not but he did impress at the WC.

Good performance but the real test will be the 5th game of the season, I'd personally shake Jose's hand for a 0-0, Bore draw, Move on to the next game type of result. Have we learnt from our mistakes against Matic and co in the midfield area from last year or not? I hope so.

If Arsenal fail to make the CL group stage on Wednesday night do they automatically get entered into the Europa.

Yep. They would in effect be relegated to the Europa League.

There's a lot at stake for Arsenal and Wenger on Wed.

Cheers Spud, would love it if they joined you for Thursday night football. I think the Europa League is harder than the CL to recover from for the EPL.

Yep! :-)

It would be a disaster by their lights if they joined us in the Europa League. Fingers crossed...

Is a very amusing thought, but is never, ever gonna happen.

^ It is (harder to recover from). It's a waste of resources and energy unless you win it. Because you might win you put the resources in but it harmed our league performances last season, without a doubt.

Same as Swansea. I'd be worried if i was a Hull fan if they get through. Russia away on a Thursday followed by Southampton away on a Sunday. They just haven't got the resources to cope with potential trips like that.

Arsenal are 1 game away from being in the Europa League and Ramsey is suspended, Giroud injured and Sanchez doesn't work as a striker so they'll have to play Sanogo, it can very well happen tomorrow.

According to the latest, manures are willing to pay up to 72m for Di Maria. Lol. He is never worth that kind of money, I feel.

We finally agree on something. Cheers! Think you are spot on with that comment. I will add to it and that is they are spending that money on players they already have. United really need to spend on the back line and a strong midfield to play defensively. Otherwise they will be torn to shreds by a good offensive club. Anyone else seeing United is building themselves like an Arsenal? In the Premiership a strong and balanced midfield can win. I just don't see it here and then there is the back line that I feel is mid table at best.

Maybe if we loaned the Turks Drogba they would have a decent shout :) lol

Balotelli will do a lot to shore up these kind of defensive mistakes.....

Sitting in the pouring rain, he certainly didn't look to be too excited. Of course this all before Brendan will influence him to be on top of his game. He will promote the history of Liverpool and that'll turn him into a believer. After all if Jose, and Roberto couldn't do it surely Brendan and his philosophy can.

When people say 'f****** Scousers!' it's not an instruction.

Soz...

Lol! Ya know what if she is one of those Victorian Secret honeys just maybe! Just joking, more to a gal than the club she supports. In this case you can wager some good stuff for you and will probably win year in and year out on it. I will leave it to your imagination on that one but the possibilities are endless. My guess if that happens she'll be Chelsea Blue in no time. JK!

Couldn't help but let out a satisfied evil chuckle when I read this on the BBC's Man City - Liverpool preview:

Who were the one team to beat City at the Etihad and prevented Liverpool from scoring in that one of out twenty-nine league games?

Was it the team that finished 3rd perchance?

Chelsea are a very strong side who can quite possibly turn us over in which there would be no shame. But at home we are more than capable of beating anybody. Citys spine of Hart, Kompany, Yaya, Silva, Aguero only managed 5 starts together last season without one or more of them being injured... We averaged 5-0 a game in those matches, we still won the league without that spine in tact. Just goes to show the depth we had the... We're even stronger now. Keep those 5 fit and no other side has anything close to that kind of strength. The media have been all over Chelsea declaring them favourites because they have finally bought a striker (Options aren't so great if he gets an injury or goes off the boil, but let's overlook that one shall we   ) where as City have just quietly got on with their business, strengthening in key positions with quality players.

We've gone under the radar which is amusing and pleasing in equal measure. Liverpool blustered for 30 mins last night without really doing anything, then we pulled them apart without ever getting out of 2nd gear. We haven't even warmed up yet, by the time we meet Chelsea at the Etihad in a couple of games time, the machine will be just about ready to roar!

It will be an interesting game. The most interesting thing for me will be seeing how different our game plan is now that we have Fabregas in the team. I'm assuming we'd probably drop Oscar for Ramires and play a conservative midfield 3, but I wonder whether we'll be interested in getting much possession, or just slamming it on the counter attack.

Matic v Toure round 2 will be fascinating too, hopefully Toure can at least put up a fight this time

Without whose help would have had liverpool win the league because your own team nearly screwed it up there -.-
