I've said it many times, Aguero is the best player in the league, I said that even last season and the season before when there was the likes of Bale and Suarez having the seasons of there lives.

I just hope Aguero doesn't have his, he's the only massive threat for City I believe that can make a huge difference, maybe I am stupid in not including Toure but I can see him going downhill, I could be wrong though.

While i'll take the compliment as a City fan, It's so tough to have a who is the best player in the league debate, Does the best player have to score goals? or can he get away with assists? or can he rely solely on his influence on the team? If the best player has to score lots of goals, Diego Costa/RVP are easily in the frame, If it's assists, Hazard/Fabregas and Silva are easily in the frame, If it's what they mean to the side, The best player you could argue is a toss up between Toure and John Terry, Would Chelsea's defense be as solid without him? Would City's midfield be as tough to play against without Toure? It's a great debate but i'm not sure what the criteria is.

That is why in my opinion, Suarez was the best player last year, He brought goals, assists and handed Liverpool a huge psychological boost when he was playing, You could see last night, With Sturridge up front on his own, Whilst he is good, It's so much more easier to defend against them, Just put your best defender on him and smother him.

The main thing with City is the strength in depth, to have players like Jovetic, Dzeko, and  Negrado to look to when Aguero is injured or needs a rest is just plain greedy, we need to hope Costa can stay injury free and pl;ay a lot of games, I think he brings the other players into the game well when he holds the ball up and gets involved a lot better than Torres so even a dry spell from him should mean we have more threat than last season and we should cope with goals chipping in from the midfield,

.

The worry for me is an injury to him would mean Drogs rolling back the years and punishing himself with back to back games or the more worrying prospect of our third choice striker attempting to lead the line, without slating him for no reason as it's been done many times, in my opinion if he has any future where a decent contribution here is likely to occur, it's playing wide of the main striker and I think that's where he'll get his chances if Costa can stay injury free.

I think it's going to be another tight season at the top and it's already looking interesting, I won't confidently predict a turnaround of the top two from last year unless we add another striker but it's too early to judge really, I've got a feeling January could see us panic buying if we don't do it quickly though.

All good points. I have though said it once and will say it again, our biggest mistake in the transfer market was failing to push through the purchase of Aguero when we were widely tipped to acquire him. He playing off Drogba in his pomp would have been the best striking partnership in Europe at the time.

In my last post when talking about the possibility of a turnaround in the top two, I obviously meant top two on ability and not on final table position...to be honest I forgot all about the scousers

Drogba isn't capable of doing it week in week out anymore, if Costa isnt at it or missing we are in big trouble.

Torres is terrible and Drogba is a shadow of the former world class striker.

JT did slip but we laid that ghost to rest in Munich. Liverpool have failed several times in the league when they've come close to winning it but they still don't have that Premier League title, we have that European Cup in our cabinet.

Yes..but liverpool have won it five times......oh sh*t...i think i`m coming down with mickyquinnittis :greysweat:

He will now tell you he has been a life long fan and lives minutes from the ground. But i never saw him lurking around here when keegan was manager or pearce or Errikosn or Hughes

For your information we didn't even have the internet in our hose back in those days. Miles Platting Manchester, Working Class, City fan for 30 years and proud of it. I've told you quite literally for years that this is the "Rivals" section of the forum, yet you never seem to be able to grasp the concept.

It's where we as Chelsea fans can discuss our rivals. It doesn't mean any rival can come in here and give it the Billy big bollocks and expect not to get people riled up.

Well said

That's fair enough, but i think some of you seriously underestimate what City are trying to achieve and resort to vitriol and snide at the drop of the hat (no names, we know who they are, usual suspects). It seems some of you don't recognise just how strong our squad is. I'd be comfortable playing either of our starting 11's and we would be fighting for the top honours. Don't mistake arrogance with supreme confidence in not only the squad, but everything that's happening at City behind the scenes that rivals perhaps don't notice or pay heed to?

Arrogance is to say we are gonna walk the league and nobody can touch us, but that's far from what myself or any City fan i know thinks. I think any out of the top 4 can realistically win the league and if things go against us, we could finish 3rd, 4th? who knows. But i was commenting on what i've heard all summer, IE Chelsea are favourites because you have bought a striker. I don't believe there are favourites in this league. It's so tight, how can there be? How can anybody conclude that one side has a better chance than another over 38 games when there are so many variables to take into account?

I was also commenting on what i saw last night. For 30 mins Liverpool controlled the ball but to be honest, didn't do much with it. We absorbed what little they threw at us and broke them down through a combination of skill and error. In the second half we dominated them without breaking a sweat. All i was pointing out is we haven't really gotten a chance to see Citys best 11 play together very often, and when they do, it's resulted in a mauling for the opposition. Excuse me for feeling confident, i thought this was a decent forum where i could post my views without the snarky comments? Unfortunately this place has taken a dip in the last few months with some very highly strung individuals posting all kinds of bile (usually targeted at each other)

I just think it's in terms of abillity, Aguero for me is  capable of anything but he has been really unlucky with injuries. I think he would do better in a side where he is the key man though rather than having to compete.

I was gutted when City signed him because we where chasing him for 2 years before hand, not to mention we had f**king Torres instead. Oh and who can forget his debut against Swansea, that was probably his best season then but I still don't think we've seen the best of him as much as it pains me to say it.

Though I will admit I kind of got carried away, probably all the coke I'm drinking today. I guess it's hard to say, without being extremely bias I think Hazard has a good shout because he's one of those players you just can't stop but if Aguero shows that he's the player I think he is this season then I would say he's the best.

The vast majority of us know how strong City are. They wouldn't have won the league last year if they weren't, and you have probably a stronger squad than us. Just because we don't constantly say it doesn't mean we don't "recognise" it. We just are not in the business of constantly arse licking the abilities of one of our title rivals. So if that's what you are looking for out of this forum, you're going to be disappointed.

Citeh might have a strong team. We all know about it. Nonetheless, when Jose comes in with his stallions, then we will see them crumble. Just a friendly reminder of that memorable Monday.

Yes but you also go mad if someone says a word against City or even if we say that you lack a certain mentality you wont have it.

Excuse you for feeling confident? Are you joking, it's just pure arrogance, and at times it's actually pretty dumb what you're saying and I hate having to insult peoples posts like that but you go on as if City are the best side that ever existed. Also your post in the Frank Lampard thread was ridiculous, you need to think about how others will react to the things you say.

You say this like we should care.

You're on a Chelsea forum. The majority of us don't care about yours or any other team because we only care about Chelsea.

If your going to cry that people on Chelsea forum don't like or care about what you a City fan has to say then you only have yourself to blame for being here in the first place.

Barcelona were in for him also weren't they? That was until Guardiola decided to go for Sanchez at Udinese Lol

lol wenger can't complain about teams spending fergy hardly spent more then what he did

Bit unfair as Wenger has had 2 more transfer windows. If you stop the list in 2013 when Ferguson retired then you'd have to take away the expensive signings of Ozil, Sanchez, Chambers and Debuchy for around £100m.

Yeah but you could also say Wenger had another season ahead of him and yet still didn't win anywhere near as much as Fergie.

Only one on that list hasnt won a league title during the 10 years too....All that money for one FA cup. Oh and of course all those 4th place trophies.
