March 29, 201610 yr Author Thank you, IndianaBlue85! But you show me just the meaning of others. I don't know these people. I except their visions, but ... I just want to see any proof. That means, I want to see a video. A video with really his awful comments. (In this case and on this thread, Courtois) Otherwise it's just sensational press or trolling.
March 29, 201610 yr Author Totally agree Mayos. If someone will pay that much then I hope the club sell right away. Of course.
March 29, 201610 yr Author It seems were really trying to balance the books. Good idea. There are other more important problems, don't you think?
March 29, 201610 yr Ffs Krc-fan! Can't you just recognise that Belgians are not perfect and some times they open their mouth and sh*t comes out of it? Or are you all perfect and none of you ever say a wrong thing? It's this nationalistic sh*t I can't stand, the defence of some stupid words from a player just because of his nationality. And don't come asking for proof, others have given you plenty of them, you just can't see beyond your nationality to accept them. And no, I wouldn't sell Courtois, I think he is a good keeper that has had a poor season. I would put some competition in the squad playing Begovic, yes, but would not sell Courtois. I'd hope seating on the bench amongst the subs and "youngsters" would make him get back to form soon (and also would be a humbling experience).
March 29, 201610 yr Author Ffs Krc-fan! Can't you just recognise that Belgians are not perfect . Yes, Motörhead! We have big problems, right now. Bigger then football problems. You can't imagine.
March 29, 201610 yr Author they open their mouth and sh*t comes out of it? Yes! Like the rest of the world!
March 29, 201610 yr Author Or are you all perfect and none of you ever say a wrong thing? No! And yes! Just like you and me. And others. We make mistakes a say wrong things. That's why I want to see it, before I'll make a judgement.
March 29, 201610 yr Author It's this nationalistic sh*t I can't stand, the defence of some stupid words from a player just because of his nationality. Why do you think it's all about nationalistic sh*t? Which stupid words have you heard from a player just because of his nationality?
March 29, 201610 yr Author you just can't see beyond your nationality to accept them. That's interesting. Can you explain that to me. Accept what? His performance? Is not good. Clear! Must be much better. Has make some awful mistakes the last weeks. His interview. Was a very good one. Didn't say anything wrong. Wat is the problem with you guys? Don't heard from a clubproblem. Don't have heard Guus or other team mates. Don't see anything in the Belgian or other international press. So, ... Don't have a problem when it's something personal, Motörhead. But don't ask me to accept, rumours, sensational press or trolling nonsence Edited March 29, 201610 yr by Krc-fan
March 29, 201610 yr Author And no, I wouldn't sell Courtois, I think he is a good keeper that has had a poor season. Correct. I hope Chelsea still wants him. And win some more prices. But I will not cry if he leaves. Edited March 29, 201610 yr by Krc-fan
March 29, 201610 yr Author I'd hope seating on the bench amongst the subs and "youngsters" would make him get back to form soon (and also would be a humbling experience). I respect your vision.
March 29, 201610 yr Why do you think it's all about nationalistic sh*t? Which stupid words have you heard from a player just because of his nationality? Because you defend the impossible only when Belgian players are concerned. You've misunderstood me there, I didn't say Belgians say stupid words (I, for one, don't think stupidity is exclusive of a particular nation, we all say stupid things all the time!), I meant that you defend their interviews and words 'just' because the players that say them are Belgian. I haven't seen you defend Costa or Oscar or William or Azpi or ... PS - don't get me wrong, I haven't got anything against you or your country, as I don't have anything against any nationality. It just strikes me that at a Chelsea's fan forum I get to see someone defending the indefensible just from players of a particular nationality. Please, feel free to defend Costa with the same vehemence!
March 29, 201610 yr Author Don't get you wrong, Motörhead. On the contrary. I accept your vision. This is indeed a forum! And a good one! You haven't seen defend me Costa or others, because I don't have the time. I can't read anything. And it's not my busniss. I'm just a guest. Thank you for you invitation, but I can't do that. But you are always welcome on my thread or the musical connection thread! Uhm? Let me see. No. I don't want defend any Belgian player. If it's not good, I will not discuss about it. Even not for Eden or Lukaku or others. Nationality is not my concern. I just follow the two Genk youngsters. Thibaut and Kevin. That's all. And they haven't tell nothing stupid so far. Certainly not about Chelsea. Or I have missed it and then I will made my apologies. No problem with that. That's why I always ask a source, Motörhead. Let me see it if they have made some mistakes. Otherwise we can go on and hope for more succes. Edited March 29, 201610 yr by Krc-fan
March 29, 201610 yr "Lost in translation" is always possible when it comes to football players, even the English ones :) Bottom line, if Chelsea decide to sell Courtois, then off he goes ... I think all professional sportsmen accept that this can happen, even with Bosman and the growth of "player" power. Different sport, but there is a very good scene in the movie Moneyball that showcases this "player as expendable asset" principle. A few other points occur to me here. 1. How much "club loyalty" can we reasonably expect when the club policy is to ship young players out on loan to other clubs for years on end ? How does that help them to develop real passion for CFC ? 2. If young players do prove themselves on loan (Lukaku), but don't get a chance in our first team, then you can't really blame them for voicing concerns and/or buggering off to another team. 3. If players are mis-managed by the manager, again is it really surprise if they consider their options elsewhere ? (DeBruyne, Lukaku) 4. If players have personal reasons to engineer an overseas move, again understandable, albeit disappointing (Hazard's wife wants Paris vs London, Courtois partner is Spanish etc etc). Same thing happened with Crespo. Re point 4., perhaps we need an English spine again ... Pochettino seems to have managed to develop English talent at both clubs he has managed in the PL, so it is definitely possible. We have several promising home-grown youth players ... hopefuly Conte, or whoever is coming in, will see this and give them all a chance. Young English lads that have been at CFC since age 8 or whatever, are far more likely to bleed blue ...
March 29, 201610 yr I can't seem to figure out whether Tebo is poor because he himself has been pretty poor or just the defence in front of him and the DM has been a shambles or whether its a combination of both. But either way, not his best season and more like one of his worst
March 29, 201610 yr Krc-fan, you are most in a position to explain how Thibaut has been unfairly portrayed and translated by the English media. Yet instead of doing that, you've written a bunch of empty nonsense posts. In that time, you could have written a clear explanation and translation. If your goal is to defend your countrymen, you sure aren't doing a good job at it. It's ironic that I don't speak French fluently, and I only speak a tiny amount of Dutch due to a past long term relationship with someone from the Netherlands, yet I have taken the time to ask a Flemish Belgian for clarification, while you've only made unfilled promises. Page 24, post #478 Okay this is important. I found the original interview in French. As a disclaimer, I am not a fluent French speaker and do not know about differences between French in Belgium versus mainstream French in France. When asked about the manager switch, Thibaut said, <<On avait sans doute besoin d'un changement à ce moment-là.>> ("A change was sans doute needed at that moment.") sans = without; doute = doubt Literally translated, sans doute means "without a doubt". In classic formal French such as you'd find in historical French literature, that would be an accurate translation. Curiously, sans doute NEVER means that in colloquial modern day French. It never expresses that degree of certainty. Among the older generation, a close translation would be "most likely but not definitely". Among the younger generation, it expresses even less certainty. A close translation would be "more likely than not". So Thibaut actually said, "A change was needed, more likely than not, at that moment." He did NOT say, "A change was, without a doubt, needed at that moment." Could the fluent French speakers on this board, especially those familiar with French in Belgium, confirm or disconfirm my understanding of sans doute? Page 26, post #509 He was asked whether the training is higher at Chelsea versus the Belgian national team. He said the national team because with the national team you get the best Belgians at each position. Every player is strong. With Chelsea you have slightly weaker players in addition to strong players. Also the national team doesn't train with the youth national teams so that's another reason the training is higher with the national team.So a bit untactful and rude toward clubmates but not as bad as The Guardian implies. He sounds like he's been trying, maybe too hard, to ingratiate himself with the national team. He's had conflicts there in the past and might be trying to mend those. And like I said in an earlier post, Dutch culture is way less diplomatic and tactful than we're used to; Guus is an outlier. That may spill over to the Dutch part of Belgium. March 29, 201610 yr Author to explain how Thibaut has been unfairly portrayed Especially from forum members on this thread.
March 29, 201610 yr Author translated by the English media. Not translated. Just a strange version. Don't know why? Probaly they are not Chelsea lovers, I guess.
March 29, 201610 yr Link The Mail say we've got Milan's 17yr old keeper lined up to replace THibo should he want out This is along the line of thinking I had when I suggested taking the money. 70m can buy you a few young GKs and I for one am comfortable with Begovic for a year or two while the young guys build up some experience. This kid from Milan already has a lot of experience with the first team for someone who is only going on 18. Take a look at him, he's big too. 6'5" and from the looks of it he's got some mass to him Edited March 29, 201610 yr by TheChelseaBlues
March 29, 201610 yr Author you've written a bunch of empty nonsense posts. Well, thank you, Offside. I'm doing my best. My english is not good. Indeed. But my intentions are good.
March 29, 201610 yr Author Yet instead of doing that, you've written a bunch of empty nonsense posts. Don't think that. I gave a reaction. I'm satisfied.
