I think we'd do better as 100% of attacks that break down with Willian would probably end with fabregas or hazard actually doing something rather than running around like a lost sprinter

If you’re a new member then someone trying to be clever/humerous by posting opinions in a sarcastic/opposite manner every time will always cause confusion. Then the thread gets turned into a circus and it ruins any sensible conversation.

No, Hazard can slip back into defence alongside JT, convert him into a commanding centre back. Everyone wins.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Willian being used through the middle sometimes too now, rotating with Oscar/Fabregas. Hazard/Willian or Oscar/new guy, all changing position around the front feeding Costa. Lovely.

Willian a terrible player?  I don't think so, which teams in the premier league would he not start in?  

 

I'm happy we got rid of schurrle rather than Willian don't really get the hatred the lad gets, but I agree we could do with an improvement in an attacking sense down the right side.  Don't know much about Cuadrado but from what I saw in the WC he looked to have plenty of energy and pace along with a good cross.

Hazard's pace would definitely help in covering for JT. I like the idea. Can't see Jose being too far behind in seeing this.

Yes we're top, yes we're in a cup final and yes Jose is a serial winner, but I just can't understand why he keeps playing players that are obviously terrible

If you read a sentence like this and take it at face value I have no sympathy for you whatsoever.

It isn't pointless sarcasm, it is a rhetorical device. The point being that implicit within the question is the qualifying answer: Willian has been "persisted with" as I ludicrously say, because of his overall contribution to the team.

That's the inferred judgment of someone highly qualified to make that call (mourinho).

Yes. When you see him trying to take on a full back, I think its painfully obvious that he's not a winger. His playmaking abilities are much better than his crossing, dribbling or shooting, so I think the central role naturally suits him much better.

The trouble with that theory are his stats, very poor assist stats in numpty leagues, which suggests he hasn't got the final ball to be anything other than a filler in the number ten spot.

On the wing he can utilise some of his main assets. Running, stamina, energy, workrate. He has other qualities too of course, he's a good player but he lacks the ability to roast a defender, assist or score. He doesn't have a cutting edge, as we've become aware.

I think his best position might be midfield, but Jose doesn't really play a box-to-box midfielder in a 4231, hence Ramires finds himself a bit surplus.

Willian is technical, he has vision, and he's tenacious. I think he's a midfielder in the making.

I believe Willian has had plenty of good performances for us and when he's not on form he still gives his all for the team so I don't understand why people hate on him.  For me anyway I find that Schurrle is mostly anonymous when he starts games and I sometimes don't realise hes playing until he would have some outrageous shot.  He defiantly has an eye for goal but doesn't contribute enough in general play for me and his dribbling consisted of running straight at the opposition and hoping for a lucky deflection.

 

For some reason I've got a good feeling about this Cuadrado guy I think he's going to be a boss down the wing.  Heres hoping for another successful transfer window.

Salah & Shirley have been consistently pants, they have not progressed in TSO academy, they expose the teams' right side to attack and haven't weighed in with more then 2 or 3 goals or assists

 

makes me laugh when Willian is completely slated by some obviously knowledgeable types, very few players in the world are consistently brilliant week in week out, and they command huge fees for a good reason

 

Willian just got CFC to Wembley with his free kick to Ivan's bonce, he runs his socks off every game, might not be as technically gifted and can be frustrating but he gives 150% for the team and for that imo is why Jose picks him a lot, if JC works out well Willian is still a useful squad player
