Disappointed if Schurrle leaves but it looks likely. Cuadrado can rotate with Willian and whoever deserves the spot will get it. Hopefully it'll be less of a "Schurrle is doing crap so Willian gets the spot" situation, but more of a playing on merit situation.

There was some talk of homesickness last season. Could definitely be the reason it hasn't worked. Genuinely disappointed if he goes as he always seemed very proud to be playing for chelsea, but if he isnt right mentally, he would never forfill his potential.

Met Schürrle in winter wonderland after the WBA game and while his friends and girlfriend were all smiles, he he looked in a real foul mood. Wasnt talking, constantly looked down and seemed like he was very upset. I think the fact that hes not a first team selection bothers him a lot more then hes letting on and I think hes sick and tired of being on the bench

Yup. Plus he seemed to genuinely love the club. On a pragmatic level, I understand it. It wasn't been working out and this might be the best deal for both Chelsea as well as him. On an emotional level, it's difficult to accept, because he's a likeable guy who worked hard and tried his best despite not always delivering, and there's still this glimmer of hope that he'll figure it all out and fulfill the potential some of us think he has. He's just a really easy player to root for and that, more than his talent or potential, is what make this difficult for me. But a football club cannot, and should not (except in rare cases), deal in sentimentality.

 

I also think this would be easier to acccept if we were going to replace him with an exciting talent like Reus, someone who most of us would agree is a better player, rather than Cuadrado, who most of us aren't completely sold on.

It's coming.

 

Imagine if he starts against Manchester City? That'd be insane, so insane it might just work.

What a sh*t pointless transfer this is, what's the point in having two willians? Should of given schurrle more time work with him and reevaluate at the end of the season when dourtmond were reportedly waiting til.

He isn't world class and isn't better than we have so what's the point? If reus is already committed to somewhere else then I can maybe understand this transfer but if not why have we not thrown everything we have and risked waiting till summer to get him? If reus is going somewhere else I only seeing it being Madrid and if so someone's going to be leaving and I'd take any of the unwanted players from there, including isco. Really disappointed by this transfer to me shows me where we're at in terms of buying big names and world class talent. He might be ok might be decent but he won't be reus

Veeira from what I've heard of him he certainly doesn't seem like another Willian to me.

 

I think Willian is going to get more game time regardless but Cuadrado seems to add more variety in attack, it will be good to bring this guy on later in the game even play him in certain games, that right side is really blunt at times.

 

As for Schurrle I think 95% of the forum wants him to stay but I think it's clear he isn't happy here and he hasn't been for some time.

Would love it for him to play against City, but thats highly unlikely :'(

I think he beats Willian when it comes to pace and dribbling, he will most likely have more succsess in one vs one situations. Hopefully he also has some vision, because without it he wouldn't be much better then Salah or Shurrle.

I think you're being a bit negative here mate. We need a right winger not a left winger forced to play on the right. That is what Schürrle is and what reus would be. This guy was class in the world cup and has a good record for fiorentina. I think you will be surprised by him. He will be an improvement on Willian and a solid starter. Willian will become a versatile squad player now, much like Ramires.

He's new to us and for entertainment's sake new is good. Half the reason we want the youth team to come through is to see how a fresh face does.

Losing mata was a much bigger blow than losing Schurle.

If a player (Reus) doesn't want to come to us, there's nothing we can do.

Very disappointed, not going to lie.

Sky have been slower than everyone on this story, makes me laugh when they then give it the big un that they're telling us something we don't know...they were shown up today when a lot of papers said Cuadrado in Schurrle and Salah out and they were busy denying it

Cuadrado is much better than Willian. The little Brazilian doesn't have dribbling, finishing and passing... why are we comparing them? Willian = energy. Cuadrado = shooting, dribbling, passing the opponents and maybe some assists + energy.
