Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea .... Done!

Featured Replies

Hopefully is more direct than Willian. I get so sick of Willian getting the ball out wide and than just literally stopping and standing there with it for 4 or 5 seconds, waiting for their whole team to get back and defend.

So Schurrle is off to Wolfsburg and some journos reporting that Salah is off to Fiorentina on loan.

If that's true it'll leave us very short should an injury or two occur.

What a sh*t pointless transfer this is, what's the point in having two willians? Should of given schurrle more time work with him and reevaluate at the end of the season when dourtmond were reportedly waiting til.

He isn't world class and isn't better than we have so what's the point? If reus is already committed to somewhere else then I can maybe understand this transfer but if not why have we not thrown everything we have and risked waiting till summer to get him? If reus is going somewhere else I only seeing it being Madrid and if so someone's going to be leaving and I'd take any of the unwanted players from there, including isco. Really disappointed by this transfer to me shows me where we're at in terms of buying big names and world class talent. He might be ok might be decent but he won't be reus

Id take the lottery numbers while your at it. Thanks

I'm not meaning to be overly negative and I will certainty give him a completly fair view with my full support as I do/would do for any player, I'm just saying from what I've seen he's not a player we need doesn't seem different enough from Willian. Willian is underrated in my opinon and if we're not replacing his place in the first team him with top draw talent there's not much point replacing him at all. Willian/Cuadrado might be better than Willian/Schurrle but I'm just saying I think the latter would of still won us the league and the former might stop us from buying a really special player.

He isn't going to replace Willian, but he is definitely going to rotate with Willian that's for sure.

Salah was never even in consideration for Mourinho and Schurrle was under performing when he came on.

Fabregas?

Costa?

Matic?

If that's not signing world class talent I don't know what is?

As for Reus, sick of hearing about him, we're not going to sign him this month coming off the back of a serious injury and I'm fairly sure his release clause is dropping significantly in the summer so even if the club were interested why pay double what they would need to in the summer, if he were to want to play for Chelsea at all that is.

There was a time I remember the idea of signing an international winger would be met with excitement, now its not good enough because said player isn't in the FIFA Ultimate Team, team of the week gold pack or rated worse on football manager or some sh*t.

End of the day we are looking to offload two out of form wingers not playing good enough to challenge for a place in the team and bringing in an in form winger to challenge for a starting place and help us with our push for domestic and European honours.

Just the fact that he's a right winger makes him completely different from Willian or any other player in our squad currently.

The thing is, one thing that would greatly enhance this side is an amazing right-winger, so I can see where people are coming from.

Just like an amazing striker, holding player and creative midfielder have greatly enhanced our side.

Having said that, we mustn't be greedy, we have to be realistic, and I'm glad he's coming.

If he's good enough for Jose he's good enough for me.

I don't like the whole Willian is underated thing, I think he's overrated. I love the guy and he gives his best, but despite being quite a decent player he doesn't give us enough. I have said this a lot on this forum. After the semi final 1st leg at Anfield I said he was horrible, because every touch either went up in the air or went backwards. However, a fellow member replied asking me whether I had actually watched the game because his workrate and tracking back was fantastic and he deserves respect for that. That's great and I love to see it, but he gives us little to nothing going forward. I actually thought he was pretty good on Tuesday, but this season has been poor.

We are top of the league, yet we have the lowest amount of crosses attempted in the ENTIRE LEAGUE, staggering. I honestly think that we would be at the moment a few more points clear of City and Costa would be at least on 20 plus goals if decent crosses were coming in. When we have Willian out there, it's like we are playing with no right wing. The left back going up against him is guaranteed to have one of his better games in the season, because no longer does Willian knock it past him with pace or put a decent cross in, he merely stands there, circles his foot over the ball a few times, then sprints inside and passes it to Ivanovic.

I was a big fan last year, however he has been way below what is needed, which is why we need to sign Cuadrado. Schurrle will be leaving so it won't be too much of our own money, and it'll be a good bit of business.

We've made the fewest crosses in the league by design- it's obviously totally intentional.

We create primarily by passing through the middle. It's how you get the best from players like hazard, fabregas, Willian and Oscar.

I think the change is style hurt schurrle as he isn't great technically playing on and two touch football and interchanging with other midfield players.

That bring said, obviously a pure winger would be a good addition as it gives us an extra option.

Think it is a done deal, schurrle will leave and Cuadrado will replace him. Don't mind it at all. Basically cancel each other out with the transfer fee.

People saying rues if the rumours are true Madrid also want him. Back from injury and from what i read somewhere his release clause kicks in during the summer. If it's a choice between Us and Madrid he will pick Madrid.

Cuadrado is a good signing, has plenty of stamina and is a RW. Would have been nice to have him on the bench for saturday but looks like that won't be happening.

This 100%  People on this board have an unhealthy obsession with Willian's "workrate".  A donkey has a good workrate, but would you want him starting at RW for a team who is leading the EPL and is vying for a Treble?  No?.  Willian has an absolutely awful first touch, he has no other moves other than multiple stepovers, and his final ball is so bad that it makes Salah look like Messi.

Cuadrado is a better attacking winger than Willian will ever be and I am glad that it looks like this deal is done.  Schurrle had plenty of opportunities in the past 2 years to prove his worth, and he only did so about 30% of the time, which is far less than what Jose expects.  Sell Salah and Schurrle now, buy Cuadrado now and look at bringing in Draxler in the summer and I guarantee all of you "Willian" or "Schurrle" lovers won't be bitching next season.

You moan about people overrating Willian, and then proceed to underrate him to the same extent, as if that is going to help matters. An 'absolutely awful first touch', really? How would you describe Ramires' first touch then?

If he comes, and all indications are that he will he will be a useful addition to the squad.Good luck to Andre in the future,he seems a good person, hope it works out for him in Germany.Unfortunately in Salahs case the best games i have seen him have were against Chelsea for Basle. It might be that the pressure at a big club has proved too much for him.As for Willian i think he is an excellent player(superb against the dippers)and so does Morinho. All in all it will prove to be good business in this window ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!

I'm not sure about him. Anyone has his actual goals+assists stats?

We need a guy who is either giving the final assist or scores the goal just like Hazard is doing. Willian is doing it way too little, Schurrle has excellent scoring ratio but he can't hold the ball like Willian does. Salah is a flop. It is 50/50.

He was one of the reason James Rodriquez was the top scorer in the WC and he looked very good there.

My knowledge of him ends there.

From season 12/13 onwards:

All competitions- 106 app, 26 goals, 21 assists

League alone- 85 app, 20 goals, 18 assists

All competitions- 66 app, 21 goals, 14 assists

Over 50% of his games he contributes to a goal. That's very good, especially when you compare it to willians 1 goal 1 assist from 21 league games this yr.
