What about the law? It's not you suing, it's criminal law kicking in. No reason to jest when you're saying someone like Johnson is disgusting.

I know where zola is coming from. It's a mentality that is common place in society but it needs to change to get fairness across the board in these cases.

There's also stigma's attached to domestic violence where gender can play a part in how each case is treated.

How right you are! Women can be sexual predators too - as well as violent.

There does seem to be a worrying lack of consistency in the way the law enforced, but all this bleating about sexism sounds silly to me. Just look up/google Andrew Picard, for example; I've no idea how this son of a top lawyer and ex-Etonian escaped jail.

 

And then there's all the (male) nonces in Westminster going back decades, how many of them will face justice?

 

It does seem to me like Adam Johnson is a disappointingly rare example of somebody being punished properly for sexual crimes.

I'm not sure anybody was "bleating" about sexism: people were pointing out, as you do, that there is no consistency in punishment, and that, perhaps due to double standards, some women escape with lighter sentences than some men. As Zola said, all we ask of the courts and of society is consistency. No bleating anywhere :-)

It's not bleating about sexism with no reason though is it.

When you put together the sentences males get for sexual crimes against children to that of females it's staggering.

Sexism on these crimes is out of control, it's there in black and white.

My post was about the bleating bit, not the sexism bit :-)

I think we can all agree that Johnson got what he deserved and that a man or a woman in the same case with the same circumstances should also get the same jail time. Its not about sexism or any of that nonsense, its about a consistent justice system.
