Retain the PL or win the CL, which would you rather?

As it is for me at the start of every season, get enough points to make sure we don't get relegated, and then see what happens after that.

Lol,

I know old habits die hard, but I'm the same (and I've never seen us relegated).  Always that "reach 40 points, and then see what's happening."

Of course, with the squad competing on all fronts and developing into a powerful team within Europe, I think my aspirations have grown slightly, but that 40 points still lingers in the back of my head.

This next season, I'd love a Premiership and FA Cup.

League.  Always is, always will be.

Whilst the Champions League win was phenomenal - we were nowhere near the top team in Europe, and had a huge amount of planets aligning during that run.

This year in the league, we have ground the opposition into the ground, and pissed everyone off with our multiple styles of play and our mental strength.

Edit: plus I hate it when we play without those golden Premier League badges on the arm after wearing it for a year.

It would be interesting to know how this is split, with regard to where the poster lives?

I would imagine most who live in England would choose the league over the Champions league. Mainly because of the rivalry between supporters.

Whereas, I'd expect posters residing abroad may favour the Champions league, as they see football more globally?

in almost all circumstances it would be to win the premier league... but for Mourinho to win the Champs League with us would complete the set and put him in a group of one (i think) having won it with 3 clubs. it would just be absolute perfection, so id love for it to happen

This. Its the league very time for me. But if the special one wins the cl with us, its going to be real special.

Prem for me will always be no.1 priority showing over a long season you are the best and bragging rights of course. Champions League is obviously special and would be incredible to win it again but we are doing things properly with FFP whilst teams like Barca will spend 300m kind of kills it to be honest.

If it has to be just one, then the PL every time, it is our bread & butter, also with out winning the league we would find it

harder to win the CL anyway with the new seeding system that will be put into place for next seasons CL.

It would be nice to win both though it would mean not bothering about the FA & League cup competitions which

would IMO be a shame as I like visiting Wembley now & again.

I've got admit not winning the Premier League for five years really really hurt, going out of the CL hasn't really bothered me this season if I'm honest.

I agree, it helped us in the league as well with the players getting more rest.

I didn't think this way 'before' we won the Champions League though. That, we needed, especially after the Barca injustice and Moscow. Would be nice to win one every few years though, but Premier League always priority one, it keeps the Scousers quiter :)

I'm exactly the same, the CL really was the holy grail but now we've won it I'm a lot calmer about it

A while back I read that the board wanted to win the CL again within 5 years of 2012; so only a couple of seasons left if that target is to be achieved. I'd like us to have a serious tilt at the CL just to prove that 2012 wasn't a fluke and that we have the ambition to be at the top of european football for many years to come.

This year i would have taken the league before CL any day, but next season if given the choice between the PL and CL i'd take the latter. We need a champions league title with Jose.

how about CL next season and then the PL again after that with some more domestic cups shove in between?

it's going to be difficult as it is to win the PL title back to back

I'm a lot calmer about it and winning the Premier League this year was very important considering our drought but this team has bigger ambitions. Winning the CL was a far greater. If I had to pick I would want to win the CL again myself. This team is destined for higher things though and a double between the two is most like what is needed to cement our legacy in the pantheon.

We have to be realistic here, Barcelona with Suarez, Messi and Neymar along with Real Madrid, Bayern and possibly PSG if you consider the two games they played against us last season, look  too good for us at the moment.

The Premiership is another story, Manchester City are an ageing outfit, Man Utd continue to re-build, Liverpool had there chance last season and flatter to deceive, in fact Arsenal are our only danger as a couple of signings in the right department will see them title possibilities.

I was at a recent soccer school and came across Glen Hoddle, he talked at length about Chelsea and Europe.and felt in the same way as me, we need a Gareth Bale, he likes Pogba too, but I am not sure.

We need to think as a Club do we splash out on players now, players that will get in a Barcelona or a Real Madrid side, or do we wait for the likes of Ruben Loftus Cheek, Dominic Solanke, Tammy Abraham, Izzy Brown, Jay Dasilva  to form a core of our side like the 60's or the Man Utd side that dominated the 90's ?

I think on any given day, we could more then hold our own against, Bayarn, PSG or Real (Actually I fancy us to beat real handily, their style of play is taylor made for us.) Barca are on another level at the moment, doesn't mean that they will maintain it and their was a much bigger gap between the team we beat and us when we won the CL. That said... league every time!
