Chelsbear
I'd take him over Falcao for sure. Never thought I'd be saying that 2-3 years ago.
ForeverCarefree
Honestly can't see this happening. The Falcao rumours are gathering pace and I can't see us signing Falcao and Austin. I've said before that I could perhaps see Remy leaving but I don't think the club would sell him for a player like Austin. End of the day at 25 years old he's had one season in the top flight. He's far too inexperienced for my liking.
Blue Daze
Why? £20 million for someone who is good but not great. What role does he fill in the squad?
enigma
Just stunting solanke and bamford's growth with us. Majority of these English players will be one season wonders.
Bobbywoodhogan
I think he'd be a much better option that Falcao. Guys stats are really impressive considering the team he was in. We talk about stunting growth but that's bollocks. It's likely Remy won't even be here in a couple of seasons time and the youngsters really need experience playing in the Prem on loan. I don't think it will stunt them at all. If we couldn't win the CL last season with Costa, Remy and Drogba then we certainly won't if the third option is a youngster. A 25 year old striker on a 5 year contract seems like too long of a commitment when he's unlikely to ever be good enough for a top club. The Premier League is littered with Johnsons, Bents, Armstrongs and Ricketts.

RickUK
Bamford and Solanke won't be in the first team for a long time yet, we all know it.
Blue Daze
Bamford and Solanke won't be in the first team for a long time yet, we all know it. Don't think it's impossible that one of them makes it into the first team regularly next season. Austin is a decent goalscorer but are players like him and Vardy really what we should be looking at? Bobbywoodhogan
Bamford and Solanke won't be in the first team for a long time yet, we all know it.Exactly and tbh I don't see Bamford ever been a starter for us. I reckon he'll be sold in a couple of seasons time. Hope I'm wrong though.Austin would be a good signing he scores goals and he also assists. Having an option like him is only beneficial in the race to win trophies. There's also the fact he's homegrown that makes him an even better choice than Falcao. Droogba
I was once very keen on Austin, but his temperament, decking JT, changed my mind for me. Who knows...

Many said the same of Ballack and Costa. Also lets not forget that Torres and Terry had previous to. I don't think JT minds all that Infact I think he probably respects it. Drogba11CFC
He'll go to Southampton or Newcastle and that'll be the end of it.
Bobbywoodhogan
CHELSEA CHASE CHARLIE Chelsea have added £15million-rated QPR striker Charlie Austin to their summer target list, according to the London Evening Standard. The club, who are close to completing the signing of Radamel Falcao as a replacement for Didier Drogba, have earmarked Austin to replace another Blues striker Loic Remy. Austin scored 18 goals last season but couldn't stop QPR from being relegated from the Premier League.
Chelsbear
Would be a far better third choice than Falcao IMO. He's homegrown He's a proven EPL striker He scored 18 goals in a piss poor QPR side He's at an age where he can improve Wages will be fairly low Why pay a fortune on a loan for Falcao when next season we will again be looking at someone else for striking back up? ForeverCarefree
Honestly can't see Austin wanting to sign for us. Off the back of last season he could move to more than half of the Premier League clubs and expect first team football.
Zeta
We've had some sh*t #9's in recent years... Sutton, Sidwell, Boularouz, Torres...

He's at a point where he needs to play every week (England in mind).

GhostOfDembaPast
https://youtu.be/taNrq1r6Uw4 2nd goal is a cracker. (Strangely, 95% of his goals are one touch finishes. I don't think there's one there of the ball at his feet with him making a bit of space or running with the ball before scoring. Make of that what you will.) Blue Daze
We've had some sh*t #9's in recent years... Sutton, Sidwell, Boularouz, Torres... He needs to play week in an week out too or else he'll never reach his potential of being 'meh, pretty decent'. 18 league goals in a season is impressive and puts him up there with Darren Bent, Roque Santa Cruz, Benni McCarthy, Marcus Stewart and Michael Bridges. Funny you should mention Sutton by the way. Guess how many goals he got in the season before he joined us? Not saying he'd be a flop, but nothing suggests he's ever been nor would ever be good enough for us and you'd worry about flogging him down the line if that was the case. Then again why entertain it when you could have someone who costs 3 times the wage, scored 14 goals less and used to be good... I laughed too.
