August 5, 201510 yr Have we had 'he's not Chelsea quality' yet ? One of my faves that one. That's a genuine question from me. Not really watched enough of Austin to know. Is he?
August 5, 201510 yr That's a genuine question from me. Not really watched enough of Austin to know. Is he? Well he scores plenty of goals in the same league we play in so on that basis yes. I mean you think someone scoring a good amount in a side like QPR would score as many or more with world class players feeding him the ball.

Thing is Marcus Stewart once finished as the top scorer in the Premier League. Charlie Austin at 26 has only played one season in the top flight, never played in Europe. He's such an unknown quantity and it would be a huge step up for him to come and play for a side like Chelsea.

I find the risk factor thrilling, were I to bet I think he would do well with us. To me, he's a bit rough and ready, a raw talent. Your point is valid and only playing for us would show if he's up to it, or out of his depth. He may come our way.

With all due Respect Austin is a far better footballer than Marcus Stewart ever was, if you watched both of them you will probably know that though.Of course it’s a risk but He’s scored goals wherever he has been and has scored 155 goals since 2008 which tells me he’s a natural born finisher. A goal every other game with QPR is impressive given how poor the team he has been playing in is. Edited August 5, 201510 yr by Chelsbear

I guess he could do 'a Cahill', not really be world class but still do a good job. I know Cahill gets a lot of love but being objective here he isn't world class, although he is a good defender.

Cahill has grown on me, when he's on form he can do some amazing things, he is just a little inconsistent.

I'm terrified of crocks after Torres and the way Costa is struggling.

I think it was for a bit, think he failed a medical at Hull a few years ago because of it. Edited August 5, 201510 yr by Chelsbear

August 5, 201510 yr If he can link up play better than Remy i'd be all for signing Austin (though for a reported £15m think we'd be better off with Mandzukic tbh) Edited August 5, 201510 yr by the special one

August 5, 201510 yr He signed for athletico last season. Dont know where that came from. Why not sign Lewandowski while we're at it
August 5, 201510 yr He signed for athletico last season. Dont know where that came from. Why not sign Lewandowski while we're at it My bad - just saying if both Austin/Mandzukic were available for £15m (Austin's reported value) i'd go for Mandzukic. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-united-have-not-made-a-bid-for-qpr-striker-charlie-austin-confirms-steve-mcclaren-10440125.html
August 5, 201510 yr Mandzukic has gone to Juve, although obviously I still think we should sign him. I think i'll reserve my opinion about that for the Unholy Confessions thread... Edited August 5, 201510 yr by the special one
August 5, 201510 yr Author I do not get people's love for Mandzukic it reminds me of people's love for Balotelli
August 5, 201510 yr Balo would be a god if he didnt have a ten cent head, unplayable when he has it together
August 5, 201510 yr I do not get people's love for Mandzukic it reminds me of people's love for Balotelli As in you think neither is very good and its weird that people obsess over them? Because I dont think theres a mote different pair of strikers in the eorld of professional football

August 6, 201510 yr Author As in you think neither is very good and its weird that people obsess over them? Because I dont think theres a mote different pair of strikers in the eorld of professional football I'm not saying they play the same simply that neither is or has ever been all that really. They can both be good on their day but you can say that about anyone and that is the most overused saying in football.
August 6, 201510 yr I think the obsession with austin is even sadder. People wanna bring in austin and totally forget we have bamford on loan who may surprise many and hell, even traore cam play back up striker if needed. We really don't need another striker, especially a b level striker like austin. Edited August 6, 201510 yr by enigma

We really don't need another striker, especially a b level striker like austin. There isn't an obsession with Austin he's only been mentioned since last season. People want a goal scorer and right now our backups aren't good enough. Charlie Austin scores goals it makes sense to consider him. Also you talk about Bamford but next season we will likely need two strikers as I think Remy and Falcao won't be here.
