If you like watching people get shot in the head, limbs severed with machetes and bones broken, this is your show. It's got Joe Cole (not that one!) from Peaky Blinders in it. A power-struggle in the Big Smoke. Also watching Save me on Now TV. Dark, dark stuff, written by and starring Lennie James, who plays a man who is trying to find his abducted daughter. The Mandalorian on Disney+. Started off well but is meandering a bit now I've got to episode 4. Some filler guff and lack of plot. I've watched five episodes of GOL wow is it violent but almost cartoon like violence episode 5 is like watching a video game. Save Me is really good bleak but good.

Give it a chance! It all went a bit silly after the first season but even the second one holds up well. Don't bother with the rest... Episode 5 of GOL was incredible! My favourite bit was "All of this happens in the pilot episode. It's like they took a two-year-old to see The Shawshank Redemption, asked him to recount the plot three weeks later, wrote down everything he said, and filmed it." I loved the first series of Prison Break, except for the ending which was so obviously a set up for series 2. This is a disappointing phenomenon with modern-day TV, a very good story which should make a great series or a very good film gets stretched way beyond sense purely to cram in the cash. All the very best telly series knew exactly when to end, some of the very great telly had a wobble in the middle series and then came back even better, and most good or mediocre telly has one good series in it, but stretches it out till it becomes, well, like um, Prison Break series 2 onwards.
May 5, 20206 yr As I said in a previous post I've been rewatching The Sopranos. I'm always amused watching any tv show watching actors eating obviously the food is cold and probably sat there for hours so they just play with the food and the cutlery for ages and then put a single pea in their mouth. Same as drinking someone pours say a glass of wine and takes the tiniest sip possible. Not James Gandolfini man alive every other scene he's stuffing his face and he doesn't hold back he really puts it away. The fridge is like an incidental character it's in so many scenes where Tony heads straight for it usually grabbing fistfuls of cold meat. Eating as a family is a big part of Italian culture and all the other actors are playing with their food not Tony he's gulping it down. He gets through the cigars at a decent rate as well. I know James Gandolfini died of a heart attack but if he ate like that off screen as well it's not that surprising and I hope that doesn't come over as po-faced. Another thing about The Sopranos is it's no wonder they use guns and baseball bats etc because a bunch of middle aged overweight blokes would have their arses kicked in a fist fight.

The two young guys are just not convincing I know they are sort of doing a Godfather scenario where the son becomes even more ruthless than the father but these two are about as menacing as Graham Norton and Alan Carr.

Good point about Tony playing with his food which I always found annoying. His voice when he got angry used to get on my tits- reminds me of Daffy Duck Id imagine the producers got a bit concerned when Tony’s son stopped growing; you don’t often see 20 stone blokes with puny 10 stone sons. From an accuracy point of view, I don’t reckon many mob bosses would pick up a newspaper in an unguarded driveway same time every morning, or go anywhere without a bodyguard for fear of getting whacked. I am nitpicking- best TV series ever, with the possible exception of Runaround with Mike Reid Edited May 6, 20206 yr by Ewell CFC
May 6, 20206 yr A things lisps, with oldies it often happens when they lose teeth and don't get root canals or dental implants. Re them being good fighters when they have a Glock or Sig Sauer under their jacket they are not normally expecting to go three rounds. I also found it funny that Tony Soprano son was on the short side too though weird things happen, as my own cousin was 6'2 and neither parent was over 5'8. He was even bigger once yet that was when the milk companies allowed bovine growth hormone to get into milk in the South East and every teenager appeared to grow an inch or two until they removed it due to complaints and then the teens shrank again.

May 12, 20206 yr My Wife had never seen it, shes been crying with laughter at it all last week, just finished the first series so starting series 2 tonight.

It’s be weird and not the good kind of Jim weird. I watched a documentary last night called Last Breath. It’s about a diver who works on equipment on the bottom of The North Sea in oil rig equipment who gets ‘lost’ with only 5 minutes of reserve oxygen. It was really interesting, it kept me off my phone bothering you lot on here!

May 20, 20206 yr Watched Harry's Heroes tonight as up late. Wasn't expecting much yet enjoyed it, the banter between the ex-players was similar with what I remember with going to the chaps on the away days. A bit of culture with neat foreign scenery thrown in and flash backs to England matches and then they take on the teams we played back in the day. Tonight it was San Marino and we stormed to a 5-0 lead and then they stormed back with 3 goals as our guys were shattered. Next up is Germany and a trailer shot and the Germans look in much better shape....................

The way he behaved after Paul Merson rightly had a go at him was the antics of a petulant child the classic case of he can give stick out but can't take it himself. And ex footballers do the after dinner circuit he does the reality tv one he's been on everything (not that I watch them of course 😄).
May 21, 20206 yr Going back to The Sopranos I watched the episode last night when they have an intervention because of Christopher's heroin addiction. It ends up in a shouting match before the inevitable fight Christopher shouts at Tony '' You fat f**k the way you eat you'll be dead at 50 with a heart attack '' just wow life imitating art but vice versa in this case.

I've only seen the tail end of the programs though it looks like they were talking about mental health issues, gambling and other addictions. Saw the last 20 mins last night as they took on the Germans very surprised we won. It was funny after we scored as Merson could hardly get down the pitch and Seaman made some good saves. Our club was not mentioned even though Beasant and Jones (of Wales 😉) put in an appearance, of course Wimbledon was their team. What I liked was the banter between the players it seemed quite relaxed and genuine.

Hes a massive d**khead, my brother in law had him for a sportsmans dinner and he almost told him to f**k off home as he was being such a moron. Shame Merse didnt give him an hiding. I thought Paul Merson was brilliant came across really well and its great to see him getting to grips with his demons. Lee Hendrie also was interesting, hearing how hard it was for him after he left football.

Lee Hendrie was the star of the team certainly the most fit and quite sharp in front of goal, he was in his 40s many other were in their 50s's. I had forgotten he was a decent player until I saw the highlights. Merson stilled showed some good moves early on though understandably tired badly. Good to know Ruddock is an idiot, lets hope he finds proper help though somehow don't think he will look for it.

I was a decent footballer but one thing is universal all the players I met whether it was Sunday League or even at school the best footballers in the team are always flash and usually horrible pricks. Ruddock must have been insufferable to play with at school or the county etc did he play in the same team as Tim Sherwood at Spurs could you imagine them two in the dressing room?.
