What TV Show Are You Waarching?

Featured Replies

I saw Damnation on Netflix, there is only 1 season and it got canceled but that show is probably much better than whatever is the most popular thing going on...

Obviously a more socialist plot mixed with some religious motives won't have any future on Netflix.

Our telly is probably a bit old now, but it has something called a "volume" button on the remote.  Oddly, it can allow you to make the sounds coming out of the TV both louder AND quieter on the same button.  A bit like Beckham's thermos flask.

Trust me if you did that you wouldn't hear the dialogue but you would hear the music. Apparently it's happening on a lot of shows where the incidental music is really loud Doctor Who is supposed to be bad for it as well.

Turn down the volume and even then the music is really loud even on the trailer,

Have you ever started watching something even though you're not particularly enjoying it but think sod it I might as well stick it out ?. I'm doing a Magnus Magnusson (won't mean anything to anyone under 30) with The Third Day  it's basically a Wicker Man rip off which is an overrated film in my opinion. I wouldn't mind going to the island it's set on though just to see what it's like to be on an island that you can't get off and there are no street lamps Osea Island in Essex it seems more preferable to be there rather then a Saturday night in Chelmsford.

I was the same. I've concluded its just dark pointless rubbish. The story is thin and none of the characters are nice at all. My wife and I both said exactly the same about Whicker Man. That definitely was rubbish and over rated.

I watched the first episode and thought I'd stick with it because the cast and the production values were good . I watched the second and still didn't like it but thought I'd watch the third because it looked like it was going to be the concluding episode. Third day and all that. It finished and we thought that was the end of it. A week later a 4th episode surfaced and we thought lets see where it goes after that.

15 minutes in we switched over and haven't been back.

Started watching Brave New World on Sky and am enjoying it. It not the best but the sex and drugs are good. It even had a bit of Rock'n'Roll in the last episode I watched.

I binned TV as we all know it about 4 years ago now iam on a mag box 254 and all my TV channels are streamed

and its opened up a new World to me as it changes the way you watch TV .

i know watch what i want to watch not what the TV wants me to watch . £25 a month and i have channels from all over the World. no end

of films to select ,playback that goes back 12 days ,never miss a chelsea game or any other premeirship ,Championship or whatever national teams International games .

any PPV events that come up like tyson fury boxing bouts come with the service at no extra cost ,so chelsea v Southampton was a walk in the

park for me  via bein sports at no extra cost .

give it 5/10 years and the BBC will have to re adjust how it opperates as they kick the TV leicence option into touch > who watches the BBC today ? I will watch MOTD and dragons den and thats it    > BBC News is now a joke and baised as they tell you what they want to hear instead of reporting what is actually happening . Today i watch a Australia News channel that allways gives a unbaised true account of whatever World News worthy event .

Lost faith in the BBC years ago and it didn’t really dawn on me until then, just how terribly cringeworthy it is. They charge you for that sh*t! A network full of wronguns as well.

Its a station entirely driven by an agenda now unfortunately.

I watched the first episode of the new series last night and the tasks were a bit lame (it must be hard to keep coming up with new ideas), but some of the studio bits had me in hysterics. There's nothing else on TV that does this to me.

Going to throw this band into the fray > New Order > I went throu a phase of all things New Order back in the day ,I could not really get into joy division since I found the music a tad depressing but after listening and buying cassetts then cds all New Order it opened the door to joy division for me somewhat . This track > temptation > was one of my favorite New Order tracks and they have quite a few that are bang on > the video to temptation helps put the said track beyond reach > or is it that the girl is a sort ? > the LP that she nicks in the shop is that a joy division LP called unknown pleasures ?

I've been watching the Designated Survivor starring Kiefer Sutherland as a junior minister propelled into the White House following a major terrorist attack.

I'm half way through season 1 and am impressed to date and just looked up the date to see it was released April 2016 as it seems to mirror a lot of political events of the last 20 years rolled into one series.

The only other actress I am familiar with is Natascha McElhone as the First Lady.

Seeing it was released in 2016 I bet half of you have already seen it 😃

Anyone watched Ted Lasso? I’m not saying it was good but I watched it in one sitting...

From Bill Lawerence of Spin City/Cougar Town/Scrubs fame; American Football Coach (Jason Sudeikis) brought over to coach Richmond FC despite knowing f**k all about football. The ‘home’ ground used to film was Selhurst Park apparently.

Just came here to post about Ted Lasso and saw your post.

I really enjoyed it, and I hear there's going to be three seasons, so I can sort of guess how the story is going to develop. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Roy Kent in the next season.

Bill Lawerence has said he’d only like four seasons max anyway so it’s good it’s been renewed for at least three.

You can almost guarantee Roy Kent will end up as a coach at the club. The actor, Brett Goldstein (also a hilarious stand-up) who plays him is also one of the writers along with Nick Mohammed.

Yeah, he seems like a fairly central character, so I'd be surprised if he just retired completely. He seems to have bonded with Lasso so can definitely see them working together, and he'll end up best mates with Jamie Tartt somehow.

Is it weird that I've been more invested in an imaginary football team than Chelsea for the past few weeks ?

Not really, any distraction from reality is very welcome right now :good2:

Here's a few things I've been watching lockdown has upped my viewing. The Strain all four series very good and very prophetic one of the characters says '' We underestimated Sars and we are open to a world wide pandemic anytime because of the amount of travelling on planes that we do'' !!.

The Queen's Gambit halfway through it's ok not quite sure of the brilliant reviews it's getting. The show I'm enjoying the most is Patriot I'm on the second series it was cancelled unfortunately it's very quirky and funny and also very funny only three episodes so far have been shown is Resident Alien.

Watched a very interesting programme about the actor Hedy Lamarr the other night. Lamarr was born in Austria but left that country in the 1930s to escape Nazism: she was Jewish. Her acting career started in Austria and she appeared in a controversial film Ecstasy aged 17 in 1933. After leaving Austria she went to London and was spotted by Louis Mayer of MGM and sigend up to that studio - those were the days when studios had a lot of control over actors.

Whilst best known as an actor she was a keen inventor and scientist something which had been encouraged by her father. An it was in the field of invention that is probably her greatest legacy. With George Antheil they developed the system of frequency which they saw as being used to guide torpedoes against enemy shipping. A patent was submitted to the U.S. Navy  in 1942 but was rejected. Eventually it was used by the U.S. Navy from the late fifties but by that time Lamarr's rights to royalties under patent laws had expired. The work that Lamarr and Antheil did paved the way for Wi-FI, GPS and Bluetooth.
