November 2, 20196 yr I've watched the first two episodes of Watchmen and also caught up on The Good Place. I'm kinda getting tired of racism/sexism being the core theme of so many shows coming from America at the moment. There are only so many times you can take the same lectures and Trump references. I'm probably going to drop Watchmen because of it (will stick with The Good Place because it's only got a small number of episodes left). Titans is also enjoyable as a 'played straight' superhero series, Doom Patrol and The Boys are both far better but they both subvert superhero shows and sometimes you just want superpowered people hitting each other.

His Dark Materials is definitely more suited to television, gives the story more room to breathe and more world-building. The Subtle Knife is my favourite book out of the three and I'm thrilled to hear they are already filming it!

I really do struggle with so-called "adult" TV which has talking dogs and dragons and the like. Could never understand grown-ups rabbiting on about Harry Potter, and Doctor w**king Who. I think that prime time BBC 1 programs should not be childrens' shows, there's a whole world of CBBCs for that.

November 4, 20196 yr I just noticed The End of the F***ing World is back on channel 4. I didn't even know they were making a second series. The first one was excellent so this is great news.

Yeah, prime time should be more for sh*te like eastenders, or some talent show with talentless f**kwits....

Decent drama for adults once the kids have gone to bed, or a proper fillum, like the old days" Or both, I understand there are more than 2 channels these days. But put the cartoons on the Watch with Mother slot in the afternoons, if you have to. Apparently, all this dragons and talking dogs and snakes that can both fly and juggle are, according to Jack Rowling, w**kium Childissimus. (I had to google that!)

You're right. I'm watching Dexter for the third time, which another couple of years I will probably watch it again. I am honing my skills.

Wouldn't know Munky, I get really bored with the same old, same old. Give me something new and well-written and I'm a happy bunny. Give me a talking rabbit who is also an international concert pianist and assassin and I'd rather smear scotch bonnet paste in my eyes. Nothing, but nothing, beats an 8 year-old edition of Bargain Hunt, mind.
November 7, 20196 yr I hardly watch any drama nowadays, I watch that many documentaries i cant go back to pretend stuff. If i watch a film i forget it pretty quick, but a decent doc will get my head thinking , usually with eye opening, jaw dropping twists and turns.. Tonight i binge nearly 4 hours of what looks like a brilliant watch, The Devil Next Door, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11165002/
November 7, 20196 yr The new Sky Crime channel has some good docs on catch up. 'The disappearance of Susan Cox Powell', 'Who killed Garrett Phillips' are both good, 'I love you now die' that's well weird, also good 'The Chesire Murders'.

December 2, 20196 yr I do love a BBC and was really looking forward to War of the Worlds. Well, what an utter disappointment. It was probably the bleakest and most boring BBC adaption I have ever seen. I stayed with it but thankfully it finished last night and I've a good mind to write to the BBC and request part of my licence fee back - it was THAT bad!! Edited December 2, 20196 yr by Nibs

I was told by someone at work war of the worlds was rubbish after looking forward to it. Apparently an independent company is making an adaption of it too, might wait for that one.

But the point stands - if you haven't watched WOTW yet, don't bother. 3 hours of your life you won't get back!
