John Stones

Think Martinez basically said to stones there the only way he gets to go is hand in a transfer request and forget his loyalty bonus.

So how much, if at all, does stones want this move? Ball is in your court kid.

Good article by SF and probably more informed than most, but the word in these parts is that he won't put in a transfer request, though he's happy to go to Chelsea. It is well known that he's a United fan and the rumour is growing that he will go there next summer after one more season at Everton, it's pure conjecture and not intended to wind you lot up, but it's gathering pace. I really wish my team were owned by a rich American family looking to squeeze every penny/cent out of sport, or a Russian gangster raising his profile for life insurance.

...see, I was with you there for a moment ....until you called our owner a Russian Gangster....now f**k off

This Stones saga is going to die or be completed this week, obviously.  So I would expect news either way very soon and if we are going to bid for a 4th time, we wont be waiting long for it

All done by Wednesday lunchtime I reckon.

Everton have a problem. Looks like he desperately wants to leave but they're adamant they won't sell. Do they really want to keep an unhappy player? They're probably best off getting as much money as they can if he really wants to join us. If the papers are right about his desire to leave, they're going to find it very difficult to keep hold of him, contract or not.

I can keep posting, but it'll just be repetitive and you'll find me annoying (if you don't already, which some clearly do).

He's not leaving Everton in this window. Last time, I promise. I'll pop back on the 2nd September, or if you sign him before that date.

I tend to like your posts as I like to see it from the other sides point of view and they are generally well composed and thoughtful and I agree with you in this as I don't think we are in a big enough rush too sign Stones so we aren't going to pay the absolutely ridiculous fee for him so unless Stones forces a move it isn't happening and I'm not sure Stones has the stones to do that.

Agreed Pedro. The only caveat in my statement is if Chelsea or another club bid an absurd amount, beyond what has already been discussed in the media.

In these situations local journalists are infinitely closer to the story than national journalists, and every single indication locally is that the player will not request a transfer or kick up as fuss.

With respect the story in the Express is clickbait, and it's written by John Richardson (I think). If you've ever read any of his stuff before or seen him on the Sunday Supplement, he's a hack and nothing more.

The other reason I'm so certain is that Martinez said it wouldn't even matter if the player did submit a transfer request now, it's too late in the window for us to replace him properly, and it would affect our season too much.

Fair point and tbh if it was going to happen it would have happened a long time ago, but you'd imagine they would have at least a couple of players lined up just in case as that's the sensible thing to do as it has been a long transfer saga plus you need a good CB to come in anyway as you are looking a thin at the back

To be honest I do not believe Stones is desperate to move to us. I think it is more a case of if Everton receive an offer they simply cannot turn down then he would take the move, but does not want it enough to force it.

I think the Everton fan who posted earlier today saying he is a Man United fan as a kid has it on the money. If United bid now or in the future he will slap in that transfer requests quick smart.

Why did you use a capital G? I don't think there's much to choose between any of these billionaires from a moral standpoint, if you think Roman's gains are not ill gotten that's up to you.

Christ, give it a rest you pillock.

Frankly if Stones does indeed say he wants to leave then thats game over for Everton, players (and their agents) hold all the power now unfortunately so he will move.

And if you think they are, it's not really wise to say so when new on a rival forum, etiquette.

Stones to score this weekend, lift his shirt up in celebration revealing a Chelsea shirt underneath with "why not me?" Printed on the back.

Transfer concluded Monday morning for twenty quid and a packet of toffees.

I'm very bored and uninterested over this 'saga'.

yet another hefty & salient contribution to a thread from you...good of you to inform all of us of your current state of mind.
