John Stones

Sam Wallace of the Independent, reckons we are confident of 1 more big name, along with Stones (if he joins) before window shuts.  So 2 more hopefully

Pogba/Isco/Koke/Griezmann/Witsel/Calhanoglu/Gonalons and Stones.

Take your pick.

Bet you he doesn't put in a transfer request. I'll eat humble pie if I'm wrong, but I bet he doesn't.

I know we all favour publications when they say something we want, and discredit them when they say something we don't like, but The Sun....seriously?

Our board is definitely full or morons, in reference to an earlier comment. That's objectively true.

He probably will not. If he does it shows he wants the move. If he does not it shows he would rather stay at Everton imo.

They should try that triangular blue pill, hear it really helps the lads get up for it.

I don't recommend it if you're young and virile mate, I could have run round stoke starkers in December for 8 hours and still have hung 4 wet towels on it after, scary stuff that..

Don't let my missus hear you say that...................................she'll be round your house...........with the laundry

If we want another player along with Stones then it surely has to be a partner beside Matic. If this happens we will absolutely spank this league. We will have address all of our problem areas with potentially excellent improvements.

Now I'm getting excited.

You and oneclubinlondon better watch out......all that excitement and blue pills you and him could be coming before Pogba and Stones.. :ArousedSmiley:

Martinez has told sky "he isn't aware of any transfer request", strange wording tbh.

Does that mean he could have made one to the board behind martinez's back?

Why not just say stones hasn't made a transfer request.

This calls for the Martinez sobbing uncontrollably picture again.

His article is titled "Chelsea transfer news: Champtions confident of securing one more major summer signing in john stones or paul pogba after arrival of pedro"

the article actually alludes to the fact there's only one more coming in unfortunately, although he has tweeted differently

more glaring indications that journos dont know what the f**k theyre talking about.

Morning all, Evertonian here wanting to add to what is becoming the most boring transfer saga of the summer (does anyone truly understand what goes on?). Just for a bit of balance, if you listen to this morning's Martinez press conference a journalist asks him if he is aware of a transfer request form John Stones, to which he replies 'no I am not'. His response is then distorted to read 'Martinez not aware of a transfer request', which keeps the story rolling and gets everyone wondering why Martinez didn't just say NO, which in fact he did.

I am not in denial about Stones, but as fans, our strings are pulled by the press on a daily basis and you can't take anything reported in the press (football or anything else) at face value, they all rehash each others stories in an effort to get more hits and myths abound. I would love to know what is really happening with Stones, but I get the distinct impression that we will never know the real story. Most of us think our board have done a deal and have asked Chelsea to wait so we can spend in advance of the sale, I'd be surprised if that were true, simply because we wouldn't be playing him otherwise. As a kid Chelsea were my second team, quite bizarre how things have turned out (for now).

I know it is clutching at straws blue62, but do you not think it slightly worrying how the usual not for sale, etc  wasn't trotted out in his presser?

Like i said, probably nothing, and was no reason to say it, but it has been a common theme in his press conferences until today when the transfer request rumour (or total lie) was reported

That is kind of right though, he has answered "no i am not" so although the headline that Martinez actually said the words "im not aware of a transfer request" is wrong,  the answer does indicate that he isnt aware of one, so i can see why the headline has been written, aswell as for clicks.  In regards to the "no" stuff, if i was him I'd have said "no, we have not received a transfer request from the player, and again I repeat he is not for sale"

As for what is going on really, anyones guess.  But I don't think we would carry on bidding without some encouragement, whether that be from Stones' agent, who knows. I think Stones himself is most likely in a mindset of willing to stay at Everton and would have no problem doing so, but would also have no problem coming here. That is why I doubt very much that he will hand in a TR as the situation is win-win for him.

I don't believe that he isnt for sale, as every player has a price.

He is absolutely for sale Rick at the right price, in point of fact the whole f****ng club is for sale at the right price! Part of the abject misery of following Everton is knowing that we have a true supporter at the helm who just won't let go, despite offers. I don't understand why Chelsea have strung this out, they could easily afford an offer we couldn't refuse weeks ago, so maybe there's more to the story. As for Martinez comments, I feel sorry for him and any other manager in this situation, every word he utters on the subject is scrutinised to the extent that it doesn't matter what he actually says, people will interpret it any way they want to.

i think everton lose about 15%, possibly even 20% from the sale of stones so they will be looking for at least £40 million, if not more.

I agree with Blue62, I think a deal has been agreed and we're waiting for Everton to sign players. There's no way we would bid £26m and £30m knowing full well that would get him.

I think it's smoke and mirrors to help Everton not look like they sold him easily and to also help them get players in.
