May 12, 201610 yr Always have and always will be a Jose fan. Also, have a very strong soft spot for Guus. After the sacking of Jose and Guus taking over there was all this banter about YOUTH YOUTH YOUTH. I think in the time that Guus has been in charge we have seen a handful of YOUTH play for the club. What are you thoughts Chelsea fans. Have we done better in the 2nd half? Should of we seen more youth players given game time?
May 12, 201610 yr Yes he should have played youth more, and I'm disappointed that when he seemed to get serious about youth and was starting them regularly, he then for some odd reason reverted to older players. I'm almost certain that if we kept Jose the youth would have gotten practically no playing time, so the youth have still been better off under Guus. An academy player commented that Guus integrated them with the first team, letting them train and interact with the first team and get mentored by first team players and coaching staff. A nice thing to hear, though that may say more about Jose than Guus.
May 12, 201610 yr I'll keep it simple. Guus has done okay, but I wish Jose was still here. Edited May 12, 201610 yr by CFC-Forever
May 12, 201610 yr JT was as well taking over. It would have saved us a ton of money and we couldn't really have done any worse. Guus was a success in keeping us up while he was a failure in everything else. Some say that was the most important thing but personally I thought he was every bit as poor as Jose was at the start of the season.
May 12, 201610 yr If José wasn't going to utd next season I wouldn't feel his sacking was a bad thing, but now I don't know how to feel. We were in a situation where results weren't inproving and we don't know how long that would've continued for. I think the confrontation he brought with the staff and media got out of hand and the club was constantly in the spotlight which wasn't reflecting well on us at all. Guus has come in and done ok, but the players also need to take blame for not putting the effort in to continue fighting after José was gone. If hazard has been genuinely injured then fair enough, but it shows the difference he makes to the team when in it. As for youth, I would have liked to have seen more such as colkett, palmer, abraham, etc throughout the season instead of just recently.
May 12, 201610 yr Hasn't this topic already been done to death in numerous other threads? Looking at just how bad things were back in December, it was pretty inevitable that Jose was getting the boot. Not saying "he had to go", but he had made it an easy option. Like Guus but it does appear age has caught up with him and he has become something of a dinosaur. Just like Jose, by coming back he has tarnished what was achieved before and I can't wait for the season to end.

Are you forgetting the fact that we won the league at a canter last year?
May 12, 201610 yr You say that like Jose's return was a total and utter disaster. Are you forgetting the fact that we won the league at a canter last year? Where am I saying he was a total & utter disaster? Yes, last season we (and he) did great. But the way things all ended and how poor we were and how sour things turned, it HAS tarnished what went before first time around.
May 12, 201610 yr I don't think either of our two managers this season have in any way tarnished what they achieved previously.

I think his legacy would only have been tarnished if we had failed to win the league on his return.
May 12, 201610 yr With regards to Jose he wasn’t as good as he was in his first stint but he still came back, changed the direction the club were going in and got us to the top of English football again. Because guys like Jose were so successful before it made it virtually impossible to better that so the only way was down really. The real disappointment is how his mood changed after the title win, he just seemed agitated…hostile and ultimately it look like he lost the players he thought would emulate his previous Chelsea side. Guus came in last time and took us a minute away from a CL final and won the FA Cup. This time around his record has been on the whole very poor especially with regards to our home results and form. He was knocked out of 2 cups and failed to get us up the league to a European position that was entirely possible when he came in. I think the squad he had last time hugely helped him with the likes of Lampard, Drogba, Terry, Cech and Cole all at their peak’s…those were world class players. I do think Guus is overrated somewhat and his stint with Holland and us this season backs that up for me.
May 12, 201610 yr Jose didn't tarnish what he achieved but he certainly went out on a very bad note and I certainly won't miss him. I really did grow tired with the negative press he brought to the club and the negative football which was producing negative results. Guss has been average but done what I expected him too. He's only an interim so I'm not gonna slate him.
May 12, 201610 yr "Tarnished what he achieved before". I think his legacy would only have been tarnished if we had failed to win the league on his return. Guess it boils down to interpretation of "tarnished". I'm not saying all that went before should be forgotten. What I'm saying is in Jose's case, I loved the bloke and was gutted when he got sacked 1st time and hated seeing him at any other club. Always wondered what could have been. After this time round that is no longer the case. Nothing can take away the past success, but I wouldn't want Mourinho back and don't care where he now ends up. That's what I mean by tarnished. As for Guus, I was at Wembley when we beat Everton and was singing "we want you to stay" along with everyone. Now, I don't want him to stay and am counting the days till he leaves, so again, for me that has tarnished my memory of Hiddink as CFC manager. Edited May 12, 201610 yr by Nibs
May 12, 201610 yr Some youth have played more, some less. The biggest differences I've seen between the two managers is that certain players have just put in more effort ( as Fabregas said, Mourinho's biggest mistake this season was trusting them too much) and the fact that Mikel has now started more games under Hiddink than the previous 2 seasons combined. Ambition baby.
May 12, 201610 yr Love story between me and Jose is over and it makes me angry thinking about how self inflicted and unnecessary it all was. I'm sure many other fans feel the same way as me. I really didn't care about winning the league this season but the negative press and football became too much for me to take.

I really didn't care about winning the league this season but the negative press and football became too much for me to take. 1st line yes, 2nd line half no half yes.. I wanted him back and definitely went along with 'bring back the special one' chorus but soon left disappointed with his old school styles and behaviours.. Sure, people can say he came with the same baggage 1st time around but that's a lazy summary.. His football wasn't that bad 1st time around and he was tactically sound but 2nd stint was different, his football became worse and to my bemusement, he was pretty much tactically inept for most part of the seasons, his subs often made no sense, not too mention he's done quite a lot PR disaster with his man management, clear favoritism and dictatorship attitude.. I know some people would still close an eye over his flaws as long as we're winning but we didn't so that's it for me.. I wanted him back but at the end I'm just glad it's over..
May 12, 201610 yr Jose was sacked 2 months too late. You could tell early on, despite what the pundits were saying, that this wasn't going to be a "this will get better in a few games" kind of thing. It wasn't getting better. We actually spent some time near the top of the form table under Guss, but we were left in the position of needing to barely drop any points to get back on track. The season ended in September unfortunately.
May 12, 201610 yr "Tarnished what he achieved before". I think his legacy would only have been tarnished if we had failed to win the league on his return. maybe for some people that his 1st stint was so damn good that his 2nd just fell short.. unbeaten at home, most points, least goal conceded, we all saw him as some kind of savior 1st time around so when he, among other manager that ever got hired by roman, made us as relegation possibility then I would say that's enough for the word tarnished...
