I hope you guys are wrong about the 2 horse race part. Cause if we are the horse that falls the grief we will get from them and the Liverpool loving media will make our mocking of slippery g seem like a nats fart in a tornado...

Liverpool will not win the league. I can bet on that.
They keeper is really bad, their defence is bad. To win the title you need both good defence and keeper. Sooner then later they will start losing points, and for sure will lose more points then we against "small teams" ....

The only team that i feel as a real danger this year was Manchester City. But after this lose they are really far far away from us.

We are BLUE keep our heads high !!!

my worry is that we've been on a record making run and yet we are still just 6 points ahead; it won't take too much for that gap to be closed. Wednesday at Spurs is massive.

That's my worry too mate, you'd think winning 13 in a row we'd be clearer. 6 points is good and you'd rather be in our position than want one else's of course. But it only takes a few draws or a few defeats and our run would mean nothing.

exactly and you've got to think we will hit a difficult spell at some stage. I'm hoping Jose will do us a favour and take 3 points off Liverpool at OT and they are prone to drop the odd freak result (Bournemouth) - but just now it looks like our trip to Anfield will be decisive

I just fear with them having that win over us at Stamford Bridge that gives them the edge in their home game.

it's hard to call - almost anything could happen but we are a completely different outfit from the side that played them at the Bridge

Liverpool don't look anything particularly special, but they are still picking up wins. They have too much going forward against the smaller sides, they will beat most of them comfortably, and they seem to have improved in the bigger games and become harder to beat. I think they've got a better chance of winning it this year than that season under Rodgers.

Before the run we were 8 points off first weren't we?

To go from 8 behind to 6 clear in 13 games is good.

If tonight was the end of our title bid, F-ck it Antonio, Stretch that lead to 15, Don't want the 3 unbearable establishment clubs getting their hands anywhere near the trophy.

Happy New Year anyway mate, who knows what the next few months will bring. Here's hoping it's lots of fun.

Once again it's up to us to stop Liverpool winning their first premier league trophy. We did it a few years ago and we'll do it again this year.

Hendo injured, Mane to Afcon, Coutinho injured.

They will be missing some big names in JAN. And I think they have some tough games in the coming month.

I thought Coutinho was back in training?

They do have the semis of the league cup to contend with and there are FA Cup games so hopefully they get a little distracted aswell.

@Kinkladze1871 what you make of Guardiola so far?

Tough one Bobby because had we not have had that 10 game winning streak to start the season and this was the pattern of his entire time here, Nobody would have been surprised, Trying to get such a complex philosophy across to a bunch of half wits like Aguero, Kolarov, Otamendi etc was always going to be tough. What that early season form did was make people think he has imposed his playing style on us but to be fair given how poor our defence has been he has to adjust his philosophy to the Prem. Those stories about Guardiola wanting to get rid of Aguero were not paper talk, I truly think he does, Lampard said on socceram how he would rock up to training late and not care, No wonder why he can't stay fit for a full season and no wonder why he cannot replicate what Suarez has done despite being equally as gifted, It pains me to say it but we need to cash in on him before he suffers a big injury or something, Maybe PSG are dumb enough to pay £60 mill for him or maybe the Chinese might come in with a £100 mill offer. Back to Guardiola's struggles, I'm not surprised because my early season prediction was for us to finish 2nd/3rd although i was dreading the team in 1st would be Mourinho's lot, Conte has used the early season struggles to his advantage, Can Pep do the same for the CL? Who knows. I haven't thrown the towel in for the title however it's a weird one, If i root for Chelsea to slip up and we're not the ones who take advantage, It will be one heck of a long summer if the gooners or Liverpool took advantage.

Happy new year to you and everyone else on here carrick, Given how many elite managers there are in the league and also Wenger, You can't rule out anymore twists and turns i agree.

Totally get you, I remember back in 13-14 when we beat Liverpool. There was still a chance we could topped the league by seasons end but given we'd f**ked up the week before I was just praying City would win it so that Liverpool couldn't. Of course first priority is to win it but the fear of seeing Arsenal or Liverpool win it does sometimes make you think.

On your team I'm starting to notice Aguero doesn't seem to have the influence on games he uses to. But he's still scored a lot of goals, you sell him who replaces him?
