August 28, 20169 yr Fabregas is not in the Spain squad so didn't need resting I didn't realise that..... However my opinion still doesn't change. I think he will be a regular starter this season
August 28, 20169 yr Was at the game yesterday and only gone through the 26 pages now. This shouldn't be the case but I enjoy going through the thread for enjoyment of pre game meltdown and character assassination during game. In the bar up in the Matt Harding upper there was no sighs when the team was announced nor ripping into certain players when they gave the ball away. There were bad performances from lots last season, it's gone. Let's look to here and now, it was a big difference in one week since Watford and thoroughly entertaining. Two games won with a battle and the third won with a bit of class. I'm looking forward now. C O Y B
August 28, 20169 yr Author I didn't realise that..... However my opinion still doesn't change. I think he will be a regular starter this season I just can't see it myself andy mate. I think Conte has decided we only have the space in the starting XI for one luxury player, and that has to be Eden. Ruud said on MOTD last night about Eden, "he must be allowed to be free from tracking back", and I have to say I agree with him. However if Eden becomes injured or unavailable, I could see Conte turning to Cesc then, he could push Oscar into Hazards position and Fab into Oscars position.
August 28, 20169 yr Hall Of Shame/Excruciating Cringeworthiness The same sh*te team again, awful 70 minutes coming up until Fabregas and Batshuayi come on and save usNo cesc, no michy, same old sameHow many times does he except this crap team to get bailed out by the subs? Sick of the sight of Oscar and Ivanovic.Too conservative a lineup IMO.Only 3 games in, but please Conte, do not fall into the trap of playing the same names, no matter how poor they are/how well their replacements play.Cesc and Michy should be in, 2 uptoprafa > conte0-0 at half with that boring ass lineup.0 creativity... no Moses, no Aina, no Fabregas, no RLC. It's time to lose points. Where is the proverbial Conte flexibility? What's the likelihood that ivanovic has inflammatory text exchanges on both mourinho AND conte?Dissapointing that Fabregas is not starting atleast, Burnley will in the most of this game stay deep and Oscar/Matic will struggle with finding the right passes.Conte what r u playing at??? Oscar been crap the last two games yet still picked in front of cesc what a joke....No Fab, Matic and Oscar both starting. SIIIGGGHHHH.We are playing at home aren't we? I thought with that line up we were at Turf Moor.....what a load of bollocks...it will be as bad as watching f**king paint dry. I was hoping for some exciting football this year.We are hosting a team that will sit back with 2 banks of 4 why are we fielding a defensive team? If anything you would think get a couple of goals with fab and bats on then tighten up when we have a lead not 80 minutes of dull then panic stations last 10 mins?Negatively starts already just thought it would be different i will stay away again. August 28, 20169 yr No he can't play. With that back 4 and with Matic being so-so, you need at least one more to defend. And that is Oscar. That's what I am talking about. If we get another CB or Matic is reliable enough at the upcoming games, I think that Fabregas is going to play. Now if Fabregas isn't a Conte type player, we don't know it for sure. I am not a fan of Fabregas, I never was. I always thought of him as a foreign body despite helping us winning the title. You may be right. If Fabregas was a Conte type player he would of started one of the PL games yet and not just the league Cup. You can easily fit Fabregas into a team which has Kante, Matic and Willian. If he don't want him fair enough but Chelsea will badly miss his creativity.
August 28, 20169 yr Maybe I didn't express myself too well but I can easily see Conte looking at the fixture list and thinking Cesc will feature for Spain so use him sparingly or not at all against Burnley, Watford, Bristol Rovers After the international break Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester. I really don't think he is keeping him out of the team due to ability or team structure Conte is keeping Fab out because he isn't his sort of player. Every manager has there favourites.
August 28, 20169 yr I can agree to disagree with you ... But don't bother with type of player argument it really is nonsense
August 28, 20169 yr I can agree to disagree with you ... But don't bother with type of player argument it really is nonsense How do you work that one out? Like Mata with Mourinho when they was both at Chelsea.

August 28, 20169 yr Don't think anyone looked at that line up and thought it was good to play 2 defensive mids, 1 up top at home to Burnley, it worked out but doesn't change anything, seems like a chance to rub it in peoples faces for those who didn't happen to comment at that time, 95% of chelsea fans I reckon would have been disappointed at seeing the same line up and formation that got us 10th last year, everyone wanted 2 up top and for fab to be on, I'm against negativity but saying you would like to see a bit of change...hardly cringeworthy, huge effort made for a bit of a gloat but I'll keep it diplomatic since I'm new here...
August 28, 20169 yr Come on its one thing being slightly disappointed or concerned about a line-up before a game kicks off, but totally another to come out with the kind of stuff seen above...everyone knows I'm not Oscar's biggest fan, but I don't lose the plot when I see him named in the team before kick-off

August 28, 20169 yr "Sick of the sight of Iva and Oscar." ^I recognize those words. What a mug! (In my defence - If I may be allowed it - I was in a pretty black mood at the time, and seeing the teamsheet didn't help!)

Conte makes mourinho look like an attacking manager Names have been omitted in order to avoid further embarrassment,. Some of these are genuinely cringeworthy, but hindsight is always 20/20. As for me, I own up to the bolded comment. I'm glad the lineup worked this time around.
August 29, 20169 yr You're right of course. Hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing. However, the intention of my previous post wasn't to gloat, so I won't apologise for including some of the less extreme pre-match comments. By the sane token, neither am i going to highlight any of the more blatantly cringe-worthy comments for ridicule. All I actually did was to take a selection of comments from pages 5-7, i.e.from the time the starting XI was announced up till kick-off. So it really didn't take much time or effort at all. In fact it's probably going to take me longer to write this post than it did to make that one. Saying all that, the increasing tendency to bitch and moan and whine and winge gets a little wearing at times. Prior to this match we'd played three competitive matches and won then all. With a new manager, who has no previous experience of the Premier League. And yet I've seen people bewailing the awful position we we were in. It gets a bit much, you know? I'm vaguely considering making a the Hall of Shame a regular feature, but at the same time I'm hoping against hope that it won't be necessary. In which case I might actually have achieved something. Where there's life and all that.

To me it is obvious I agree. I could be wrong but my recollections are that Cesc has had a bigger influence on games in the PL for us when brought on later usually because he is by then, not surprisingly, given more space/time on the ball. It would be interesting to see some stats on his assists time-wise in games & no doubt Conte has all those. I don't know why some constantly whinge/bemoan the fact that he's not started against teams set up to defend/counter from the off. It makes eminent sense to not start him against those teams. August 29, 20169 yr Wow shows how different people see Fabregas as a player. He is simply one of the most creative and best passers in the premiership. When teams sit back you would rather player Fabregas for his passing and to pick the holes. You see City dropping Silva, Arsenal Ozil or Carzola. No way. Who would I rather have on the pitch to break down a team, Oscar, Willian or Fabregas. Sorry but that's an easy answer. Fabregas won't stay for long being used in the league cup and here and there in the prem. He is too good for that.

To me it is obvious Time will tell and I will humbly put my hands up if my opinion is wrong Fabregas hasn't started in the premiership yet. That tells me Fabregas isn't in Contes starting 11. How long will he put up with that? January, next summer most. Depends who bids for him. Looking at Mata now is not the answer. It was the example of when he and Mourinho was at Chelsea. Same with KDB. Same with Hart and Pep. Lots of examples. Mata won't stay in the starting 11 when all things settle down at Utd and the signings have settled in.
August 29, 20169 yr Been at Leeds all weekend so only been able to watch the highlights so far. Can anyone give me a quick summary of how each player was?

This myth about 'can only afford 1 luxury player' is just bullsh*t.. if conte does think that way then he's thinking chelsea as some sort of mediocre team who require most of the players to be red alert on defending.. While we're at it, I also can't stand another myth where as some people think a midfield can't do without a big body tall player in it... Technical over physical for me..
