August 27, 20169 yr 3-0? Is that all we could do against BURNLEY? Sorry, I'm not buying it. What a pathetic display against a piss poor team. Conte out, Rafa IN
August 27, 20169 yr I like to point out Matic was just as effective as Kante i think a few of us are overlooking his performance because of last season he's not back to his beast mode but Conte believes in him and am glad he's getting the confidence to get back his old form For me kante was for better. Matic was actually above average so you are right there...but kante put in a really, really good performance.
August 27, 20169 yr Conte, Matic, Hazard were absolutely Brilliant. We bossed burnley and played some real slick football. On the other hand, Burnley were atrocious. How did they beat pool 2-0
August 27, 20169 yr Very, very positive performance. We were totally dominant, to the point that I'd say that 3-0 was not an unfair scoreline. What was most encouraging was the extent to which this was a team performance - there isn't a player in our team who didn't deserve at least a 7/10. Kanté and Hazard are quickly becoming our standout players, and those who struggled last season seem to be finding form; Matic in particular had a very good game. Four games in and it already seems like Conte is building something special. I'm looking forward to the ride.
August 27, 20169 yr Author Courtois could have napped through this. Was he there ? cameras hardly went down his end.

I thought Matic had a very good game today, decent in possession and got forward more with the security of Kante mopping up behind him. Small steps but this should boost his confidence.
August 27, 20169 yr I don't think I've seen Oscar play better than today. He had an amazing game vs. Arsenal one time I believe. Can't remember when exactly though.
August 27, 20169 yr What I think is that Fabregas is not playing because of our defensive line. Imagine Fabregas playing (without Oscar who did a splendid work today and at the first game vs. West Ham) a 10 role without defending. Or imagine Fabregas playing without Matic. Far more than sure at least one goal conceded. Conte is not an idiot. We'll see that if we buy a reliable CB, then Fabregas will get more and more playing time. Extra: N'golo Kante is SUCH A BARGAIN!! I don't know why no one did a better proposal than we did in order to buy him. Matic seems to find his old good form (for me his good form was when he came again in the middle of 2013-2014 and not when we were champions!) Hazard not more than being Hazard! And last but not least all hail DAVE for his passion. I can't even remember a single bad game from him, since he started playing in 2013. KTBFFH!
August 27, 20169 yr Excellent result and performance today. Very dominant and three cracking goals. Could have been more if it hadn't been for Burnley's goalie. Kante was superb. Reminds me of Makelele. Great atmosphere at the ground today. In the pub afterwards we agreed that it was the best performance in a long time.
August 27, 20169 yr Didn't realise match of the day was on so early tonight, completely missed our game. Was looking forward to basking in some praise.
August 27, 20169 yr Making too much of this Cesc thing..... In Italy and in some respects Spain it is not unusual to save your best for bigger games. With all due respect this was Burnley at home, international break, Cesc has played a lot of football in recent seasons etc........ Let the manger manage, he has a perfect record so far
August 27, 20169 yr Well Dyche has one thing correct, CFC aren't the same as before - IMHO I would use the word of deception to characterize CFC/Conte's tactics - The club does things that the opposition doesn't expect

Fabregas can easily play with Matic and Kante in the team. Chelsea won the league with Fabregas and Matic in the midfield. Fabregas isn't a Conte type player, that's all. I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea are open to offers before the window is out. Mourinho didn't like KDB. Pep with Hart.

Let the manger manage, he has a perfect record so far Well I have never seen teams save there best players for the bigger games. Maybe with 3 games in a week. If Fabregas isn't playing against Burnely at home he won't be playing against City or Utd.
August 28, 20169 yr great 3 points, 9 points out of a possible nine. Compared to last year where it was 4 out of 9. Burnely were lucky not to get an absolute tonking. Could have easily been 5 or 6 nil.
August 28, 20169 yr Folks were so negative at the start of this thread I just turned off it and watched the game. Any regular Chelsea watcher with half a brain can see it's a different team this year to last. Players may be mostly the same but effort levels are way, way higher. Very pleasingly we brought the ball out of defence well. Kante moves it forward quickly and we consistently worked it out of tight spots. We are also using the full width of the pitch for the entire 90 minutes with lots more gif cross field switches, tiring the opposition so they open up in the final ten minutes. All that said we haven't played a good side yet, so the defence not really tested. Burnley were hopeless, utterly hopeless and still nearly managed one goal.
August 28, 20169 yr How nice is it to be top of the league, looking down at Jose having spent a fraction of the money ... :-) Well done team/squad Well done manager Well done support staff Well done board !
August 28, 20169 yr Any regular Chelsea watcher with half a brain can see it's a different team this year to last. Players may be mostly the same but effort levels are way, way higher. this is the thing that really annoys me the much and is the worst thing coming from the last few very toxic weeks of mourinho. no, our players aren't sh*te. courtois was the best gk in spain before he came to us. azpi has been his consistant self for years. matic was just as good the last year in benfica as he was with us the first 1,5 years. fabregas is and was a generational talent when we bought him. hazard was sought after by every top club in the world prior to we winning the champions league, oscar was a top ranked talent as well. willian had played very good fotball in the cl for years, and costa was probably the third best player in la liga before he joined us. i'm not saying we don't have weaknesses, particularly in defense, and i'm not saying we're winning the league if we can muster up a good cb and lb before august comes to an end, but our first xi is not bad and mourinho did not make the over perform when we won the league. 6-7 players in this squad would have walked in to nearly every top side in europe before they joined us. one off year (really off year though) doesn't change that imo.

Fabregas isn't a Conte type player, that's all. I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea are open to offers before the window is out. Mourinho didn't like KDB. Pep with Hart. No he can't play. With that back 4 and with Matic being so-so, you need at least one more to defend. And that is Oscar. That's what I am talking about. If we get another CB or Matic is reliable enough at the upcoming games, I think that Fabregas is going to play. Now if Fabregas isn't a Conte type player, we don't know it for sure. I am not a fan of Fabregas, I never was. I always thought of him as a foreign body despite helping us winning the title. You may be right.
August 28, 20169 yr Even the pri.k that is tony gale had to give us a little forced praise. He was overwhelmingly positive from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed his little paean to JT and how he always makes us a better side. Loses points for making that Keane/keen joke though, even worse was that the co-commentator later repeated it.
August 28, 20169 yr Well I have never seen teams save there best players for the bigger games. Maybe with 3 games in a week. If Fabregas isn't playing against Burnely at home he won't be playing against City or Utd. Maybe I didn't express myself too well but I can easily see Conte looking at the fixture list and thinking Cesc will feature for Spain so use him sparingly or not at all against Burnley, Watford, Bristol Rovers After the international break Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester. I really don't think he is keeping him out of the team due to ability or team structure
