August 24, 20169 yr "Chelsea eye Nigerian wonder kid Wilfred Ndidi to add a DM back up option for Nemanja Matic" It seems like a load of bollocks, but about 7-8 sources have been reporting it a few hours ago. Competition from: Boro, Tottenham, West Ham, Hamburger SV, and Watford Things to note: - Wilfred is only 19 years of age - He was one of the best young players in the belgian league for Genk, joint 3rd for young poty - Has earned 2 caps for the Nigerian national team - Being versatile, Wilfred can play and has played in center back, defensive midfield, center midfield, and attacking midfield, and has excelled in all 4 positions. - Had a wonderful 2015/16 season for RCC Genk, lifting them to 4th in the Belgian Pro League Share your thoughts about him, I personally have no opinion at the moment, but if i did, i'd say we wouldn't really need him at all, but every opinion is open to discussion, take care. August 24, 20169 yr Have only seen his goals on youtube - it would be a gamble but given his erratic performances so is playing Matic week in week out... Mikel is in the last year of his contract too so for me worth a punt. Edited August 24, 20169 yr by the special one
August 25, 20169 yr Unless a young player is showing something great in a decent league (Sane) then i think we should keep clear. No doubt we have players in our own academt or youngsters in the first team (Nate) who could match his performances if given a run out. Keep away and spend the money where we need it.
August 25, 20169 yr He'd just be loaned out, we probably have just as good players trying to get into our side.

Agree we should look to use the academy, but in today's "crazy market" we'd have to go out and spend £30m+ on someone with the requisite quality if Nate doesn't make the grade, Matic continues to put in sub standard performances, or if Mikel leaves next summer. By signing Ndidi we'd essentially be hedging our bets on a player who could be worth £40m+ in a few years. Edited August 25, 20169 yr by the special one

By signing Ndidi we'd essentially be hedging our bets on a player who could be worth £40m+ in a few years. He will only be worth that if he is playing regularly, which he wont here, and loaning him out is a bit of a lottery, as there are so many factors that can hinder his progression. Unless its a renato sanches, then i think we should keep our money in our pocket until a player is ready to come in and contribute straight away. Plenty of potential already at the club, and we seem to have steady flow of prospects coming in at 16 for peanuts or from our academy.

Or we could sign this lad and he might not make the grade. I just think we should pay the ridiculous fees for someone ready made or stick with what we have. Signing a youngster like this just says to the academy "No matter how hard you try or good you are, we'll sign someone else like you just because we can." Edited August 25, 20169 yr by RIP Mourinho

Signing a youngster like this just says to the academy "No matter how hard you try or good you are, we'll sign someone else like you just because we can." Nate may well be worth £40m in a few years, but he also may not (that's the point I was trying to make by suggesting we'd be hedging our bets by signing Ndidi). It may sound harsh but if the yoof don't like the club's transfer policy they can simply be sold or released (hopefully at a profit), they're still gaining access to the "best" facilities and coaching in the country while earning a decent wage (and if our track record over the last 10 years is anything to go by, almost guaranteed to make it at some level in the game). If a Renato Sanches comes along he joins Bayern, Real, or Barca (given their financial/CL status I'd argue City/United over us). I think we need to accept we're just not in their league at the mo and with the new stadium on the horizon may not be for some time. For me we won't need to cut back our process of signing prospects and loaning them, I think we're approaching a stage where we need to start getting rid of some of the deadwood and starting over (this point excludes the academy)... in that respect Ndidi fits the profile of the type of player we should be looking to sign.
