January beckons!

I'm actually glad hes staying. He's been on loan to 4 different clubs and even he must be thinking it's time for him to step up and show what he can. He's not the most gifted but his drive and determination coming off the bench makes him a valuable asset.

I didn't imply that you should F(*K off and can't be critical.

but on this occasion, anyone who wants to somehow have a pop at our board after this transfer window needs to F*£K off and support a Manchester club.

I said days ago I'd prefer us to sign no-one than sign players who add depth rather than quality (which may or may not be the case with yesterdays deals).

99% sure thatll be the case with Alonso.

At best i expect him to be competent. which is ridiculous when you think factor in the equally competent Nathan Ake is on our books, and homegrown too.

Luis will be a first XI player and will add something to the team (and yes he will cause problems too, but let not do this again), but Alonso i have my doubts over, but its only fair to wait and see.

Also im still confused about the Eduardo deal. He wont play barring some badly timed injuries - i just dont see the point of having a non homegrown 3rd choice keeper.

That is based on the title thread and general bitterness towards our board. Ignoring every good decision they make and jumping on the bad ones.

If you rather we signed no one fine, but if you're going to have a pop at the board just because they didn't pay 60m for Koulibaly and 50m for Stones, instead signing Luiz and Alonso for 50m then yes, do one!!

At the end of the day, its Contes decision. If he rated Ake or thought he was good enough for our system then he would still be here like Moses.

People wanted the board to back the manager, well here we have it, our manager is being backed.

Thats unfair to the lad. He has been really good so far.

No knock on him, but for the past couple of years we seem to play him in pre season a lot then ship him off on deadline day. I'm glad he has stayed around will be a useful squad player

But Ake went on loan before Conte had even started at Chelsea. It wouldve been nice to let Conte have seen him in traiing, just once...

Fair point but I'm sure Conte knew his roster and knew about Ake. I highly doubt that a player who had a good chance of making the managers plans was loaned out without him having any prior opinion of it.

There may be an argument here for us having the best window...

Not a chance imo. I think that soley rests with Utd. Us and City have done good business but:

Pogba - £89m is way over priced imo but he is for me the best young all action midfielder in the world.

Zlatan - Free - We know his quality

Mkhiterian - 26m - Absolute steal for that money. Good player with age on his side and a regular at assisting/scoring goals

Baily - 30m- At 30m I thought he was overpriced but when you consider we are being quoted 50-60m for other unknowns then 30m isn't too bad plus hes had a great start.

I appreciate your honesty. It's a risible, parochial sentiment though.

Pretty clear conte wasn't interested in ake as a fullback. He's not the most attacking player in that position. Shame about the wilshere loan from his point of  view.

Zlatan - Free - We know his quality - Great player but age isn't on his side, he'll pretty much do what RVP did for United for a season or two.

Mkhiterian - 26m - Absolute steal for that money. Good player with age on his side and a regular at assisting/scoring goals - Agreed, great player but it will be interesting to see how he gets on as I don't think Jose has started him yet.

Baily - 30m- At 30m I thought he was overpriced but when you consider we are being quoted 50-60m for other unknowns then 30m isn't too bad plus hes had a great start. - Again another good player but United have hardly been tested yet.

I actually think we have brought in the right players to strengthen our team. There was no point splashing out 50-60 mil on a defender when we have Christensen available to us next season, pretty much a no brainer to bring him back in the fold. We are going to be light upfront, but I'm sure if we have injuries that we can recall Traore/Remy.

IMO its fair to criticise the board for decision making. Especially when those decisions seem sporadic and knee jerk. I think we have done some smart business in this window, I dont subscribe to the though that spending £60 million on a defender who we dont know is less of a risk than an 8/10 defender we know and can count on to be that. Defence is about cohesion, balance and team work, individuals do not make quality defences. This is why Terry was sh*te under Benitez and AvB, its why £13million for Zouma  (our second choice) was better than £42million for Mangala. Its why Kompany only cost £6mil and City will be hard pressed to find a better player, he fit the system and had a quality about him than Otamendi (£38m), Mangala (£42m), Stones (£48m) do not have. We will struggle to replace Terry and did struggles to replace Carvalho, I will be amazed if Christiansen is half as good as the hype and await with baited breath him coming into the squad next year, hopefully with a fully fit Happy, Luiz and Cahill with JT having gone into coaching.

For me Kante does a better job at a 1/3 of the price, pogba overrated.

Zlatan is at the end of his career and demands huge wages, hence free transfer, no one would buy him and PSG wouldn't extent, Bats is a top player and I think will become one of the best strikers in the league and his wages are a far less than zlatan's

Mkhiterian - good transfer

Baily- Looks good so far pacey and powerful but similar player to Zouma and I'd take Zouma over him and we paid what 12 mil, plus I think a lot of people will be surprised at Luiz under conte and many words will be eaten, especially the slating some of the pundits have given him, he has world class talent and I agree at 29 to not have fulfilled that talent is silly but I think conte can get him to show some discipline, and I beleive he does too or he would have vetoed teh signing. Plus with kante in front of him and the possibility of bringing Luiz himself into DM, I'm happy with that signing. (I know many are not)

My over all thought is we strengthened where we had to, and I genuinely think we have a squad that no one will look forward to playing in world football.

More like it brought out the people who play fifa career mode and have three world class signings made before pre season game 1.

there are some CFC fans that create their perceptions from FIFA or the Football Managers games

I love how the luiz slaters were told they were wrong and given good reasons why, but were so adamant and haven't had the good grace to recant, anyway we have done very well and should we win the league I'm sure conte will be rewarded with some big names, forward to next season  back in the big stage with an elite team, happy days, many don't realise how close we were to being Liverpool or Tottenham, conte has saved the elite status of Chelsea I don't know if people fully appreciate the cross roads we were at

not really, when you realize of our quality, a major overhaul is never needed.. some people just can't accept that jose has lost the plot so they needed something to blame for his failure..

Not when in you didnt need hindsight in the first place to realise the amount of rubbish coming out from a few bitter individuals.

Yeah, good point. Imagine Kante gets injured, we have no Oscar/Mikel to fall back on and our season collapses. I won't even mention the players we could not replace anyway like Hazard or Luiz. This January window wasn't necessarily a good one. Let's be careful with haughty comments now. Nothing has been won yet.
