Alexis Sanchez

Featured Replies

Found the following quote from Ian Ayre (Former Chief Executive) of Liverpool FC interesting:

“The thing to understand is that you are never actually in complete control of who you buy and sell. There was much publicised interest in Alexis Sanchez, and that deal was done - the only reason it wasn’t was that the player and his wife wanted to live in London. We couldn’t move the football club to London unfortunately!”

It's clear Sanchez and his family want to remain in London and was the main factor he chose Arsenal over Liverpool & I really do believe the if Conte & Roman want him we will get him.

Would happily pay £45m for Sanchez. Surely Arsenal would accept this sort of figure instead of risk losing him for free the following year, especially as it looks like he isn't trying for Arsenal any long on the pitch.

Yeah it'll be a great idea to get Younes, who has absolutely boned nothing less than the great eredivisie and scored the incredible amount of 3 goals, instead of Sanchez who is on 19 goals in the Premier League.

You've got to permit the odd funny post on this forum every now and then mate :laugh2:

All of this just feels a little too early for me.  First Verratti, Sanchez, these are not exactly early buying action players, but then again, some gems have gone pretty early.

I guess I'm just a little skeptical that we're chasing both at the same time.  These are elite level players.

Sanchez HAS to be our priority signing in the summer. Him being able to play both on the wing and as a forward will be massively useful.

Can we sell Willian for 50 odd million and chuck an extra 10 mil on top for Alexis?

Personally for me VVD and Morata should be a higher priority than Sanchez (VVD to fill the void left by JT and eventually replace Cahill, Morata to replace Diego). Sanchez (who in my humble is off to Bayern) and Verratti (we already have Cesc) would be a welcome bonus.

Sanchez is a far better footballer and more dangerous than Morata so for me he would be streets ahead in terms of importance.

We don't hugely require a new CB either with players coming back so again not the highest importance.

Sanchez would be a statement of intent while those other 2 wouldn't be as much IMO.

Fair enough, not for me. If Diego leaves we need replace like for like with a #9 (either Morata or Lukaku). I'd only have Sanchez to replace Willian, or Sanchez if we also sign a CF with an aerial presence (Dzeko). I'd say VVD is the higher priority because if Cahill's legs start to go Ake will have to step up and I'm not convinced he's ready.

We have Christensen too mate who's had another fine season, he's further ahead of Ake in terms of football played as he's done it in CL and Bundusliga for a few seasons now as a starter.

VVD is coming back from a bad Injury too and we know all too well that's a risk.

Yes we have Christensen, but for me he isn't a left sided CB. I can see the benefit of him playing at rcb or in the centre but at lcb I think he'd be a square peg in a round hole.

Cahill and Luiz didn't play the position they done so well this season and both commented on it yesterday about how they were uncomfortable but it worked a treat because Conte worked on it with them.

So that stuff irrelevant because our manager sees things fans cannot. The proof as they say is in the pudding.

Cahill played at LCB for England so it wasn't a new position for him - they're just talking up the manager imho. Cahill was suited to LCB because he had the right characteristics to play in that position (which Conte deserves credit for recognising), I'm not convinced Christensen does.

Not for me it was a totally different system they played and everyone flourished.

Conte was proved right and he has moved several players around to fit in to his system and it's worked so of course he can do the same with a young talent like Christensen. How do you know he doesn't have the characteristics to do it? Have you seen him train, play and such or is that a total wild guess?
