from comments he seems like the diego simeone type of player because he is heavily involved in defense and have high workate and stamina. Not bad at passing at ball but isn't the craftiest player out there

We already got Willian for that, need someone with a little more goal threat with Hazard to miss the start of the season.

Alonso wasn't pushing 28 

He also wasn't a winger so his goals and assist stats wouldn't really come into it....

This feels very underwhelming. Not only is he 28 but he'd also join our group of aging wingers. Willian and Pedro are both 30ish next season, having him join us would be the same as playing them.

Agreed but we are lucky enough to have a manager that has turned some meh players into champions. Just my opinion.

Personally not fussed one way or another about this signing. We have greater needs elsewhere.

Atleti can't register players anyway so that could have been the reason
