Remembering liverpool vs chelsea 0-2

Where does this game rank (April 2014) in your opinion when it comes to greatest Chelsea moments? For me personally I’ll put it in my top five due a number of reasons

1: I despise the club so anytime we beat them is a special occasion but this was extra special. For months the scousers has been gloating about how they were about to win their first league title. Some of them even registered here to troll us and gloat in our faces. Fair to say we never saw them again after the match :laugh2:

2: They treated the game like it was a title celebration. They were wearing “champions” T shirts, l and thought they would brush as aside like the other teams on their way to the title. Chelsea of course thought differently.

3. The game for me was everything I love about Chelsea and what we are famous for especially under Mourinho; never ever give up, tough, defensive solidity, organisation, intelligence. It was quite possibly Mourinho’s finest game as a chelsea manager (Although I’m sure there are lots of contenders)

4. Gerrard slip. One of the greatest moments in premier league history :laugh2:. As if it wasn’t enough that we denied them their first ever premier league win, it had to be their iconic captain and a player they worshiped to make a horrible mistake that contributed to it. (A draw would’ve been good enough for them)

For me this game was perfect in every way. I still occasionally go back and rewatch it just to enjoy it all over again and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it. Full match for those interested

It ranks just a tad below the 4-4 (agg 7-5) Champs league quarter final game of 2008/2009 against the dippers. I liked the fact that we gave them the idea that they might just win (twice), and then went all medieval on their arses.

Outside of us actually winning trophies, it's up there as one of my favourite moments in football. It felt so satisfying seeing us beat them when they were so confident of winning the title. Seeing Gerrard miss control and then slip not so long after his "this does not slip" speech was something you only see in football. Then you had Gerrard trying desperately to have another one of his Stevie Me moments with his wasteful long range shots. Next we had Liverpool fans getting more and more desperate as time went on. Then in the last few seconds one of their ex players runs through on goal and set's up Willian for a tap in.

The best thing to take out of that day was knowing that we saved football. If Liverpool had got anything out of that game they would have gone on to win the title and we would still be hearing about it today. The media wanted Liverpool to win the title and were trying to make out that most football fans wanted Liverpool to win the title too, but it couldn't have been further from the truth.

A great day of football that still makes me smile to this day

I knew no-one who wanted them to win - Everton, Arsenal, Spurs, Stoke - all wanted anyone but them!

From RWAK - "Well, at least they won't win the league."

Well not until the next year!  And then again two years later.

And you're still waiting!   :laugh2:

My favourite reply was "Chelsea are f**king c**ts wish i was f**king dead"

After already laughing at the replies before it, this one finished me off, and this was on the first page out of 59 :laugh2:

Thank you for posting this.
My memory of the match is pretty vague tbh but the stand-out moments for me were.
Gerrard Slip obvs
Our terrible line up: Mikel and Salah etc
Torres assisting Willian
Jose running to us when we got our second.

I think my most memorable Liverpool game was in the FA cup 97 4th round.

We were 2 nil down and half time and looking terrible. Hughes came on half time and we ended the game 4 2 and were running riot !.... It stood out so much as the ground was being refurbished and they had a massive allocation of tickets for some reason (being such a big club I suppose !!) ... and their fans were going mental and suggesting we leave now (or words to that effect :) ) All live on normal tele as well !

I nearly took their advice at half time. Glad I didn't. Brilliant match

For all the reasons you stated, it's probably my favourite Liverpool game as well. Although the 3-1 at Anfield in the champions league is a close second. The previous champions league exits against them were hard to take, and I don't think I could have taken another, and the 3 away goals gave us a huge cushion.
