March 8, 20197 yr If Jake Cohen is right we almost certainly have to go into next season without any new signings (bar Pulisic), and without any players that we currently have on loan (Kovacic and Higuain).
March 8, 20197 yr Blessing in disguise if you ask me. We need things to change. Player recruitment has declined in recent years and of all these young players we have signed and shipped out on loan not one of them is worthy of a place at chelsea so hopefully this will change things for the better and i for one would be over the moon to have CHO, Ruben, Mount, Abraham, Christiensen, Ampadu as our squad players next year. Cash in on some of the squad players and start building a squad of quality rather than quantity after the ban is lifted.
March 8, 20197 yr Leaving: Kovacic Higuain Contract expired in June: David Luiz Giroud Gary Cahill Caballero Players with 1 year left on contract: Hazard CHO Pedro Willian There's a list of our most urgent cases. This summer will be no fun at all, we might see both Hazard and Hudson Odoi leaving while we are forced to extend the contracts of lesser players to just get through the season.
March 8, 20197 yr In every simillar case to ours other clubs have been allowed to suspend the transfer ban, while the club is appealing the descision. I wonder why the corrupt FIFA have singled us out for a harsher treatment?
March 8, 20197 yr If we are able to hang on to Eden and we are able to extend CHO then this ban can be handled correctly and it won't be as painful. If we lose Hazard and don't extend CHO then this could be a very bad summer for Chelsea. I really don't understand why FIFA has denied our appeal to lift the ban until the appeal process is finished when they granted it to the Spanish clubs in the past 5 years.

And why would we need to extend the dealers of lesser players? Am fine with Pedro and Willian leaving for free when that same summer we can replace them. Now as we cannot sign new players we need to focus on Eden and CHO. if eden wont sign sell him and clear a path for CHO.

We rejected a huge Barcelona-bid for Willian just a couple of months ago. I don't see us going from that to letting him and Pedro run their contracts down and leave for free after.

What is true is, just like David luiz, Willian has shown no sign he us willing to sign unless given a longer dealer. Do we want to be stuck like we are with Alonso? Hopefully club has learned its lesson.

But we might not have a choice at this point.

Pedro signed a one year deal before so if we want him too he will sign. Willian is a average player who flukes a good goal once in a while. If we sell him and even lose Hazard and go in to next season with CP, CHO, Pedro and Kenedy then we are only the poorer because of Hazard. We would not miss Willian, luiz or Giroud.
March 8, 20197 yr If Hazard fails to agree to a new deal we will be faced with either selling for a decent fee this summer (but without being able to sign a replacement), or letting him go for nothing the summer afterwards. I reckon the club will choose the first option in that scenario. With CHO we are talking about a smaller fee anyway, and there was is always a chance he will change his mind. I would refuse to sell him even if it means letting him leave for free in 2020.

I can see Giroud being offered an extension. If we let him go then we have just Bats and Tammy as registered strikers until the transfer ban is lifted.
March 8, 20197 yr Oh my word. Talk about your chickens coming home to roost. Banned for buying players who never stood a chance of playing for the first team. I expect we'll appeal to CAS or somewhere, seems odd that the big Spanish teams were able to sign during their appeal and we aren't. Nothing should astonish anyone with FIFA though. Fundamentally failed organisation.
March 8, 20197 yr The ruling is unprecedented and we'll appeal but, having come to turns with out fall from grace, this'll put this this bonkers youth policy to the sword. We'll either confound everyone by being brilliant and entertaining with homegrown players or we'll be in the championship. Also, listening to Jenas on the radio - he is a prized f**king Spurs c**t.

Fundamentally failed organisation. I don't think we can do much about FIFA imposing the ban while we appeal. Yes the Spanish clubs were let off (surprise, surprise) but the rule is there. I think Blatter may have still been running things when the Spanish clubs got their special treatment. I honestly don't know what chance we have with our appeal either. The evidence suggests that we did break the rules. Do we risk a longer punishment if we lose an appeal? Maybe we will get it reduced to one window if we make a good case. This will now give the club a great opportunity to see how good the academy really is. They may as well give Sarri a chance now too as any high profile replacement will want their own signings.

Even if we lose a bunch of first team players at the end of their contracts we should have enough quality to avoid relegation. That being said I wouldn't anticipate a lengthy run in the Champions League.
March 8, 20197 yr I don't understand. If the appeal is not heard before the summer window but later our appeal is successful, how can we be compensated for the transactions we were unable to do while awaiting the appeal?? Not allowing us to participate in the market while the matter is under appeal is itself a punishment even if the case against us falls.

I imagine we could demand some sort of compensation from FIFA in that scenario. But that assumes we would win our appeal.

We are absolutely set on course for 5,6,7th mediocrity and that was before we'd been dealt a transfer ban. Negligently, that is how this club has been run.

As soon as I posted that I realized I should have added "If we make 4th or win the Europa.." I still think there is a chance of one those 2 things happening this season.

March 8, 20197 yr I think we need to get some perspective. Its 1 season. We aren't going to get relegated, and it isnt going to send us into mid table obscurity for the foreseeable future. It might even benefit us in the long term, and when the ban is over we could possibly spend 2 summer's budget to get back in contention. We have already endured a season where we finished 10th, and yet still went on to win 2 out the 3 following league titles. It's not ideal, but as long as we have an owner willing to spend, then we can recover quickly from any possible damage the ban could do to us.

I think whether we secure a CL-spot this season will have absolute massive impact. Because if we don't with things looking grim for the 19/20 season as well i don't see how we keep our few top players. Hazard wil probably leave this summer and how long will Kante want to stay? One of the main reasons he joined us was to challenge for the CL. And lets be honest, we are not among the big-boys in the transfermarket any longer so we will struggle to attract the best players that would be necessary to really compete again. Both in Europe and against City/Liverpool.
