Two Transfer Window Ban?

Featured Replies

I tell you what David Luiz and Giroud’s negotiation stance has just significantly strengthened for contract renewals.

Suddenly they’ll be able to ask for bigger wages and signing on fees.

Now we’re going to have to throw more than just the kitchen sink at Hazard and CHO to try and convince them to renew as well.

Has it been confirmed anywhere whether we’d still be able to renew Higuain’s loan if the ban is upheld?

Seems like the club saving face at this point. I believe they are guilty. I mean we all know how the club has been run in regards to making money from young players rather than having a plan to integrate them for years.

To sign underage players with making money from them as the main goal, it seems pretty pointless now considering the situation the club have found themselves in.

The paedo policy has backfired.

I'd still let Giroud leave. Higuain, Tammy and Bats to choose ahead of him imo.

This leaves us in a horrible position to be honest.

Morata is on an 18 month loan. So he's not coming back

Giroud would need a contract extension, and I don't know that he'll get one.

We have Higuain option for next season that we're almost sure to pick up. That's still allowed.

So next year we go in with Higuain, Batshuayi and Abraham... could be worse...

Giroud has option already in his contract to extend for further season.

Higuian is a tricky one, there has been no clarification on it. He signed an initial 6 month loan, with an option to extend. I'm guessing it would depend on whether fifa see the extended year as a new registration. I'm not optimistic about higuain being allowed to stay.

Morata could possibly come back, but it would require at least 2 parties to actually want that to happen, which is unlikely.

So I think it will be batshuayi, Abraham and giroud.

Kovacic is gone now. No way for us to keep him past the summer so we will face issues with midfield depth.

Bit of a blow for Sarri because he will now have to work with what he has other than the loans coming back. He can’t buy to fit his style anymore. That could effectively be the final nail for him

Didn't something similar happen with the Kakuta signing with our ban being lifted after serving some of it?

From my vague memory of the Kakuta case we never served any of the transfer ban, which was lifted before it actually went to appeal. I seem to remember we had proof that Kakuta was not tied down to a contract with Lens and was free to join us, so effectively Fifa's case against us collapsed.

I think that we came to an out-of-court agreement with Lens and paid them several million compensation.

Fifa are playing a dangerous game treating us so differently to the Spanish clubs.

Straight to CAS then who seem to like f**king FIFA over.

Right, this isn't the final ruling and we have precedent on our side.  Lot of posters acting like this is a done deal and we will be banned this summer.  It's far from over.

Well he will have to quit because we would be mad to sack him.

I am just concerned how quickly that ruling will be heard by CAS. We don't have very long before the transfer window opens.

It sounds to me as if you misunderstand the charges and indeed the regulations.

The issue isn’t so much signing players under 18 year olds or indeed underage players it’s more about their country of origin and also at what point they became Chelsea players

From what little that’s in the public domain the major issue is that the players involved didn’t sign formal contracts that were contrary to the respective FIFA regulations but Chelsea did have some sort of involvement and played them  in non competitive trail games that were sanctioned by the FA ( hence why they too were sanctioned)

As with the Kakuta case FIFAs disciplinary committees descions do get overturned on appeal so I wouldn’t at this point in time jump on the no smoke bandwagon

I wouldn’t worry too much about CAS they are well able to respond to a request to put a hold on the ban quickly although the final appeal may well take quite a while to reach conclusion.

Oh yes, but every other club has been allowed to sign players until the appeal is done with. Blatant double standards and favouritism for the golden clubs (especially the Spanish ones)

I fully expected this to happen. I never thought for a second that FIFA would allow us to sign players even when we were appealing. We should definitely go to CAS about this, no way should this be allowed when they have allowed every other club to sign players during an appeal.

Here's a piece about the Higuain-situation with insight from a sports lawyer.

So Higuain can't stay past this summer either it seems like. Which essentially leaves us all kinds of screwed.

I really cant see how cas cant  rule in out favour over delaying the ban. Seems like a massive contradiction and discrimination to not treat us the same as 3 other clubs that were changed for the exact same thing.

Thought it worth sharing his comments about the ban.

Jesus, when it's laid out like that, it does seem much worse.  I didn't realize we couldn't appeal to CAS right away.

Not worried in the slightest:

GK: Kepa, Willy, Bulka

Full backs: Azpi, James, Emerson, Alonso, Sterling

CB: Rudiger, Chalobah, Christensen, Zouma

Registra: Jorginho, Ampadu

CM: RLC, Barkley, Willian, Mount, Pasalic

WF: Pedro, CP, Hazard, CHO

Striker: Abraham, Batman, Redan

Trevor Chalobah may well swap roles with Ampadu as well.

Only striker leaves me concerned. They may not be Sarri ball players but I have faith in Abraham.

No need to panic and break policy for Luiz or Giroud.

We also have Kennedy who could be useful.

Out of interest what happens if we win our appeal? Assuming that could be at least 6 months away it would mean we have served a punishment of a transfer window for some charges we are eventually cleared from. Does that mean we can sue FIFA for damages afterwards?
