Agree it was a major let down considering the hype. When I first started work an older Spurs fan recalled that shortly after this film came out we played at WHL and many of ours donned white overalls, bowler hats and walking sticks. Cant see any of them getting in the ground with sticks; like flag poles and rattles they went the way of the dodo.

For it's time it was very violent and there was a lot of mindless violence afterwards especially on old tramps like in the film. But 99 I think Kubrik died it was very tame especially after video nasties of the early 80's which were also in my opinion terrible.😁

A Slazenger jumper I bought one in 1981 is about the same price now think I paid about £12 at the time. We have discussed the prices of Pringles on here before I think I paid about £20 in 1982 can't remember where I bought it from but do remember buying the fabric softener which was quite a weird thing for a 16 year old to buy. 😁 The diamond ones are horrible has to be said definitely belong at the Surrey golf course.

Just had a look at some Lyle and Scott jerseys and polo shirts.

The plain jerseys are about £70 and the plain polo shirts are about £50.

Admit to liking them back then and they haven’t really increased in price that much since then.

Arsenal - Man United 1973 seems the Clockwork Orange look lasted for a while film came out in 71. I know Kubrick banned it not the censors but eventually when I saw the film after his death just thought it was pretentious bollocks.

I queued up in Leicester Square when it first came out and thought it was great.

Watched it few weeks back after telling a mate how great it was turns out  it's a load of sh*te.I couldn't believe how rubbish it was. A barber I know has got a tattoo of that eye with the eyelashe on his arm and we were agreed that it's a wonderful film.before i saw  it recently.

The book is excellent though, some editions have a dictionary to translate the words used.

Think they are Russian

Early 70s shoes where to start . DMs , weavers, tassled weavers, loafers, tassled loafers, gibsons, boxed gibsons. Then there were Brogues, squires and I seem to remember royal brogues. I think these were brown brogues ? Freeman Hardy and Willis needed a lot of stock.

These are what we used to call " royals" I think.

Royal Oxblood Brogues. Did we call these " Squires" as well?

Proper class.

They are proper. Pretty much all the time wear Bally, Churches or Edward Green loafers and brogues. Don't mind Red Wing boots- ex wife detested them- thought they looked like a couple of casserole dishes

Few years back at a car boot sale in Raynes Park I picked up a pair of pig ugly Solatio Beetle Crushers for a nicker, dated from 72 ish Smoothie Period I'd say. Had a hunch they might be collectable- stuck them on Ebay as Northern Soul footwear and got back a remarkable  £200.

Quite liked that look at school with Stay Press trousers though by the time I had earnt some money via the paper round the fashion had moved to Sergio Tachini tracksuits and Farah trousers. 🤔

A scouser I knew said the funniest thing he ever saw at Anfield, was two coach loads of us disembark - curly perm wigs- shell suits- “‘Calm Down”......This fella was pretty hardcore and not especially enamoured with Londoners but said all the natives were doubling up.

Whatever year we had Sheffield Utd away last game of the season- early 90’s- loads of blokes in flat caps- instead of ticker tape reception torne up Hovis - Hovis theme getting hummed during course of the match. They’re was one bloke next to me with a flat cap on with a plastic pigeon glued on top.

That to me was Chelsea fans at there best. Totally, completely irreverent, having a laugh, taking the piss
